Afternoon.

In the consultation room.

Ling Ran read more than ten MRI scans extremely earnestly.

The Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center was extremely well-equipped. Even their light boxes were larger than the ones in Yun Hua Hospital. Ling Ran asked someone to bring a few light boxes to the consultation room and had a lot of fun reading all the MRI scans.

The other doctors in the consultation room were not in a rush either. They exchanged information in light whispers.

Of course, they would not have been so patient in the past. Surgeons were the most arrogant living beings among the human species, and not many of them would be willing to wait for Ling Ran, regardless of whether Ling Ran was reading scans or doing other things.

However, the field of surgery was also very demanding when it came to a surgeon’s skills.

The other doctors could, of course, ignore Ling Ran and start the discussion without him. However, as Ling Ran’s opinions were becoming more and more important, it was starting to seem like a waste of time to conduct prior discussion without Ling Ran’s participation.

They would rather start the discussion after Ling Ran spoke. Arrogance would occasionally make one seem foolish, and no arrogant person would want to seem foolish.

Ling Ran who had just exited the operating theater did not say much either. He quietly read the row of MRI scans. He then held up three of them and said, “These two patients’ iliums are fractured and the trauma is relatively serious, so I won’t be operating on them. Whereas, this patient has arthritis, which makes him unsuitable for knee arthroplasty. I have no problem with operating on the rest of the patients.”

Most of the doctors who were present secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Due to its fame, more and more patients sought treatment at the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center. Even though some of them were here for Ling Ran, many more came because of the center’s reputation. The influx of patients stressed all the center’s doctors out.

There were around thirty doctors in the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, and at least twenty of them were not willing to work overtime and operate on patients every day.

Now that the patients had been allocated to their respective doctors, the discussion on which plan to use for which patient was relatively simple.

Ling Ran first decided which patients would be operated on using Plan A and ordinary Achilles tendon repair surgery. He then lumped all the remaining patients who would be receiving arthroscopic surgery. Just like that, the division was complete.

Plan A, ordinary Achilles tendon repair surgery, and meniscoplasty under the arthroscope were tried and tested surgery plans anyway, and there was no point in conducting long-winded discussions on them.

Ji Tianlu showed concern for Ling Ran and asked, “Ling Ran, did you arrive at dawn today? Do you want to go and sleep first?”

Ling Ran glanced at Ji Tianlu and said, “3.14159 26535 89793 23846 264…”

As he spoke, he rose and walked in a straight line.

Ji Tianlu immediately understood what Ling Ran meant. “Alright. I’ll come later at night to watch you operate, then.”

A doctor who could recite pi and also walk in a straight line, his intelligence quotient and self-control were probably at a normal level. There was no reason for Ji Tianlu to stop Ling Ran from carrying out surgeries.

Besides, even though it was extremely tiring to operate on patients for thirty hours straight, this was a basic skill that all surgeons possessed. Of course, no ordinary person would be able to do this on a daily basis. But if a surgeon were to do this once in a while, they would just see it as a boot camp.

Ling Ran had always been the type to take the initiative to work overtime. He had already prepared many bottles of Energy Serum just in case he needed them. He also had twenty-two Basic Treasure Chests courtesy of Sincere Gratitude and Colleague’s Praise that he had not opened yet, and this made him feel rich. He nodded as if it was the most normal thing in the world and said, “I think that we can increase the number of arthroscopy patients. There’s still too few of them.”

He had just learned how to use the arthroscope and mastered Perfect Level Knee Arthroscopic Meniscoplasty. But no one knew how his skills were like, and Ji Tianlu was only arranging for Ling Ran to operate on a small number of patients to take a look at his skills. He did that after letting Ling Ran participate in a few surgeries where he was the chief surgeon.

At this moment, Ji Tianlu did not dare to hastily agree to Ling Ran’s request. He only smiled and said, “Operate on the patients who need Achilles tendon repair first. If there’s time left after you are done with them, you can operate on the patients who need arthroscopy.”

It was a very natural arrangement to let a surgeon who was skilled in particular surgery to perform that same surgery continuously, as it would be of the greatest benefit to the hospital and the patient. Most of the time, it would also be beneficial to the doctor himself.

There were perhaps doctors who had only performed arthroscopy all their lives, but that was, of course, taking into account that skilled surgeons had a shorter average lifespan compared to the general population.

Ling Ran did not mind carrying out any kind of surgery. “There’s also not enough patients who need Achilles tendon repairs. I plan to work for a longer time today, and I don’t want there to be a shortage of patient halfway through.”

Aside from Ji Tianlu, the other doctors were dumbfounded when they heard Ling Ran’s words.

Such a request could be said to be a politically correct request to the hospitals. It would not be appropriate for them to object to it.

They could not criticize a doctor just because of his desire to carry out surgeries, right?

This would be like a teacher criticizing a student for finishing up an entire exercise book before he assigned the pages at the back to his students.

As a chief physician, Ji Tianlu said obediently, “I’ll look for more patients with ruptured Achilles tendons…”

He felt extremely conflicted, like a teacher who was buying his student a new exercise book using his own money.

The doctors in the consultation room then spoke about the details of each case. When they were almost done, Ji Tianlu asked, “Ling Ran, I heard that Huo Congjun was here?”

“Yes. Department Director Huo was rushing for a meeting.”

“I can’t believe that I missed the opportunity to meet Department Director Huo again.” Ji Tianlu stared at Ling Ran as he spoke and asked, “Other than attending the meeting, isn’t Department Director Huo here for anything else?”

Ling Ran thought about it carefully. “No. He just asked me to go back to Yun Hua next week…”
