"Done." Mika held up the wristband in her hand, happy with her work.

Opening up the comms, she sent out a letter to her mother, chronicling all the events since she left the Amara household.

Especially highlighting the part about Mommy Dearest Lady Delju and her brother, Lord Kendel. With her mother's help, she can take care of Lady Delju and Lord Kendel simultaneously without waiting until she gets back to Kaia.

Comm sent, Mika then opened up another comm to send to Saavi, she didn't want her companions showing up to ruin the plans she was putting into motion.

Believing the two comms would reach their respective party in time, Mika placed the band her wrist. Looking around the quiet tent, she felt the weight of exhaustion beating at her body.

A day of walking, performing surgery on a tree, and dealing with a general and a prince tired her out. Recharging for the busy day tomorrow, Mika placed safety enchantments in the corners of the tent and went to sleep.

As night fell on the camp, Ailwin was seated at his table, looking over reports coming in from the border when Braeden walked in.

"Is she gone?" Braeden said, looking around the room.

"Yes..." Ailwin glanced down at his wristband, "you're late."

"I didn't want to run into that demon child...What clan actually gave birth to her?"

"The Amara."

"The Amara clan! That brat is from a noble house!?"

"En, so watch how you speak about her. I don't want the King's people to make use of it." Ailwin reminded his friend of the state they were in with the royal family. Anything negative said about him, or his people will always be used against them.

"Yes, I know....I'll only insult her in my head from now on, okay?" Braeden took the seat opposite Ailwin and skimmed over the reports.

"Your brothers are still at?" Braeden shook his head at the amount of information Ailwin's network was able to collect. At this rate, they can take down the royal family any time they wanted.

"En, they were the ones who help instigate the villagers and small clans to riot."

"What!? Do they understand how many innocent Fae died because of this!?" Braeden was once again sick to his stomach from the actions of the royal family. Most of the rumors and stories about the imperial family were drastically downgraded from the truth. Being under Ailwin's employment has shown him that not every King needs to be respected.

"The fight for the throne has been a long time coming...my siblings will use any means necessary to get power, and that includes mine." Ailwin threw down the report in his hand, disgusted with the information in it.

Apparently, his third older brother, Thallan, was very busy trying to persuade their father to have his military status withdrawn and his Shadow Wolves army taken away from him.

Braeden picked up the report, reading it before doing the same as Ailwin, tossing it aside in disgust.

"Does Thallan really think that if he whines to your father, he can just take your army? The Shadow Wolves march under your mother's maiden family, the Relze clan, not the royal family's."

"Yes, but I am part of the royal family, whether I like it or not. If the king decides to remove my military status as commander, the Shadows Wolves will be without a leader and will no longer be considered an army. Which means..."

"They will be demoted to household guards, who stay in their clan's estate..."

"Precisely why he wants my military title dismissed. He knows our other siblings have been trying to rope me into their circle...since he can't have me and my army, no one can..."

"What are you going to do?" Braeden was confident that Ailwin had a counterattack.

"Nothing...for now."

"But won't that mean Thallan will get his way?" Braeden wasn't sure of what Ailwin was thinking.

"Braeden, trust me...When Thallan gets the king to agree, he'll only be stepping on his own foot..." Seeing that his friend didn't understand his meaning, Ailwin explained.

"The border circumstances have yet to be resolved, the larger clans were killed and raided, and the villagers are still suffering...Do you think the riots will stop?..."

"...no, they will get bigger. The larger clans will want justice, and the villagers will want honey and care for their sick..."

"Exactly. If I'm no longer able to utilize my army, then it only leaves my siblings to solve the problems they made...and by then it will have snowballed into a disaster they won't be able to solve."

Ailwin picked up the report lying on the table and threw them into the waiting fire.

"For now we can relax, and our men can heal their wounds...when they realize they need me, more than I need them, they will have to beg..." Ailwin looked into the fire that burned all the secret reports and smirked.

"What time should we head out?" Braeden was happy to be done with cleaning up behind the royal family and wanted to get back home to the Relze clan as soon as possible.

"We can't just yet..."

"Why!?"

"We can't alert the snake, we'll continue to "protect" the border. Also," Ailwin turned to Braeden as he massages his temples, "did you forget your bet?"

*cough**cough* Braeden choked on the tea he was siping.

"....no, I didn't forget." Avoiding Ailwin's stare, he poured himself another cup of tea.

"What did she say...?" Even though Braeden was acting like he didn't care, his trembling hand gave him away.

"Tsk! Pathetic. How could you be afraid of a young girl?" He never thought he would see the day that his friend would shudder at the mention of a girl.

"How do you know if she's really a young girl!?" Braeden refuses to believe that he been made a fool of by a fledgling.

"I check there is a Mikaela Amara from the Amara clan in Kaia."

"That doesn't mean anything," pulling Ailwin closer to him, Braeden whispered into his ear. "evil will take any form to deceive us...."

Looking Braeden in the eyes, Ailwin smacked the back of his head and turned away.

"Don't blame someone else for your mistakes. You're a distinguished general who made a bet with a fledgling and lost. If that wasn't bad enough, you then went back on your word! You're lucky you are my friend because if you weren't, I would strip you of your title and throw you out of my army for embarrassing the Shadow Wolves' name..." Ailwin pestered Braeden for the next half hour until all his frustrations were released.

"Okay, okay, already. I admit it I was wrong, no need to keep yelling at me." Braeden couldn't take any more of Ailwin's nagging.

"...but I still feel there is something unusual about that girl..." Braeden grumbled.

"Like what?" Ailwin curiously asked.

"...I can't say..." Braeden dejectedly said.

"Get out."

Fed up with his friend, Ailwin threw him out of his tent.
