When Fu Yan was walking towards the back room of the Library, he saw Casper who was noting down something while standing beside a bookshelf. Fu Yan smiled and walked towards him at a slow pace.
When he got near, Casper looked up and noticed Fu Yan standing beside him. He immediately gave a bow and said with a humble and polite tone:
"My Lord, how are you? I am sorry for the disturbance that I caused you the other day."
Fu Yan shook his head when he heard this and replied while smiling.
"No, don't. It was my fault for asking you something that you were not allowed to tell me. I am impressed by your loyalty and I wanted to thank you for your efforts."
Casper suddenly gave a bow and responded with a trembling voice:
"No, My Lord, please don't say that. I am but a humble slave to My Lord, I don't deserve any thanks from you. I fear I will not be able to appreciate your kindness, so please don't be so lenient on me." He bowed even deeper while saying this.
Fu Yan shook his head and said with a deep voice that contained some warmth:
"Well, I wanted you to know that you have earned my trust and you will be my right hand in this Library from now on. I won't let your resolve to tell me about things related to the Library without even thinking about the consequences be wasted. So remember, I will be giving you a lot of work to do in the future. Be prepared." Fu Yan turned and started to walk away while saying this.
"Thank you, My Lord, I will try my best to fulfill all your wishes even if it costs me my life." Casper gave an even deeper bow and said while trembling with excitement which made his voice waver a bit.
Fu Yan smiled when he heard this and waved his hand a bit while walking. He then walked towards the back room and opened the door.
When he entered the room, he saw that the room was different from how it was when he came here before.
Unlike the messy room back then which made this look like a locker room, now the room was more elegant and had a white-colored wardrobe. He looked around and examined the room; other than the room being cleaner, looking elegant, and having a wardrobe, everything else was the same. Even the mirror was in the same position as it was before.
"So this is a perk that I get after I level up. It's like signaling to me that I should work hard to level up." Fu Yan smirked while thinking this, then he laughed and said in a loud voice:
"No need for these tricks, I will level up and know all the secrets of the Library. It won't be long."
He then walked towards the white wardrobe and opened it. What greeted him were empty shelves with a book-like device laying in the middle.
"Really, a big wardrobe that is empty. Are they trolling me?" He wondered while reaching out his hand to pick up the device that was giving off a blue glow.
"What is this? Is this my new uniform? How do I use it?" Questions popped up in his mind while he observed the device.
It was a miniature version of a sci-fi looking book. Its cover was made of brown leather that Fu Yan had never seen before. It was soft and cool to touch. He tried to open it but nothing happened. He then shifted his attention towards the blue colored cylinder that was on top of the book. It was made of glass and metal, and the glass part was giving off a blue glow. When he focused a little, he saw tiny, blue colored particles escaping from it and on the one side of the cylinder, he saw two tubes that were connecting the upper and lower part of it. On top of the cylinder, there was a tiny red button. When he saw it, Fu Yan got curious and pressed it.
The moment he pressed the button, a blue light started to shine in the room and the book suddenly escaped from Fu Yan's hand and started to hover. Then it flew towards Fu Yan's chest and attached itself there.
Fu Yan was wondering what happened and when he was about to reach his hand towards the book that was sticking itself to his body, suddenly it gave a little vibration and a red color light engulfed him.
After a while, when he calmed down a little, he saw that he was wearing a red-colored armor on his body. He was startled a little when he saw it and then walked towards the mirror to see what was on his body.
In the reflection, he saw that the upper part of his body was covered with a red-colored armor that protected his arms and upper body. The miniature book was embedded in the center part of the armor, glowing a little.
Then he shifted his attention towards his face and saw the tattoo on his face was darker and its position was shifted a little more left, mostly covering his cheek.
He tried to focus to check if he could see the information about this suit in his mind. When he tried a little, a transparent screen suddenly popped up in front of him and presented the information about the suit.
This was high tech armor that used a special kind of energy. Fu Yan got curious about what this energy was, but when he clicked on the information, nothing happened.
"Not enough permission again"
The book-like device was its core, and it could deploy energy shields to protect him. It can also be used to attack others with the core as a weapon, which will fire an energy beam capable of piercing a small-sized planet. Though it wasn't able to destroy a planet, its penetration power was enough to destroy any creature or even an army.
Fu Yan was shocked when he read this.
"This is a pretty dangerous upgrade." He thought while his eyes were fixed on the text.
Then he turned his attention towards a pen that appeared after the suit was deployed. This pen had a unique look with its body being black on top and golden near the head. The golden part of the pen had strange cloudy looking patterns on it and the black part had golden runes shining from time to time.
Fu Yan slowly lifted his hand and picked up the pen. The moment he held the pen in his hand, he felt a strange sensation in his body. This feeling only lasted for a moment and then everything returned to normal.
Fu Yan was confused about what happened just now. He focused on his body but found nothing strange.
"Was it just my imagination?" He wondered after failing to notice any change.
After spending another 5 minutes trying to figure out what happened and finding nothing, he turned his attention back to the pen but he failed to notice that the tattoo on his face now had a barely-visible golden hue to it, but not something that would be seen unless someone paid close attention to it.
Fu Yan brought the pen near his face when suddenly a transparent screen popped up and presented him with the information regarding the pen.
This pen was the control switch for this armor-like suit and could be used to activate many functions of the armor. From deploying the shields to attacking, from flying to teleporting back to the Library etc, it controlled everything.
It had all the functions that the previous pen had, like translating other languages, working as a small weapon, and other stuff. The main thing that made it different and advanced from before was that Fu Yan could give commands to it telepathically.
"Hmm, this time the upgrade in equipment is good." Fu Yan pondered while looking at the data on the transparent screen but then he shook his head. "Enough of this, let's get back to work." He thought and started to walk towards the door.
After coming out of the backroom, he started to walk towards the teleportation chamber. After entering the chamber, he started to enter the coordinates of Anuvis, the planet from where he needed to get the book back, and then after a while, he was shrouded in white light.
Fu Yan suddenly felt weightless and then something pulled him. He looked around and like last time, all he could see was white light.
After a while, the white light started to lessen and a planet came into his view. It was red in color and gas clouds could be seen in its atmosphere.
Fu Yan held the pen in his hand and then gave the command for the shield. A transparent shield covered him and he started to descend.
