Shola looked at her mother in confusion, then turned to look at Nathan whose face was covered in guilt
"I'm not sure yet. I'm still trying to find out how the poison got into Sholana's food, I promise I will...."
"Don't promise anything, I do not want to hear it!" Mrs. Lana snapped as she looked at Nathan with an annoyed stare.
Nathan couldn't say anything anymore, he knew that right from the start both his mother and Mrs. Lana were never supportive of the marriage in the first place,
he was the one who convinced his father to arrange the marriage between them…..
"So my in-laws hate me?" Shola spoke up realizing that she was being forgotten.
Never in her life would she had thought that she would be like all those girls in novels that weren't liked by their in-laws but her's actually tried to kill her!
"Don't say that, its just that there.….."
"There what?!" Mrs. Lana interrupted Nathan before he could say anything.
Shola observed her mother's face and knew a storm was brewing

she was sad that her current life wasn't perfect but she had always wanted her mother to get along with her husband....sort of.
"Mom, Can you please tell me the list of things I've missed?, what's new? Like is there a new type of cellphone or a new famous singer…."
Shola began to talk about unimportant things as she knew they would divert her attention and it worked , she lightly pinched Nathan's arm secretly.
Mrs. Lana didn't even pay any attention to him, she was too excited to tell her daughter
about the things she couldn't remember, for the first time she felt like she was the modern person.

"Mr. Lu, the maid that bought the groceries that day has been caught sir" Jones said as he was grinning from ear to ear.
"And?" Nathan said clearly not impressed making Jones' expression fall. He and his team really worked hard to find the maid
' Could you be a little sensitive boss?????????????'
"We questioned her and you were right boss, .....it really was your mother, but we cannot be sure because it was her personal assistant's assistant that paid the maid"
"Ok, you can leave now and....I will reconsider firing you!" Jones noticed that his boss was no longer in a good mood so he didn't dare stay a minute longer.
Nathan stared into the distance lost in thought. The mother he tried to defend was really guilty,
did she really hate the fact that Shola had brown skin that much?
He fell in love with her at first sight and at first he thought that maybe it was just a one time thing
but when he met her again and found out she was his father's best friend's daughter, he got selfish and asked his father to talk to his friend about their marriage and just like that their wedding was fixed,
thinking back to all the hurtful words she had said to him before they got closer a faint smile formed on his lips, she really tried everything to annoy him back then.
This time he would make sure that she wouldn't get hurt ever again! A look of determination appeared on his face as he took a deep breath and walked back into the house.
Shola managed to cheer her mother up and stopped her from being angry.
Her mother offered to take her home with her but Shola declined, even though she had the mind and memories of a 16years old girl, she understood that she was now an adult and was also married.
She declined the offer and saw her mother off, once she came back she saw Nathan staring into the distance as he seemed lost in thought,
soon a faint smile appeared on his lips making look extremely attractive 'I really hit the jackpot marrying a rich and handsome and nice even though he's Chinese and not Korean he is a kind man'
Shola stared at the man till He walked back into the house, she soon followed behind him with a smile on her face.
It was after Shola came into the house that she noticed how silent and empty it was, she remembered when she woke up the previous day there were maids and also that smiling butler.
"Nathan?"
"Hm?"
"Where did the butler and maids go?"
Nathan turned around to look at her as she was also walking forward, the both bumped into each other and her nose hit his hard chest really hard.
"Ow, my nose"
"Sorry, does it hurt?"
"…" I just said 'Ow' doesn't that count as hurting?????
Shola looked up at Nathan's face, she hated the fact that he was taller than her, she couldn't have her revenge.
After the awkward silence passed, Nathan cleared his throat and continued what he was about to say.
"The doctor said that anything that will trigger your memories and come with a shock, like you passing out. She said it could be dangerous and the butler's and the maid's faces made you pass out so….. I sent them away!"
"….." Shola was speechless, she tried to imagine what he must have told the poor butler, probably....
Nathan: Your face made my wife pass out so, leave!
