Delicious food lined the tables, and sweet wine filled everyone's glasses. Laughter and music flooded the air while servants, guards, and clan members all enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere.

Lord Tasar and Lord Mano were reminiscing on former times as their glasses were never too far from their mouths. Mika was happy to see her father relaxed and enjoying himself amongst the festive mood, unfortunately, she couldn't do the same.

A particular person sitting across from her has been staring holes into her head for the past hour. It was so bad it was disrupting her from eating all the delectable food in front of her.

Braeden has been staring at Mika's face trying to see what Ailwin sees in her, but all he could see is a minx. Scowling intensely, Braeden decided he needs to convince his friend to back out while he still could.

Before he could implement his plan, Mika turned her head fed up with Braeden's actions and returned his stare.

Caught off guard by Mika's bold moves, Braeden was fluster looking around the table before facing her stare.

All around them everyone was having fun while these two, one is a famous General of the Shadow wolves and the other is a young miss of a prominent clan, were having a 'no-blinking contest' by themselves.

Refusing to blink or look away from her stare, Braeden gave all his focus into winning over Mika.

I have to win at least one match with this girl or my pride as a man won't let me sleep tonight. Braeden opened his eyes wide to glare at the smirking girl across the table.

Mika found this General hilarious.

He is just like the villain cartoon characters of my past life. No matter how many times they suffer from their antagonist, they keep coming back for more. Well, might as well get his suffering over with before my food gets too cold.

Raising her hand that held a dried currant, Mika aimed and threw the currant straight at Breaden's forehead.

He could either move his head out of the way or catch the flying dried currant, but either he'll lose.

Braeden watched as Mika raised her arm to throw the dried currant. He was contemplating his options to win their little game when the next thing he knows the dried currant smacked the center of his forehead and stay there.

*Pfft!* *Cough! Cough!* *Pfft!* *Cough! Cough!* *Hahaha!*

Ailwin and Saavi, who were watching the whole situation between Braeden and Mika, couldn't contain their laughter and choke on their food and drink.

Ailwin never saw his friend in such a foolish sight. He didn't realize he was laughing until his wine went down the wrong windpipe.

"Why didn't you avoid it...hahaha...?" Ailwin turned to Braeden who still has the dried on his forehead.

Pulling the fruit off his forehead, Braeden threw it down on the table.

"I wanted to win, I thought I had more time to figure out what to do..." He glanced in Mika's direction to see her back to eating from her plate as her maid tried to mask her laughter behind her handkerchief.

Ignoring the ridicule in their eyes, Braeden turns to face Ailwin.

"Why would you want to marry someone like that!?" Picking up his drink off the table, he chugs it.

"You're not marrying her, so why are you making a fuss?"

"How can you say that I'm your best friend!... How can I let my best friend marry that minx!?" Giving Mika the side-eye, he saw her raise the bowl of dried currants and offer it to him, which made her maid laugh out loud all over again.

"Damnit...that woman it so loud...!" Braeden's face redden.

As the night wore on and everyone got tipsier, Mika thought this would the best time to relieve herself. Excusing herself from Saavi's presence to walk off all the food, she made her way to the back gardens.

Ailwin took this chance to excuse himself as well from Braeden's gloomy presence and follow behind her.

Though she didn't heal another tree, Mika does want to call a spirit to connect with as she did with Yumsa, to monitor the Udava trees. With everyone basically drunk, this would be a perfect time.

Walking deeper into the garden, Mika looked for the ideal place to call forth the Spirits.

Spotting a gap in the trees, Mika came into a small clearing that let the moon illuminate the area.

Checking out the area, Mika found this to be as best as she was going to get. Preparing to sing, she stopped when she heard a snap of a branch.

"Who's there!? Come out!" Moving the knife she took from the feast from her sleeve, Mika grasped it tightly in her hand. She expects anyone from the Udava clan to be hostile, but one can never know.

Ailwin cursed his feet for not following his orders. Maybe he drank too much wine at the celebration that it really affected his mobility.

"Relax, it's just me..." Ailwin had no other choice but to out himself to Mika. He doubted she'll continue her plans now.

Stepping into the clearing so Mika can see his face, Ailwin walked straight up to her before sitting down on the ground.

Mika hadn't sense anyone behind her this whole time. She knew Prince Ailwin was a powerful Commander, she just didn't realize he is this formidable.

I need to be more careful, Mika thought as she watched Ailwin sit beside her.

"What are you doing following me?"

"Can't a male protect his fiancee..."

"You know I'm only thirteen..." You pedo.

"I know. That's why I'm going to wait until you turn eighteen..."

"Oh...good..." That means I need to have as much fun as I can in the next five years before this mofo ties me down.

"Yes...I even agreed to let you finish schooling before we marry...aren't I the best..."

"So you are only giving me five years to finish my schooling..." Seems like I'm gonna have to be a college party girl.

"I was able to finish my schooling in three...I think I'm giving you more than enough time, besides I won't marry an idiot..."

*Tsk* Show-off!

"Funny I thought your husband is one..."

"Husband?.... Braeden is not my husband, and he is not an idiot!"

Hmph, but you knew who I was talking about though...

"You could have fooled me..."

"For some reason, you bring out the fool in him."

"It has to be already there for me to bring it out."

Silence settled between to two before Ailwin turned to ask a question.

"You like trees?"

".....yeah." What I dumb question, we're practically elves for crying out loud!

"Honey Trees?"

"....doesn't everyone like honey trees?" Where is he going with this?

"Your family owns a tree farm, right? Do you take care of the trees there?" Ailwin studied Mika's facial expressions as he asks his questions, trying to get some kind of clue as to why she was at Lord Tasar's farm.

".....What are you trying to find out...Ailwin?" Mika could clearly see he was digging for answers, but she didn't know why.

"Fine...why did you go to Lord Tasar's farm?" He followed me, or did he have someone else follow. Probably the latter.

Mika was shocked but schooled her features into giving nothing away.

"I won't tell...I just curious why-"

"Mind your own business."

"E-Excuse me...?" Ailwin was bewildered by Mika's attitude towards him.

"Mind. Your. Own. Business." Mika slowly spoke the words again as clearly as she could before getting off the ground.

Dusting off her clothes, she turned to walk away.

"Mika, wait!..." Ailwin got up from the ground and grabbed her arm.

"....are you mad?"

"No." Yes.

Mika's face was so expressionless he couldn't read anything from it.

*Sigh*

"Mika, you have to understand that I'm a prince. I have to be on my guard all the time against everyone...until I deem them trustworthy." Ailwin didn't understand the reason why he was explaining himself, never did so before.

"En...I understand."

"You do...?" A little relief smile showed on Ailwin's face.

"Yes...but you have to understand that that is a two-way road. Just because you are a prince doesn't mean I have to lower my guard for you. I need trustworthy people as well..."

"Well, I'll be leaving tomorrow that doesn't give me enough time to earn your trust."

Mika brushed Ailwin's hand off of her arm.

"Have you forgotten already...? You have five years to earn my trust before I'll let you put a ring on this finger." Mika held up her middle finger in front of Ailwin's face.

"Oops...I meant this one." Mika switched to holding up her ring finger before turning to return to the celebration.
