"Look, it's only engagement for now, if she turns out to be not who I believe her to be then I will annul."

Braeden still didn't understand why Ailwin proposed in the first place. They could have gotten themselves out of trouble without him tying himself to the girl, but Ailwin always plotting in his head. He supposes this is one of them.

"This way, sir." The servant leading them to Lord Tasar's office opens the door for them to enter.

"En, thank you."

As soon as they enter joyous laughter greets them. It seems Lord Tasar and Lord Mano decided to start the celebration early with some wine.

Two half-full glasses sat on the center table with a bottle of Frozin Fume wine next to them.

"Prince Ailwin, come have a drink..." Tasar stood up with a full glass in his hand.

"Thank you, Lord Tasar...Lord Mano..." Minding his manners, Ailwin cheer to the two Lords before down the wine in one gulp.

"Good...good...you took a while, you need to catch up to us..." Tasar patted Aiwin on the back before pouring him another glass.

"Prince Ailwin..."

"Please, Lord Mano call me Ailwin." Ailwin held out his glass when Mano wanted to refill his glass of wine.

"Alright, Ailwin...though I agreed to your proposal, I will still need to talk to my wife about it...also because Mika is still young I would like to keep this engagement a secret until she becomes of age, at eighteen. Is that alright with you?"

Getting straight to the point, Mano wanted to work out the best engagement that Mika can have.

Marrying a prince is exceptional, but he knows the royal family well, and he doesn't want his daughter to be a sacrificial lamb.

"Yes...that is fine with me..."

"...Also, she will begin schooling soon. I want her to finish before the wedding...can you wait for her?"

Ailwin thought about what Lord Mano was really asking of him since education depends on the person, not their age.

Some people only go to school for two to three years then graduate while others take ten or more years to finish their studies. If Mikaela is one of those people, he'll remain an engaged-man until she ready to tie the knot.

Though he isn't crazily dating women like his brothers are, he is not planning to be kept on a fish line by Mika and her father.

"That is not possible...As Lord Mano knows I'm the Commander of the Shadow Wolves. My army protects the citizens of Kaia Kingdom. I don't know when my life might end..."

"So, you can't wait for her to finish her schooling...?"

"I can wait five years...no more than that."

As a witness, Lord Tasar's job is to record the engagement agreement, stay silent through the proceedings, and hope his friend can work out an excellent marriage for his daughter.

"Okay, five years. No more, no less."

"En...thank you, Lord Mano." Ailwin saluted to Lord Mano again as his gulped down another glass of Frozin Fume wine.

"Mmm...we shall follow the standard betrothal gifts in line with my daughter's status...yes?"

"Yes, of course."

"Good..." Mano drank another glass as Tasar jotted everything down as they agreed upon it.

"....Lord Mano, is something bothering you?" Ailwin could see Mano wanted to say something but was hesitant to.

".....actually, yes there is..." Mano took a deep breath before continuing.

"I know you are not a beloved son of the King, it's one of the reasons why I said yes. If you were, I would not have even entertained the idea of you marrying my daughter..." Mano placed the glass in his hand down on the table.

"Prince Ailwin, who are you supporting for the throne?... I know by me asking this it might be considered lobbying, but I need to know what kind of person I might be tying my daughter to..." Staring into Ailwin's eyes, Mano waited on the edge of his seat for his answer.

"....Lord Mano, may I ask who you are supporting for the throne..?" Though Mika had already told him, it never hurt to ask again.

This is a very sensitive topic for the two. If the two were to find out they are supporting each other opposing party, it might expose their factions' power.

"The Amara clan never takes political sides....ever." Ailwin nodded.

Basically, Lord Mano is telling him that even if he were to make a run for the throne the Amara clan will still stay out of it.

"Lord Mano you can reassure, I'm supporting none of my siblings and I'm not looking to stay in the palace." Mano nodded, as his heart was put at ease.

With Prince Ailwin not supporting anyone and has no plans for the throne, Mano can rest easy knowing Mika won't be thrown into harm's way.

Ailwin was liking Lord Mano more and more, most clan leaders won't do what he did. Many would hand over their children at the slight chance of profit.

"Is there anything else we need to further discuss...?" Ailwin wanted to get some rest before dinner. The wine was feeling too good in his system right now, it was relaxing his weary muscles from the constant travels, drawing him into having a nice nap.

"...There is one more thing..." Picking up his wine, Mano drank the last bit of Frozin Fume wine in his glass.

"...it's a high possibility that Mika will be the next Amara clan leader...will that be a problem for you?"

"No, it won't."

"Good."

Mano and Ailwin shook hands as Tasar finish up the contact. Signing their names at the bottom, Tasar gave them each a copy.

"Lord Tasar, can I bother you to lend a couple of rooms for me and my people to use?"

"Of course..of course, I may not be able to accommodate your whole army but the squad you have come in with will be no problem," Tasar called for Durlan to show Prince Ailwin to a residence.

"By the way, Lord Tasar and Lord Mano...I have the rest of the Vlacca clan members and servants. As per the Kaia Kingdom's and the Steppe's agreement, they will be given over to you two to handle however way you see fit." With that, he said bid ado to Tasar and Mano and left the office.

"Prince Ailwin, this way please." Durlan led Ailwin's party a short distance to their rooms.

Once there, his captains did a cursory check of the house before deeming it safe.

Picking a room, Ailwin flop down onto the bed, yawning and stretching out his body preparing for a good nap.

"Ah... it's been a long day of getting a wife...."
