Chapter 68: Bond is weaker than before

It takes a moment for her to calm herself down. Though the intense pain is gone, there's a dull ache in her soul -- an empty feeling in the bottom of her stomach. She places her hand on her chest as the tears roll out of the corners of her eyes. She breaks into sobs suddenly, not knowing the reason why.

"Hurts."

The pain is not physical. There's not a single wound on her body. It's coming from the bottom of her soul. She's yearning for something that's too far away. If she outstretches her hand, there's no one to hold it for her. It's empty and cold. Suddenly, she feels most alone in the world. Why is she feeling this way?

The bond is weak, not overwhelming like before. She can't sense Fu Sheng as if he's gone from the world. Where did he go? She receives another sting of pain in her heart. She gasps and punches the center of her chest. Then, the pain fades again -- not completely gone. She blinks in surprise. Why?

Does she have heart disease or something?

[Host?]

[Xiao Chun Dan, where were you?]

[Host, I was blocked by the bond. What happened? I see that the bond is weaker than before, but it's not completely gone.]

She doesn't know either. Fu Sheng told her that he would let her go if she pushed him once. She did and he was suddenly gone. Did that affect the bond? Why did it work this time? In the past, she rejected him many times. Did she not?

[Host, let me have a look.]

While the system is busy looking into the matter, Huang Qiuyan pulls a bed sheet around herself. Her top was torn away by Fu Sheng earlier. She touches the wound on her neck. Why did he look so sad? Why did he suddenly stop and leave? He was pretty determined to do what he wanted to do.

She's worried about him anyway. She hasn't known him for long, but that didn't seem normal. The sorrow that she saw in his eyes is pricking her heart. She purses her lips. She wants to cry. Why? Her heart is restless. Why? She wants something. What is it? She sighs. What is she looking for suddenly? What's gone?

She scratches the scalp on her head. Fu Sheng's face before he disappeared comes back to haunt in her mind. The man is a pureblood vampire. How could he have such expression? Why did he show that expression to her? Isn't he a vampire king? s this another trickery? He wants her to feel bad for him and fall for his trap.

She looks at the scrapes of her shirt on the floor. She won't surrender. Her heart only belongs to him. Ignoring the vague restlessness in her heart, she walks to the wardrobe. Why do her clothes always end up torn away? Can't he remove them like a normal person? The wardrobe is bigger than her bedroom at her mother's house. She sighs. He's a king, alright.

She walks into the wardrobe, wondering what she should pick up. Hopefully, he won't mind. Well, he didn't mind when she wore his clothes and ran the first time. The man has so many clothes. That must be the reason why he doesn't think once before tearing away clothes before having sex with her.

Insane!

His choices are pretty plain. The coats are only black. The shirts are either blue or black, having the same design. The leather shoes are black or brown. The quality is top-notched. She sighs again. Does he have a problem with his brain?

Shaking her head, she picks up a random black shirt. She tosses away the bedsheet and wears the shirt. It's big on her, reaching up to her thighs. It looks like a short shirt-dress. She nods her head in approval when she looks at her reflection. Her skin is paler than the time she was human. Her hair is a bit lighter than before. The color of her eyes has a slight red glint. She looks slightly different from the time when she was human.

She slaps the muscles on her belly. Do vampires get fat? They drink only blood though. How would they get fat? Does blood have fat?

Fu Sheng and her depression are forgotten.

The mark on her throat attracts her attention. It's faded, nearly invisible. She furrows her brows. Strange! She's sure that it was darker before.

[Host, I found the answer. It's pretty complicated. Shall I explain?]

"Yes," She replies calmly, though her heart is anything but calm.
