From inside her carriage, Liana stroked her swollen belly with tears in her eyes as she headed to the Theodore’s territory.

Liana’s own family was happy and warm even though her parents were arranged couples and weren’t wealthy.

And although Liana already missed her chance to marry because of her mother’s illness, she hadn’t given up on the idea of starting her own family. Liana had been thinking about quitting her job in the castle after paying off her brother’s tuition to build up her own modest and warm family just like her parents.

That small dream was crushed by the silver-haired demon.

Liana’s father might have been low ranked, but he was a loyal retainer of the royal family.

Liana had naively believed that the royal family was pure, smart, and noble.

Because of that, Liana was honored to be appointed as the King’s personal maid. She hadn’t expected that such a thing would happen to her.

She trembled as she recalled the way the King assaulted her.

Strangely, she couldn’t recall the King’s face. The only memories that surfaced were his silver hair and his low, filthy voice.

When Liana bore the burden in silence, it was the Queen who saved her.

The Queen grew suspicious of Liana and the King’s behavior so she pressed him for answers and learned everything about the affair.

The Queen was furious with the King’s unbecoming conduct and made him dogeza to Liana in apology.

Though the King had two other wives aside from the Queen, it was to keep the political powers in balance. The King did not force them to marry him. The Queen herself allowed the King to take on additional wives after hearing the suggestions of the senior vassals.

Contrary to the expected tense relationship, the Queen looked after the side queens and there was a close relationship among them.

The Queen was above the King in both public and private affairs. Their relationship was so good that they even had four children. No one would ever think that the timid King would forcibly attack a maid.
