"Stop!" Helena cried.

Seyton, who had been longing to hear her voice for so many years, couldn't help but falter, wanting to desist from the fight.

Jasper grit his teeth and pressed forward harder, like he hadn't been fighting hard enough the entire time. Seyton, who had lost control over the flow of the battle, had no choice but to follow.

The sound of clashing metal shook the castle, but remarkably, other than the tremors in the ground, nothing broke or fell apart. This was because Nine was holding everything together. Without her, it was likely that the entire castle would be in ruins right now.

Nine spread her senses over the castle, her eyes gleaming as she realized something that Prince Jasper had likely tried to keep hidden. A faint smirk appeared on her face.

With her curiosities settled, she turned to look at the woman who had tried to interfere in the middle of a fight, only to fail miserably.

She looked anxious and miserable. Nine scanned her expressions, thinking about the play that woman put on. She had already been converted from a human to a Vampire, so even if she was the weakest Vampire on the planet, she should have been able to hear the commotion when she had blasted the doors open.

Even after all that noise, this woman had only come after the fight was well on its way. Did she think everyone in here was stupid? Clearly, she needed a reality check. Nine could see as clear as day that Helena was both indecisive and hoping to gain something from this. She wouldn't have come otherwise.

The fight continued on for another ten minutes. Nine crossed her arms and watched the fight continue, only to be constantly interrupted by Helena's voice shouting "No!" and "Stop!", "Don't fight over me!".

Nine rolled her eyes in impatience, Nocturne feeling the same way at the inane things the woman was spouting.

"Silence," Nine said, cutting a glance at the woman.

Helena felt her legs tremble under her when she felt the cold chill from that glare. She grit her teeth, about to glare back when her attention was enraptured.

Helena had never seen such a divine being in her entire life. That was something she could say after she had laid eyes on Seyton and Prince Jasper, who were arguably the finest existences in the Vampire race. It was why she had been so desperate to convert, after all. How could she bear to have her looks age and fade away while these two stunning men kept their looks for eternity?

What a waste that would have been!

Helena couldn't move her gaze away from the unknown Vampire at all. Although she could feel the other's intimidation pressing heavily on her, she, who had always loved beautiful things, could easily ignore it just to glance a little longer. If she could burn the other's appearance into her brain for all eternity, she even felt like it would be worth it having lived this long.

But soon enough, she snapped out of it.

Nocturne sighed loudly when he realized that the cherished silence was once again disrupted. He didn't even feel jealous about how she had been staring at his husband for such a long time, looking at him like he was steak on a plate, since he knew that there was no way that Nine liked this kind of person. He could already see the faint contempt that Nine harboured in his eyes.

Seyton let out a growl that reverberated from the depths of his throat. There was no way a human could make that kind of sound. The moment Nine heard that, she knew that Seyton was going to try to end this pointless fight.

There was a complicated mix of anger and sadness, as well as hurt in Seyton as he battled. Similarly, Jasper was feeling things he wasn't showing on his face. Joy, pleasure, sadness, desperation. Nine re-evaluated her opinion of the Prince. He sure could hide it well. He didn't even project any feelings until Helena intruded.

Seyton landed a heavy punch on Jasper's face, causing the prince to go flying into the distance. He had evidently put all his strength into that one punch, sending him further away.

He let out a huff, patting down his clothes. He looked untouched by the fight, looking like his typical composed self. He brushed the lint off his clothes, his eyes landing on Helena.

He looked at her with complicated feelings. Although he didn't want to jump to any conclusions just based off of circumstantial evidence, there was a feeling deep within him that was telling him it was true.

She was indeed not under the spell of eternal sleep, so why hadn't she come back to look for him? It ached deep within him, knowing that their promise for eternity might not be the same. For him, he had intended to love her to the end of time. Just spending time together would have satisfied him. He could have faced any untold hardships without his smile ever breaking, so long as he had her by his side.

But for her, it wasn't so, was it?

