It was rare for Miracle Doctor Y to treat someone personally. It was definitely good news for the patients of Capital Hospital. At the same time, it was a blessing to them as well for having the chance to watch Miracle Doctor Y's treatment. It was absolutely a happy thing for them too.

In truth, medical knowledge in this world was already quite advanced. A lot of common diseases could be treated. It gave some sort of foundational guarantee to mankind's life expectancy. However, apart from the common diseases, there were more rare and complicated diseases out there.

If one were to look at the statistics, the treatable diseases in the world would only account for 20 percent of the total. The remaining 80 percent of diseases remain untreatable in modern society.

Luckily, in the 80 percent of diseases, the majority of the untreatable ones were non-fatal chronic conditions. For example pharyngitis and other inflammatory diseases.

What was left were naturally those incurable diseases. Since ancient times, life had always been extremely fragile, unable to go through the slightest storm. The number of people that died of diseases was beyond counting. Not just within the country, but even the other parts of the world suffered the same fate.

"The cost for treating diseases is getting higher and higher," Dong Miaomiao sighed as she looked at the people coming and going in the hospital.

Capital Hospital was huge, yet it seemed extraordinarily packed with a consistent flow of people. In such times, it was already lucky if they could find a place to spend the money in their hands.

A lot of people keep themselves busy for their entire life, yet were terrified to fall sick as they could not afford it.

Dong Miaomiao's eyes were glazed over. She lost her father to sickness, therefore the scene resonated deeply with her.

Thinking of that, she once again took a glance at Ye Lingchen. If she had met this person earlier, her father might not have died. If only this world had more people like him, his father would also not have to face death.

"Doctor, help!"

Right then, a woman rushed urgently out of a ward in tears. Her face had a worried expression as she shouted for help urgently.

Behind her were three guys and two girls, most likely family members. They looked just as worried as she was.

"Help! My son is having seizures again!" the woman grabbed a nearby doctor and asked urgently.

The doctor in charge of that ward had already heard the news and was rushing over. He had a serious look on his face as he asked with a deep voice, "What's the condition of the patient?"

The man's voice was hoarse. His eyes were sunken and bloodshot.

Ye Lingchen and Dong Miaomiao exchanged looks, then approached them.

Lying on the bed was a boy roughly around seven to eight years old. However, his body was being wrapped up tightly in blankets. His body trembled severely and bared his teeth. He would even occasionally let out a low growl like a dog.

Ye Lingchen's eyebrows twitched. "Rabies?"

"What else?" lamented one of the bystanders. "I heard this kid was bitten by someone's dog on the way home from school. He didn't dare voice out after reaching home and only came here when the symptoms showed. Now it's too late. Sigh!"

"What a miserable fate. I would be scared myself when I run into dogs on the street, and he's only a kid."

"This family had been here for two days already. Their tears never stopped. It's truly heartbreaking."

"I've never liked dogs. What a menace to mankind."

The others around them were shaking their heads.

To be honest, Ye Lingchen was strongly against some people that had dogs as pets.

Despite the saying of a dog being man's best friend, everything should be in moderation. It was not an absolute statement.

Dogs were, after all, animals. Their bestial instincts were impossible to remove. When it comes to children, they can be quite aggressive with their natural predatory instinct, leading to a large number of cases of children attacked by dogs.

Faced with a dog, a child's strength was negligible. If there were no guardians around, they will be bitten.

Ye Lingchen was not against having pet dogs. In fact, he even had two pet wolves.

However, it would be best if one had the ability to tame the dog and train it to be a man's friend. If not, one would have to prevent it from attacking others. Unfortunately, most of the dog owners do not have the self-awareness and think that their dogs would not bite themselves or others. That kind of mindset was no doubt ridiculous.

Especially when a lot of owners of large dogs without even leashing them, yet acting all smug. That type of behavior was truly despicable.

Try to imagine if an elderly person, child, or pregnant woman met up with that type of dog. How helpless would they be? Behind these people are families that would be destroyed by that one dog.

If met with some irresponsible dog owners, they would even shift the blame when their dog attacked someone. They would be biased towards their own dog and deny the attack to shirk responsibility.

Most importantly, rabies could only be prevented as it was still incurable! Once rabies developed, death was inevitable!

"Doctor, can my son be saved?" The entire family looked to the doctor in tears. "As long as you can save my son, I'm willing to sell off all my possessions, even my house!"

"This…" the doctor sighed heavily and frowned, finally said, "The only solution we have is to give him the rabies vaccine, which we already administered right when you arrived. However...judging by his current condition, the rabies vaccine was not effective. There are no other ways…"

Those words were no doubt sentencing him to death.

"I hope you can remain calm. The child is now a carrier as well. Please make sure you don't get bitten, or you might also be at risk of contracting rabies." The doctor turned away as he could not bear to watch.

"Doctor, please save my son. He's still so young…" The woman had already slumped to the floor.

"Once rabies takes hold, it's impossible to save."

"Sigh, this kind of disease is not something that money can solve."

Although they were unwilling to admit it, rabies was incurable with their current medical knowledge. Everyone knew that.

"Let me try."

The sudden voice stunned everyone. Their gaze then shifted onto Ye Lingchen.

"You…" The doctor looked at Ye Lingchen with a frown on his face. He felt that this doctor had an unfamiliar face, but then realization suddenly took hold and he was shocked. "Y-y-you're Y…"

Grandmaster Jiang had apparently given all the doctors in the hospital a memo.

"Just bring the child to my room," Ye Lingchen stated calmly, then turned around and left.

The crowd just looked at Ye Lingchen's back in confusion.

"Doctor, my son…"

"Your son can be saved!" The doctor was ecstatic with a grin on his face. "Today, your entire family just hit the jackpot! You've run into Miracle Doctor Y!"
