A thin layer of sweat was collecting on Mika's forehead and back. Her arms were tired. Ten arrows seem to be her limit.

Passing her bow to Kaze, he placed it back inside its case.

"Young Miss, why don't we rest for a bit back at the tent?"

"En."

Mika let Saavi support her as Saavi led her back towards Lord Tasar's tent.

Inside Lord Tasar had watched Mika's archery. Each arrow was better than the one before. When Joanos walked up to Mikaela and assisted her with her technique, Lord Tasar was surprised. He knew they talked at the dinner, but with Mika being asleep when did they have time to become close?

Lord Tasar thought to ask Joanos what his intentions were towards Mikaela when he entered into the tent.

Waving, Lord Tasar motion for Joanos to sit next to him.

"Joanos, I saw you helping Mikaela with her archery. When did you two become close?" Lord Tasar considered it was in his responsibility as Mikaela's guardian during her stay with his clan.

"We talked during the dinner, and I found her quite... lovely."

From Joanos' words, Lord Tasar got the impression that Joanos was falling for Mikaela. If so, he would contact Lord Mano for Mikaela's hand in marriage on Joanos' behave.

Honestly, Joanos was very pitiful. Although Joanos wasn't his son, he was the last trace of his cousin and last survivor of his clan in this world.

Tasar's cousin, Omylia, married into a sacred clan. Known for their gifts of the mind, they were held in high regard in the steppes.

Who would think such a clan could be wipe out in one night.

One night Omylia called him as her clan was under attack, Tasar rushed out with the Udava guards hoping to offer support in time. When he got there, a raging fire was in consuming everything in its path, and corpses laid all over the ground. There was no crying or screams only the crackling of the fire.

Searching for clues and survivors him and his guard came across Joanos in the barn with the livestock. Hidden underneath the dried grass and clutching a dagger within his hands. His eyes were dilated and watery. His face was pale, body shaking and his breathing was erratic. Joanos was in shock.

As Tasar tried to get closer, Joanos would swing the dagger back and forth, attacking anything in front of him. After trying unsuccessfully multiple times, Tasar finally had to shoot a sleeping dart into Joanos' shoulder order to bring him back to the Udava clan.

Soon after leaving the barn with Joanos in his arms, Tasar found his cousin's body just outside the barn with a pool of blood under her body.

It's been four years since that night, and still, Tasar couldn't find the culprit responsible for the massacre.

Joanos awoke, but he couldn't remember anything. He couldn't speak a word of what took place, Tasar couldn't get any clues from his lips.

As the months went past Joanos came out of his shell, and became part of the Udava clan.

To not obstruct Joanos' growing period, or sadden him with constant reminders, Tasar didn't question him again about that night. Choosing to let him live in peace.

Over the years, Tasar notice Joanos wasn't attach to Lixiss like he use to be. Tasar knew as children, Lixiss and Joanos were, as they say, "childhood sweethearts".

Thinking to have them marry when they are older were within Tasar's plans. Although now hearing Joanos' comments about Mikaela and with Lixiss' problems, he didn't think it is possible.

If Joanos no longer had a love for Lixiss, Tasar thought he could only do right by his dead cousin and let Joanos live happily, even if he has to break his daughter's heart.

Coming back from his thoughts, he watched as Mikaela walked into the tent greeting everyone with a warm smile on her face. Even with the mask covering half her face, one could tell she is a beauty.

Turning to Joanos, Lord Tasar nodded his head agreement with Joanos' observations.

"Your right, she is lovely."

Caught up in the festive mood, no one spotted a young maid creeping out of the tent and sneaking off towards Lady Vanya's residence.

Giving two knocks at the back door, Lady Vanya personal maid, Kerala, opened the door. Looking around the area to make sure it was clear before she pulled the young maid inside.

Lady Vanya sat in front of her vanity looking over her aging face. She was stout women but for some reason fat never stayed on her face.

The skin on her face was saggy, and the wrinkles were deep. Lord Tasar was older than her by thirty, years but she looked like his mother.

Sighing, Vanya placed a pair of earrings into her ears. Having given up on her face a long time ago, Vanya relied on incantations and beauty charms for her beauty.

Vanya was admiring her new young seductive face in the mirror when she heard Kerala bringing in her informant.

Lady Vanya came from behind her room divider, the only way she'll allow anyone to see her face was with beauty charms on.

"What is happening outside?"
