Li Beinian had only just finished her meal when Mu Xichen called.
She was in the nanny van and stole a glance at Cheng Su and then Bai Yuan before picking up the call.
“Hi, what’s up?” She deliberately tried to sound hostile.
Sounding completely unaffected, he asked, “Where are you?”
“Oh… Just finished dining, what’s up?” She looked out of the window as she spoke.

“I’ll go pick you up.” Mu Xichen spoke in a flat tone.
However, Li Beinian caught a hint of sweetness in it and couldn’t help smiling.

There was a moment of silence, then his expressionless voice spoke with a barely detectable underlying affection.

The corners of her lips turned upwards as she said, “Don’t you have to work today?”
Without answering the question, he asked instead, “Where are you?”
“Huh. I have to work even if you don’t have to.”
She whispered with dissatisfaction. Then, she obediently looked around and told her location.
After getting the nanny van to stop by the side of the road, Li Beinian put on her gear and got out of the vehicle.
With her hair down and wearing her sunglasses, mask, and hat, she stood by the road as though waiting for a cab.
