Chapter 90: Groundwork

Lin Xin looked at him calmly and said, “I like you too. What happened to you today?”

He was acting too strangely today. Lin Xin couldn’t help but think of that phone call he dropped and immediately asked, “Are you hiding something from me?”

Lin Xinyu’s impulse was like a volcano without any aftereffects. ‘Puff’, not even a spark was lit.

He lowered his head like an aggrieved puppy as he said, “Nothing much, I’m just not in a good mood.”

Lin Xin still felt that he was hiding something from her. She wanted to ask if he was feeling down but thought it’d be better not to.

Kids grow and have a mind of their own.

She stretched out her hand to pat his head, and Lin Xinyu stooped in front of her.

Rubbing his hair, she said, “Cheer up, that sad expression’s extremely ugly.”

Lin Xinyu thought that since they were still young, it didn’t matter if she didn’t understand he liked her since he would still have plenty of chances to let her know in the future.

It felt less depressing to be misunderstood thinking this way so he gave her a big grin and followed her home again.

It was about half-past nine when they got home. Today, Cheng Qingrong found the time to come home early and was watching television with Aunt Hui in the living room.

Seeing the two children return, he did not want to curse in front of Aunt Hui and asked, “Why are you back so late? Have you eaten?”

Ever since Wu Anan, Zhao Qiang, and Amy appeared, Lin Xin had been in a hurry the past few days.

Anxious to make money, she shamefully used everything in her means to plagiarize. Now she didn’t want to waste time attending school. Rather than growing up with Lin Xinyu, she wanted to spend her time on what she could do.

Using an adult’s voice she addressed Cheng Qingrong, “I have something to discuss with you.”

These few years, Cheng Qingrong had almost forgotten that Lin Xin was so assured.

Especially during the two years they’ve spent together, he had treated her like a child.

He didn’t dare to neglect the sudden appearance of her true colors.

The two of them went into the study room. After exiting the room, he announced:

‘From tomorrow onwards, Lin Xin will take a break from school. Lin Xinyu will go to school on his own.’

After hearing of this, Lin Xinyu’s improved spirit once again dropped to the bottom of the valley. He didn’t know what Lin Xin usually did in her spare time. He only knew that she’d never again be with him.

This distressed him so much, he felt as if he was dying. But when he saw Lin Xin smiling at him and asking him to accompany her, he was unable to say anything.

He didn’t dare ask her for anything and didn’t dare say no to her.

Lin Xinyu spent the night in a state of panic.

The next day, Lin Xin went to school with him to process her leave from school. When she left, Amy sent her to the school gate and gave Lin Xin the bracelet she had brought with her.

“Although you’re weird, I know that you’re a good person. If you were a man, I would definitely marry you.”

Lin Xin held onto the bracelet, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

What’s this called? ‘Confession’ disorder?

However, she’d never been popular with girls since young. Like it was in her previous life, it was the same in this one. Since this was the first time she had received a confession, she might as well keep it.

She put away Amy’s bracelet and said, “Study properly and get into a good university,” like an elder talking to their junior.

She really was old, Lin Xin thought.

After leaving school, Lin Xin went straight to the company.

Yu Fei didn’t have any classes this morning, so he came over to work.

The company only had the two of them now, they could directly talk about the development of a mobile app.

After Lin Xin told Yu Fei her thoughts, he immediately took action by writing the codes for this app while also adding his own ideas.

Seeing him this way, Lin Xin was even more convinced she’d picked up a treasure by inviting Yu Fei. But still wondered, why did she write ‘change the world’ in that ad?

It was as if she’d suddenly thought that what she did could change the world and unconsciously typed that in. Thinking about it now, it was still quite strange.

However, Yu Fei was aiming for the words ‘change the world’, there was only a margin of difference between a genius and idiocy. All in all, this was fate.

The two of them spent more than half a month in the office researching and revising before they finally finished the rough outline of the app.

They were able to do so faster than they thought because Yu Fei’s concepts in this area far exceeded this era.

Lin Xin, seeing his value, directly let Yu Fei buy into her company with a 10% share.

This was a huge pie for a college student who had not graduated yet. He only cared about technology and innovation. He didn’t need to invest or promote. For people who only wanted to ‘change the world’, it was undoubtedly a great benefit.

Yu Fei took the share contract and signed it without thinking.

Many years later, he would recall how Lin Xin had tricked him when he realized his stock shares were too low.
