Chapter 99: What did the doc say?

This chapter’s been edited by Larkspur, please give her a warm welcome~ ^^

Lin Xinyu went back to Ming Ge’s to get his school bag.

As soon as he saw him, a curious Zhao Qiang, who had remained behind asked him what he’d been up to.

However, Lin Xinyu had deliberately barred him from joining, in fear that, once Zhao Qiang knew, he would slip up before Lin Xin.

His only choice was to keep him out of the loop. He simply said, “Brother Ming called on me for a debt collection that was due.”

Zhao Qiang didn’t linger on the subject, not daring to ask Lin Xinyu why he wanted to join the gang. He assumed Lin Xinyu didn’t care much about what he’d done. While he felt guilty, he felt even more broad-minded.

Little did he know that Lin Xinyu saw people in only two shades now, useful and useless. Zhao Qiang had managed a spot in the former. Besides, he aimed to cultivate his own power too, so Zhao Qiang served as a good start.

Carrying a school bag, an anxious Lin Xinyu took a taxi to his appointment at Lin Xin’s company.

Lin Xin’s company was several times larger than it first was, and she was keen on further expansion.

Doing everything herself, and she was still at it, sparing no effort, working hard.

Lin Xinyu did not want to disturb her, so he stood at the door and looked on quietly.

Lin Xin was tired and stretched before she saw him.

“You’re here…”

She closed the datasheets, turned off the computer, got up, tidied up the papers on her desk, and asked, “What did the doctor say?”

Lin Xinyu was still at the door looking at Lin Xin.

“The doctor says it’s all right, and to get some rest. He asked me to refrain from overworking and advised me to not go to evening self-study.”

Lin Xin thought about it and said, “It’s all right, health comes first. Did he say anything about heart surgery?”

Lin Xinyu made up some more words and beat around the bush. When Lin Xin packed up and went downstairs, she was a little tired and wanted to take a taxi. Lin Xinyu, on the other hand, wanted to spend more time with her and insisted on walking.

Lin Xin followed him in everything, and the two walked back along the road.

Lin Xin didn’t go to bed until 1 or 2 AM these days and would still be up by five or six in the morning. She didn’t want Lin Xinyu to worry about her and so kept mum. Dragging her heavy legs, her entire body fell on Lin Xinyu’s arm.

A moment of dependency brought him satisfaction; he touched her cold hand.

“You do not have to start a company; I’ll make a lot of money. I can protect you, too.”

Lin Xin smiled and said, “How much money can you make as a child? It’s time to study hard now, you know?”

Lin Xinyu complied with a sound and stopped answering. He put his hand around her shoulder and said, “I’ll carry you.”

Lin Xin disagreed. “You’re not in good health. I’m just tired, not disabled.”

“Get on my back.” Lin Xinyu insisted, his arm around her shoulders tightened. Lin Xin felt some pain.

She sensed something off about him, thinking that if he wished to carry her, she would just let him; and if he couldn’t move anymore, he would just put her down.

Lin Xin nodded and said, “All right, carry me on your back. If I’m too heavy, you have to put me down, don’t even think about showing off.”

Lin Xinyu squatted down happily, patted himself on the back and said, “Come up here. I promise I can carry you home.”

Lin Xin lay on his back. She didn’t weigh a hundred jin yet, but she verged on Lin Xinyu’s limit. He picked her up with clenched teeth.

“Oh, you’re so light,” He said, in a relaxed tone.

*100 jin = 50 kg