When he looked at her, she wasn't even looking at his figure. She was staring in the direction where Jasper had flown. Seyton choked back the bitter feelings that filled his heart. He couldn't even lie to himself.

Just looking at her, he could tell that his love was no longer reciprocated. He just wondered how long he had been blind.

"Jasper," she gasped, heard clearly by all participants in the room.

Prince Jasper dashed back, stopping in front of them. He felt gratified that Seyton had grown this strong in such a short amount of time.

His eyes gleamed as he made to charge back into battle, but Helena stepped in front of him and spread her arms out, blocking him.

Jasper furrowed his brows. "What do you want?" he snarled. "Step aside."

Helena flinched a little at his tone, but resolutely stood her ground, blocking him from Seyton. She glared at him with tears in her eyes.

"Stop it! I know that you only took me away because you love Seyton, but isn't this far enough? Why are you so resolute in hurting the person you love? As a person who's fallen in love with you, I've already stayed by your side for so many years! Can't you just glance at me even once?" she screamed, seeing the unkind feelings directed at her.

"Is your heart only big enough to contain Seyton? No matter what I do, why don't you look at me? I can't even be a replacement for him?" Helena's voice trembled as tears streamed down her face.

What remained of Seyton's heart shattered completely when he heard her words. Although he had already seen it coming, learning that his past lover was enamoured with his old best friend, would have been hard for anyone else to bear. She had likely begged him to take her away, wanting to spend eternity with him, just as he had promised to with her.

Jasper looked her straight in the eyes. "You can't. What does who I love have to do with you?"

Helena broke down, weeping. She knew that her manipulations had failed yet again. "Why? Why him and not me? You're both male! What don't I have that makes him so much better than me?! I'm sorry, Seyton. But I haven't been in love with you since I met Jasper. I just couldn't stay beside you when every time Jasper visited, he would look at you with those affectionate eyes."

Prince Jasper scoffed. "Why does his gender matter? What matters is that I love him. It's impossible for you to ever replace him. Why does it matter to you? Seyton is my one and only. How could you ever hope to measure up to him?"

Helena clenched her fist, her nails digging into her palms in her rage. The rage slowly blinded her, causing her to feel like her world was crashing around her. Why? Why was it Seyton? Even when she had been with him, she had always felt like she was being overwhelmed by insecurities. Though he had been the perfect prince charming, he had never been her 'one and only'.

The first time she lay eyes on Jasper, she had fallen quick, and fallen hard. The moment she lay eyes on him, she knew that he was the one. No one else could ever measure up to him, but why did he only have eyes for Seyton? Her jealousy soon consumed her, practically leaving her breathless with rage.

So, she asked Jasper to take her away. Sometimes, she caught him looking at her like he wouldn't wait to separate her from Seyton, and it had given her such hope when he had taken her away without any hesitation whatsoever.

But! Nothing changed, other than her being turned into a Vampire. She could see how Jasper glanced at the painting that contained Seyton and himself wistfully when he thought no one was looking.

Helena laughed in anger. "I know you're in love with him! It's as clear as day. In fact, it's so clear that it couldn't be any clearer! Are you so in love that you can't see any of his faults at all? How in love with him could you be! Clearly, he only loves me and not you!"

There was a strange expression on Prince Jasper's face that no one but Nine noticed as Helena continued on her tirade.

"- telling me that all these years, you never brought anyone else that was still awake into your castle because you never had an inch of me in your heart? Not even the slightest bit? I must mean something to you, right?!"

Prince Jasper interrupted her while she was still going on and on. "Though I don't love you, nor will I ever, who said I'm in love with him? Since when was I ever in love with Seyton?" he said, a stunned look on his face. "Why the fuck would I be in love with my own brother? That's incest, okay?!"

Helena, "???"

Seyton, "???"

Nine coughed to hide her laughter.

Nocturne snorted, rudely breaking out into full-blown laughter at the expression on the three parties' faces.
