Each engine room consist of an energy core. It powers the engines using radiation in a condensed form. It took Country Q space program years to get the formula correct. The initial early trials resulted in explosions of trial vassals. And all survivors received radiation poisoning.

Now Kara stood in this room to fix the very thing thousands on these ships couldn't.

"F*** this sh*t." Kara thought.

For all her years in schooling. She was never able to understand the physics behind the engines.

When she saw Lila could understand the engines as such a simple thing as tying one's own shoe laces. It was a no brain for her to steal Lila skills. And make it her own. Now it's back to bite her in the ass.

"That's it!" Kara yelled, forgetting two other people were in the same room as her.

"Kara, do know what the problem is already? We haven't even touch the controls yet and you already know. You are truly a genius."

Pace, one of the boys, declare sarcastically at Kara.

When they were in the Commander General office. Pace thought the Commander General pacifically asked for his help. Yet when he enter the conference room he saw two more people. Who would have thought the General not only woken him but also two others. Notwithstanding to solely mention only one person's name, Kara's.

Following the crew down towards the engines, Pace didn't think much of Kara. Her face showed no trace of panic, but her eyes gave her away.

"This girl a fraud." Pace laughed in his head.

Pace's family were not rich. In fact they were one step a way from being homeless. Despite that fact Pace had always been number one in his school. When he was given the ticket personally by the General. He vowed to never be that way again.

Now this 'Kara' had stolen his spot light.

Pace had step into the engine room fully prepared to work to fix the problem. Little did he know what an engine room actually looked like. He had scened it many times in the books and on blue prints in school. Now being up close, Pace felt all his confidence seep out of his feet.

Kara's shout had bought him out of his trance. "How could she have a plan when I couldn't even come up with anything yet." Pace sneered, while his face was full of admiration.

Kara had saw how Pace was giving her scornful looks all throughout the walk to the engine room. But her mind was thinking of all the ways she can absolve herself from this situation; to actually take time to deal with him. However now that she has found her solution...

"Yes, do you need extra time? Do you need to stand around a little bit more?"

Annoyed at being called out for his lack of initiative. Pace wanted to see if she actually had something.

"So what is the problem? What solution do you have? Can you tell us?" Pace pointed to himself and the extra boy in the room.

Kara knew he wanted to call her bluff. But if she couldn't get out of something like this, all her years of stealing Lila work would be useless.

"It's just a theory right now. I need to run it by the General. I'll leave you two to continue looking around. Just in case my plan fails." Kara swiftly left not leaving a chance for further questions.

____

By now most of he crew knew who Kara was. So when she asked where she might find Lila stationed. They quickly searched and gave her the location.

"I can't take this anymore. If I have to count one more hemorrhoid cream case. I going to lose it." Lila put the last case back onto the shelf.

Apparently space food is not all what it's cracked up to be.

"So this is what they have you doing?" When Lila heard this voice, her mood which was already low went to the seventh layer of hell.

"What do you want?" Not even bothering to look up. Lila continued on working.

"Do you want to work somewhere else? I can get you a better position..." Receiving no reply Kara tried a different tactic.

"Lila...look I want to make amends.." Seeing that Lila wasn't out right pushing her away. Joy jumped in her heart. "I know I ruined our friendship. And I'm sorry...Can we start over? I miss my best friend."

*SLAM*

The clip board in Lila's hand dropped to the floor. Kara jumped when she heard the noise. Looking into Lila's eyes there was so much contained fury. Even though Lila's body stood still as stone, her chest raised and fell with each breath she took.

"Since childhood you had been my only friend...The person who I thought who would never betray me. And yet you were the one who taught me what betrayal was." Lila bent down to pick up the clip board.

"I told you at the park that day, never again. We can never again be like how we were." Turning around Lila continued on with her work. "Now Leave. I don't need anything from you."

____

Kara thought she would be able to get on Lila's good side with sweet words and apology.

"Damn, I even apologize to her. And still she has that attitude. As if I want to really be her friend...tsk." Kara muttered looking back at the storage room.

Leaving in disappoint Kara failed to realize the shadow standing in the next door's entryway.

Pace came out of hiding when Kara left the hallway. He had followed her from the engine room. Thinking he'll get a chance to hear her plan, but he heard was her apologizing to an ex-friend.

"Why would she rush here? Instead of going to the General."

Pace peeked into the room, to see Lila restocking the shelves.

"Who are you?"
