After having dinner the couple went back home in high spirits. Since Shola stopped giving Nathan the silent treatment, Nathan took the opportunity to tell her some things she still couldn't remember.
Shola was exhausted and fell asleep the minute her head touched the pillow.
Nathan stared at her face for a while before he joined her.
Before he closed his eyes his phone suddenly rang.
He quickly answered it so that Shola won't be disturbed, he silently went to the balcony
"Hello?, mother"
"Nathan....my wonderful son!, how are you??" The Old madam's voice was so high pitched and loving that Nathan couldn't help but get nervous.
"What are you up to this time?" Nathan said with not a hint of warmth in his voice. This woman wasn't there for him when he was younger and she only noticed him when he became a well known business man
He had always considered her his mother but to her he was just her way to publicity and respect she didn't deserve.
"Nathan my dear...I'm only calling to apologize, you see I know how much you love your wife and now the both of you are no longer together"
Nathan's brows creased in confusion "What are you talking about?" Nathan got a call from Lilian and Jason a few days back telling him about the poison.
In Cole's letter, they found out that the only antidote was given to The Old madam, Nathan was still looking for someone who could help create the antidote before 3months but so far he had no luck.
Shola's health would soon start deteriorating and he might end up having no other choice than to beg his mother for it but being the person she is there would definitely be a catch.
"I just mean...once Sholana starts dying and you and my lovely nice have no cure to the poison, well...you have no choice but to do what I ask!"
The Old madam's voice was low, filled with disdain. She hated the girl, she hated the girl's mother also, so much that she wants to destroy their lives and happiness!
"Why are doing this?" Nathan asked, he couldn't understand why his mother would stop at nothing to destroy his marriage.
"Why?, Hahahaha
Because I hate that stupid hag called lana!, she took everything away from me back then and now.....now I'm going to have my revenge on her daughter.

Nathan listened to his mother speak but felt like he was listening to a psychopath
how could she drag on a rivalry of years ago, trying to hurt someone that had nothing to do with it!
"Mother, have you ever considered me your son?"
Nathan asked, he already knew the answer but, he wanted to hear it from her own lips, those words she always said to avoid his question and to show him where he stands in her life and heart
"Son, you are my greatest achievement." The Old madam said, Nathan took a deep breath to suppress his feelings, she would only ever like his older sister.
She was exactly the same as their mother.
"Why won't you just let me be happy?, why can't you just stay out of my life?"
"I have invested too much into your future already, that woman! as long as she is by your side,
Nathan was tired of this conversation, he ended the call without thinking twice
He sat at the balcony for a while deep in thoughts, what would happen when the poison starts to take effect?, would their marriage really end like this?.

Shola woke up smiling, she stretched her hand a bit to hug Nathan

Shola stared at the dark circles under his eyes and got worried "Why were you sitting here?, it was really cold at night did take a blanket?"

Nathan pulled her to sit on his lap and hugged her tightly, burying his face in her chest
"Nathan?, are you okay?" Shola couldn't help but ask, he looked like he had lost everything. .....does this mean they will go broke?!!!
"Sholana"

"Please, I need you to promise me something" Nathan raised his head to look at her.
Shola was slightly taken aback when she saw his teary eyes
"Nathan.....what's wrong?"
"Just promise me" His voice was soft, almost like a whisper. Shola nodded at him
He hugged her again "Whatever happens in the future....please don't hate me"

"I do, I would never hate you Nathan, No matter what happens!"

"What did aunt say?, did she agree to give it to you?" Lilian asked nervously, Sholana passed out three days ago and was brought to the hospital, her health only seemed to be getting worse.
Nathan went to his mother to ask for the cure but.....
"She says I should get a divorce with Sholana, only then would she give it to us"
"Is that woman in her right senses!!?" Lilian's face was red from anger, a person's life was at stake yet that woman still had the guts to try and separate them.
She looked at her cousin who had on a defeated expression, she got startled
"Don't tell me you're going to do it...Nathan!"
"What other choice do i have!?, she is going to die if I don't stop being selfish! I won't be able to live with my self knowing that she died because of my stupidity!" Nathan yelled at his cousin for the first time in his life.
He didn't want things to turn out like this but it seemed he no longer had a choice.
He took one last look at the pale woman on the bed before he walked away
'I'm sorry Sholana'
Sholana woke up a few minutes after Nathan left. She saw Lilian staring at her reports with an amused expression.
"Am I dying?, why is your face like that?"
Lilian was shocked to see that Shola had woken up, after the poison took its effects she was sure she wouldn't wake up till after she took the antidote.
''S....Shola, you're awake!"
Shola sat up and nodded her head, although she didn't know how she had ended up in the hospital.
"Why were you staring at those papers with such an expression?"
"You....You're pregnant! "
Shola had a wide smile on her face, it was the best news she had heard since all this problems started, she didn't want to celebrate alone
"Really?, does Nathan know?"
"...." Lilian didn't know what to say, Shola didn't seem to mind as she quickly grabbed her phone.
Before she could dial his number, his call came in. She was so excited that she answered it almost immediately
"Nathan!, I....."
"Sholana lets get divorced!"

"Sholana I.....I love someone else and I'm really tired of all this"

My lawyer will be there later to give you the necessary papers so I guess this is goodbye!"

He called her to end everything but when he heard her excited voice over the phone, he almost gave up.
After hanging up; he felt empty, like a part of him had been taken away
"You did well my boy..." The old madam showed him the small blue bottle in her hands.
"Now you just have to finish it"
