Before Ed could reach the woman, the man on the grounds shot up like a lightning bolt. He blocked Ed's way, all in order to protect the woman.
'She must be very important'. Ed noticed that the man who chose to study him now decided to attack him. This meant that he considered this woman as an important person. Be it if she was his lover, or if it was simply his orders to protect her. Ed guessed that it must be orders. Since this woman's abilities definitely played a big role in ambushing strong people.
"We'll retreat, but you'll have to let us go." The man gave Ed a proposal. To him, there was nothing to think about. Avalon kingdom would be able to avoid ruin, which benefits Ed, while he and the woman could be left alive. They already lost one of the important people that came here due to Ed, but it wasn't something to fret about. The woman did not lie when she said he was simply a killer they hired. She only tried to save him because he was strong.
"No one will leave. You attacked my kingdom, but you expect me to let you leave?" Ed told the man, who was surprised by his answer.
"Even if you kill us here, you won't be able to protect everyone! Will you give up your whole kingdom just to kill us both?!" The man knew that Ed could take both of them out. But he also believed that he wouldn't be able to stop the army of monsters and cultivators down on the ground.
"And who said I won't be able to?" Once again, Ed told him. As if synchronizing with his words, a crimson-blood red tornado appeared in an area nearby. Enemy monsters and cultivators were stuck inside of it, being killed instantly. 'That must be Goburou.' Ed thought to himself. This was Goburou's Hatsu. Goburou used Transmutation to transform his aura into a blood-like substance. He manipulated this blood, allowing him to transform it however he wants. There were two aspects of this power. First, he could kill people with the blood and absorb their real blood. The absorbed blood would then be added to the aura blood and it would continue to grow. The second aspect was that whenever he infused someone with his aura blood, he would be able to control them. He could control people one level above him.
Similarly, many areas around the kingdom started experiencing weird phenomena. Lightning showers, Shadow pikes, flame balls, flying feathers, ice, and fire, as well as darkness itself. All of these things surrounded the kingdom making enemies fall one after the other. Ed's companions were not holding back in their slaughter.
"I told you, the kingdom will be safe. Unlike the two of you." Ed smiled as he looked at the pair in front of him. Both of them felt their sweat cover their backs as if a Legendary beast was looking at them directly. No, they felt something much more dangerous than that.
"I'll stall him, you escape."The man spoke, and the woman nodded. She didn't tell him a naïve thing like we'll fight together. Instead, she disappeared from her place, and the man rushed at Ed.
"What part of 'no one will leave' don't you understand?" Ed frowned as he appeared far from his original position. He swung his blade, which collided with something in the air producing a screeching sound. The woman reappeared and retreated. She had two Chakram in her hands, which she used to block Ed's Shusui. However, both of them had crumbled a little upon being hit by a Mythical weapon. Even more sweat covered the man and woman as they noticed the difference in abilities. Ed had a lower cultivation but was vastly superior to the both of them. In fact, the strongest one that came to this war from their side was the man Ed killed before.
Both of them tried a defensive battle, looking for an opening to run away. They failed to notice that Ed was simply playing with both of them. He didn't show his true abilities due to one reason. He was wary of someone monitoring them. In such a case, he would want to keep a few trump cards hidden. He already showed his companions, but all of them were hiding their true powers as well. Yet, they managed to kill everything in their path. Even some Heavenly Establishment monsters couldn't hold a candle to them. They were tempered due to fighting each other and other monsters in the tower. The last month in the second tower was especially beneficial due to them fighting strong opponents.
"This has taken long enough," Ed spoke to himself as Muramasa appeared in his hand. In one motion, Ed slashed in two different empty directions with Shusui and Muramasa. The man and woman were surprised at such an action but were soon horrified. They were slashed out of nowhere. They could tell that Ed was the one responsible, but they had no way to block his attacks. He was fighting them from a long distance, but they struggled as if he was right in front of them.
"You guys, it's time to finish!" Ed screamed, targeting his companions. Their attacks gained in strength and momentum after hearing him. Many explosions took place in front of the kingdom, and now many forests lost most of the trees. Ed felt relieved that he didn't destroy the farming grounds, as they were inside the walls.
Ed looked at the pair and withdrew four small blades from his Inventory. He had crafted many of them during his stay at the second tower. Two of them targeted the man, and two targeted the woman. Ed was controlling them thanks to his Telekinesis. Their speed was outstanding, appearing as a silver glow while gliding through the air. The pair couldn't keep up with the knives and Ed's space attacks, causing them to sustain heavy injuries. Due to them being so focused, they failed to notice Ed, who had used Shunpo's speed clones, to appear behind them. Quickly, two heads were severed and Ed burned both their corpses. Only their spatial rings remained intact.
"That's a relief," Ed spoke to himself while looking down. His companions were finishing off those that still remained from the enemy forces. Ed looked towards Eric, Bella, and Elizabeth who were waiting on top of the wall. He made his way to them. He was finally back to his home.
