A month after Luciel had come into existence, Nine's eyes opened in the darkness as she suddenly awoke from comprehension. No wonder she had been having strange feelings ever since she had experienced Rainier had advanced.

The Red Spider Lily worked in the same way as Rainier's advancement. The person was essentially undergoing a transformation and advancement from being a human to a Vampire. In this way, all the cells were constantly being replaced at a steady rate. Because she had used magic to slow it down, magic could also speed it up.

Actually, the rate of transformation was another play on the Vampire's part to create and torment their chosen more. Day by day, they would see themselves changing in the mirror. This could even drive some close to insanity as they saw their demise drawing nearer each day.

Looking at the way these royal Vampires liked to get their revenge, one had to sigh. It was well thought out and tested over the years. After seeing Rainier's advancement, she had finally realized what was so wrong about the process of the Red Spider Lily.

The people being converted into a Vampire were halted right at the cusp of a Vampiric transformation, causing them to fall into a state where their body could no longer move.

Slowly, she left her bed as she pondered over the new information. Nine walked over to the place she had left Black's body for the night, starting a new scan on him. She ignored the shivering magical fluctuations he was giving out. Every time she checked him over with her magic, he always had the same reactions. She couldn't make head or tails of it, so she just ignored it for now.

Sure enough, his body was in a state of suspended animation. It was likely that the new body was seeking the last step to become a Vampire, but there was a crucial part of the transformation process that hadn't been achieved, leaving them in this state.

If she wanted to use a normal Vampire's blood to complete the transformation and allow him to wake up, then it was only a pipe dream. Royal blood was denser and purer than the rest of the Vampires, allowing qualitative superiority which drowned out all other Vampire blood.

Nine furrowed her brows. It looked like she would have to capture a royal Vampire to experiment as well. Unfortunately, the kidnapping of one would likely cause a stir. In this case, she – Nine paused, a thought occurring in her mind.

She checked the clock, noting that it was an acceptable time for her to intrude.

In the Royal Palace

Nine and Emperor Destan walked into the royal treasury with measured steps, looking like a pair of stern father and son. Their walk together made the various servants from the palace look on with admiring but lowered gazes, inwardly remarking that the Emperor was about to show favour again.

In the silence of the treasury, Emperor Destan directed a rare heavy look at his daughter. What she was asking for was no small amount. If he hadn't learnt of the situation from her, he most likely wouldn't allow her to take this away. Although the owner was already dead, it was still something that was very useful.

Nine's expression was smooth, not giving any sign of how she was feeling inside. Emperor Destan held back a sigh, stepping onto an inconspicuous part of the floor in the vault.

Without a sound, the ground opened up, revealing a spiralling staircase that led the way downwards.

The daughter and father pair disappeared down the stairs, bypassing the various security measures along the way owed to their magical signatures that had been registered. Only the Emperor at that time and the Crown Prince was ever registered, no one else. This was to ensure that even if the Emperor was dethroned, anyone that wasn't the Emperor's chosen heir would not be able to inherit unless the Emperor himself changed his mind. Furthermore, the person who was entering could not have any murderous nor malicious thoughts about the other who was registered to the door.

On the way down, Nine could spot the various treasures that were immeasurable in value, each more valuable than the last. Everything outside of this door, while valuable, were only common things such as gold or silver. The real treasures lay below. Books, weapons and medicines, they were contained below and hardly ever used.

In the middle of the vast number of items, sat an inconspicuous little vial of blood. The blood itself looked ordinary, but if held to the light, looked slightly gold and glittery. It looked like how Seyton's blood had looked when she had drawn it, but tinged with gold, which was the sign of Vampire royalty.

Centuries ago, when the Cosmos Empire was just being established, they had relied heavily on this small vial of blood in secret, unbeknownst to the Night Tide continent.

She had recalled the small vial in her faint memory from the body's original owner. Nine's heartbeat increased. She could feel that she was near success. It was so near that she could practically taste it.

Before she bid her father goodbye, she discreetly slipped an inconspicuous ring into his hands. The ring worked the same way as her interspatial bracelet, with added security features that would allow up to one devastating strike, thereby saving the owner's life. Her father was only on the cusp of the Fourth Circle, which meant that he was still rather susceptible to assassination attempts.

Nine teleported back to her residence, immediately setting to work. She extracted a miniscule amount of blood and placed it under a microscope, tapping a rune that would keep the blood in stasis.

What she saw caused her to sigh in admiration. Just this itself could cause one to rise to heights that were unreachable previously. She wondered just how her ancestor had managed to get their hands on so much Vampiric royalty blood. The blood contained a vast amount of magic, causing the glitter and shine. From the dense shine, it could be seen that the owner of such blood had been an upper echelon even amongst royalty. Looking at it, she even suspected if it was from the old Vampire King himself.

Studying it further, she suppressed the disappointment in her heart. She would be unable to use this to liberate one from the Red Spider Lily. It looked like they had really gone to all means to cause one to be unable to extricate themselves or their loved ones unless one was a royal themselves.

If there was any doubt that these detestable royals played games for snatching those marked, it was gone now.

She needed a royal. One that was still alive. However, she didn't think that she would be able to find one that would listen to her sufficiently. Not to mention, she didn't trust them. What to do?
