Eymmth only had a hundred credits left. Valindra had seventy, Deulara barely made it with forty-five and Vasati had a negative two hundred and forty credits.

"This can't be happening....we were suppose to fight, not play this card game! I want a rematch! A REMATCH!" Kicking her chair back from the table, she looked towards the referee and the judges hoping they would give her another chance again.

"No."

A clear deep tenor voice came from the judges' stand, denying Vasati's pleads. When everyone looked over they saw Prince Ailwin standing up, facing the stage.

"We gave you a second chance already in the match. If you aren't prepared to lose, then you shouldn't have asked for the match in the first place. You have lost, accept it." Having said his peace, Ailwin retook his seat as council members came to help control the situation.

The arena was silent as they watched the hysterical Vasati being escorted off the stage. The scene was hard to watch for the audience, it was even harder to watch for the other players.

When Vasati started to shout Kamryn's name and beg her for help, that is when the other players were reminded that they wouldn't have been in this situation if it weren't for Kamryn talking them into it.

When Vasati was finally gone, Mika looked at the referee, "Shall we continue...?"

Those words felt like nails driven into each one of her opponents' coffins.

"Yes...the bet?"

Deulara was afraid she would say fifty credit like she did for Vasati, but to her surprise Mika said, "Forty-five."

In the same position that Vasati was in before, Deulara could feel everyone's eyes were on her.

As the referee was dealing out the cards, she glanced at Mika trying to see if she could read anything from her face. When Mika felt Deulara's eyes on her, she looked over a gave her a bright smile.

She can't have the same luck as last time, can she?

Heart in her throat, she peeked at her own faced down card and sighed in relief,

....nineteen.

"General's Bounty..." Mika voice interrupted Deulara's calm.

Deuulara looked across the table, Mika flipped over her faced-down card showing an Ace and a Jack.

How is this possible!?

Deulara didn't even realize she had stood up from the table and reached for Mika's cards until the referee was calling her name.

Feeling light headed and dizzy, she plopped down into her seat as the cards in her hand fluttered to the floor. Her heartbroken expression was on every monitor screen. She didn't know when or how, but she eventually left the stage on her own.

"...and then there were two..." Mika said to Eymmth and Valindra as the referee went to get a new deck.

"F**K!" Eymmth looked at how many credits he had left, only fifty-five. Though it was low at least he was in a better position than Valindra who only had twenty-five credits in her bank.

By the time the referee came back, the tension at the table was high.

Shuffling the deck, the referee ask Mika to place her bet.

"Twenty-five..."

Once Mika's bet was placed, all eyes turned to Valindra.

"Damn, it's like she just plucking them off one by one..." Everyone in the audience began to whisper as Valindra put up her last twenty-five credits.

Sweaty and edgy, Valindra didn't think that when Kamryn and Lula had asked her to be part of their scheme, that she would be sitting in a chair sweating over a deck of cards.

After all the cards were dealt, the referee asked Eymmth if he wanted another.

"Stay."

"Player 4...?"

"Hit."

A three...

"Hit."

A five...

On the table in front of her, Valindra had four cards. Three facing up and one facing down, with the total amount equaling nineteen.

The crowd and the referee waited as she debated whether to take the risk for the fifth card.

If she did and win the five-Knights, she wouldn't have to worry about the next round. However, if she didn't and Mika beats her hand it's game over.

Valindra had everyone waiting a good five minutes before the referee had to remind her that she was holding up the game.

"Stay." Valindra finally choose to play it safe, making the audience and the referee breath out the mouth full of air they were holding.

"Player 1?"

"Hit"

A Queen was placed in front of her. Valindra heart dropped as she realized she made the right move.

"Stay."

"Please, show us your cards..."

Eymmth turned over his faced-down card, showing...seventeen. Valindra, flipped her last card showing nineteen. Everyone look to Mika, waiting for her to show her final card.

"Eighteen."

Valindra closed her eyes in relief as Eymmth felt the cold press of a scythe on his neck.

Watching his credits flow into Mika's bank as his own credits dwindled, allowed him to comprehend what Vasati and Deulara had felt.

"Player 1, bet..."

"Mmm... Let's do twenty credits."

Watching the last of his credits enter into the pool, Eymmth prayed that he is dealt good cards.

Peeking at his bottom card, he smiled and looked at the referee...

"Hit."

A King...

Eymmth wanted to laugh but instead tears fell out of his eyes. Seeing this reaction, the referee flipped over his faced-down card.

"Player 2... Twenty-two, bust."

Eymmth remained in his seat crying as the referee moved on to Valindra.

"Stay."

"Player 1?"

"Hit."

A nine.

"Stay."

"Please, show your cards."

Valindra had twenty while, Mika had eighteen. Winning two rounds back to back had calmed down Valindra's nerves but hearing Eymmth crying next to her was bring back her anxiety.

Noticing that Eymmth had no intention of moving, the referee had to call in some of the council members to pulled him off the stage.

"...and then there was one..."
