Lila put the whole conversation with Kara to the back of her mind. So when she found out her new post was the engine room. She didn't know what to make of the command.

"Is there some kind of mistake? I sure I don't have clearance for the engine...."

"Tsk...no there is no mistake. You are Kara's friend right." The officer's question made every piece of the puzzle connect.

"I'm not her friend. I didn't ask for this."

The officer look clearly said he doesn't believe one word coming out of her mouth. If there is one thing Lila knows about the military is that they hate when people receive special treat for who they knew.

Lila didn't bother explaining anymore. Rather go to the person who started it all.

_______

The engine room had always held it's appeal to Lila. These engines were one of the most advance piece of technology mankind has ever develop. And Lila was now touching it.

When Lila entered to room, her anger levels dropped five levels seeing the technology before her. She didn't even see Kara sitting at the table waiting for her.

Walking around, Lila's brain was dissecting and reassembling the core. And still she couldn't stop looking at it.

"Amazing isn't it? " Lila didn't hear Kara walk from behind her.

"You should be thankful. Even after slapping me, I still talked them into giving you clearance." Kara walked away from the core.

"I was able to get you a week to fix the engines. Was I trying for a month, but who knew the Commander would...."

"Hahaha..." Lila's laughing completely stopped Kara monologue.

"I would should just you stop laughing and start on the engines. Even the crew and that snotty Pace couldn't figure out what is wrong. They had a months, you only have a..."

"Week? No, you only have a week. I truly don't understand why you can't get this through your head. Is it because you have selective memory loss. Or is it cause your just a massive bitch, that everything people say to you goes in one ear and out the other without any comprehension. I said we are never going back to the way things were..."

*SLAP*

Lila felt blood coat her mouth.

"Are you crazy!?"

"No, just returning what you gave me. Do you really think I don't have the abilities to make you my puppet Lila? Or should I call you Ms. Joy?"

Lila face scrunched up with the mention of Ms. Joy's name. 'Were was Kara going with this?'

"I kept wondering how someone like you was able to get a ticket?...hahaha...Comes to find out you stolen Ms. Joy's ticket. Your name isn't anywhere on the ticket roster. Do you know what they do to people who steal other people's chance at survival. It's considered murder. Oh, Lila I know you wanted a seat, but I never though you would kill your own forester mother for her's."

"You have no idea what you are taking about. Ms. Joy gave me her ticket. I didn't steal anything!"

"Oooh, is that how it went? Well lets just call Ms. Joy and ask her alright. Oh, that's right we can't, can we Lila? "

Kara's bright smile, didn't hide the gloating in her voice as she saw Lila's face crumble with realization.

"I'll go talk to the Commander myself, and explain the situation." Lila was clenching at straws and they both knew it.

"Sure, sure go ahead.... Well that is if your even able to meet him. But then will he trust your words. Tell me how do you think that will go?"

Leaving the question hanging between them. Kara turned away from Lila.

"You have one week Lila."

The door closed behind Kara's exit.

_____

Five Days Later

Sitting at the core panel, Lila had already grasped the problem with engines couple of days ago.

An electromagnetic pulse ran through the core in the astroid field. Short-circuiting the engines. Making the plasma within the core discharge malfunctioning. The reason why the crew wasn't able to pick up on the problem is because the magnetic pulse is still screwing with the readings.

Lila didn't need the full week. Truly she can pass the work off to the crew themselves. But she knew once she did. All credit and Lila's freedom would be given to Kara. She had to find a way to cut her strings from Kara's hands.

"The saying is true. No matter what roaches will survive us all." Lila though as Kara walked in through the door.

"Have you found the answer yet, I would like to get the Commander off my back already."

Reaching Lila's side, she looked over her shoulder to see a bunch of formula equations. Which made absolutely no sense to her.

"Hmm...Yes." In all honesty Lila just doodle a couple of formulas to covered up the real work she was doing.

"Great!...." Kara pulled the piece of paper out from under Lila's hands. "I'll give this to him, to hold him over. Keep working." She left as fast as she came.

Lila blew a sigh of relief when Kara left with just a piece of paper. Usually she'll stay all day. To make it seem like she working.

Today Lila could finish the last of her plan.

____

A piece of paper flutter to the floor. The Commander watched Kara exit out the doorway.

"Sir, is something wrong with the paper?" Secretary Jun pick up the paper off the floor. Skimming over the sheet of paper Kara gave the General as her work.

"Yes. It's just a bunch of missed used formulas.....Plus it's not her hand writing."
