As the woman looked at his reaction and the ancient looking book in his hands, her thoughts started to rapidly spin and an unbelievable idea struck her but she quickly shaked her head. Learning abilities from a book, how can someone believe this?
Just as she wanted to ask him more questions, a man that was inside the building with Wang Tao quickly approached from the sides.
Looking at the man, Wang Tao immediately remembered the man as he left a deep impression on him. He was one of the men that had used the Fireball Skill against the frogs earlier, he should in no way be understimated, thought to himself.
With an amiable face and a weared face from working, the man extended a hand to greet him, ignoring the woman completely.
"Nice to meet you, young hero! This man is called Zhang Wei, friends call me old man Zhang!"
Shaking his hand, Wang Tao replied with goodwill towards the man's greeting.
"I am Wang Tao. Is there anything i can do for you, sir?"
"You don't have to be overly polite with me. Just old man Zhang will be enough!"
Seeing the man's straighforwardness, Wang Tao smiled waiting for him to continue.
"That skill in your hands, is it alright if i ask you what is it? I was watching from far away as you tried to learn the skill earlier and from your reaction i assume that you failed to do so, am i right?" said the man in a calm voice as if he knew what happened.
Seeing the look of surprise on Wang Tao's face, the man chuckled.
"No need to be so surprised. When i was in town, my friend and i had to kill our way through the monsters to survive. After killing a few monsters, my buddy had gotten the class "Destroyer" and he received his own unique class skills. When we found these ancient books – like the one you hold in your hands – he tried to learn it immediately, but failed because it was not suitable for his class." explained old man Zhang kindly
"Oh? What kind of class is this Destroyer you talked about? Asked Wang Tao curiously
Having played games in the past, Wang Tao did indeed know what character classes were, including different types of jobs and skills. But ever since the world turned upside down, monsters attacked he had no time to think things thoroughly despite some minor speculations he had in the back of his head. Especially his "Beast Tamer" Unique Class which allows him to contract beasts, he did not even know what requirments there are to contract another beast because the only one he has for now is Fire.
"My friend has said his strenght increased 3 times that of a normal human after receiving the unique class skill "Inhumane Strenght". This allowed him to lift heavy things and wield even steel poles from the streets to fight." old man Zhang replied
"Where is your friend now? I would really like to meet him!"
Of course Wang tao would like to meet him. He really wanted to ask more about the Classes and the differences it brought, just like his Beast Tamer Class. From their small conversation, he has understood that despite killing monsters together only his friend has received a class, while old man Zhang did not. There must surely be unknown requierments for it! Any additional information would be very helpful in this kind of situation.
"He's dead." said the man with his head bowed down, as he tried to hide the sadness in his eyes before he continued.
"I'm sure you saw the situation in the town. But i don't think you know what it truly means to be sitting beside the gate after it dropped. I was the head chief of the construction site and coincidentally, a gate fell right in front of our workplace. Me and my co-workers after having worked for years, our strenghts were over the normal average and we easily killed our way through the small green midgets that attacked us. But it didn't stop no matter what. We killed ten, double the amount came out from the gates. We killed twenty, they kept coming out. We started getting pushed back and many of us died. Collagues that i worked a life with died one after another in front of me, until i gave the order to flee. Everyone scattered and it was only me and my friend. Just as we were about to leave, a sillouethe of about 4 meters long got out of the gate before it tried to get me – where my friend protected me with his body." small droplets of tears formed around the man's eyes as he explained, before he wiped them out away with the sleeves of his ragged shirt.
"i'm sorry, old man, for asking such a hard question." said Wang tao in an apologetic tone
"it doesn't matter anymore.. anyway, do you mind telling me what kind of skill book that is?" as if trying to change the topic, the man immediately turned his attention towards the book from his hands.
"It's Body Strenghtening Skill, it buffs all stats by 10% for a small period of time"
Hearing what he said, the man's eyes sparkled. 10 percent buff to all stats! He has seen the terrifying might of the destroyer class that boosted the strenght stat by 3 times, but this skill boosts all stats by ten percent!
Taking down the backpack from his back, the man pulled out another book frm inside under the stunned gazes of the woman and Wang Tao.
"This book is called "Fireball" and i'm sure you saw the might of the Fireball Skill. What do you say, would you like to exchange?" said the man before a fireball formed inside his arm as the air around them turned hotter by a few degrees.
"Willing, i am willing!" answered Wang Tao excited as he thought about the power the Fireball Skill contained.
Just imagine, throwing fireballs from the back while his contracted beasts fought against the enemies, will he be like the Wizards from the games? Slaying thousands of beasts under the might of a skill? Being a mage was any kids dream and most men kept that dream for a life, Wang Tao was no exception!
Immediately, Wang Tao handed the Body Strengthening Skill to the man before taking the book from him. As he looked at it, information poured inside his mind.
"Fireball Skill. Tier 1 Skill – Allows the user to form Fireballs and attack the user!"
'Woof! Woof!'
Just as he wanted to learn it, he was surprised by the barkings of Fire as he saw his loyal friend in a climbing position with his front legs on his waist. Patting his head, Wang Tao smiled and asked.
"What's wrong, Fire?"
But Fire ignored him as it's eyes were glued to the book from his hands.
"what, do you want this book? No can do." said Wang Tao while shaking his head
As if realizing that he won't get the book, Fire's head dropped down before a playful smile appeared on his face. Crouching it's back legs, Fire jumped with all his might before snatching the book from his hands before he ran away a few meters away.
Still stunned by Fire's actions, Wang Tao kept looking at his hands where the book was nowhere to be found. Anger surfaced on his mind, before he angrily scolded towards Fire.
"Fire, now's not the time to play! Give it back and be a good boy." a look of anger flashed on his eyes before a look of amazement and shock flashed in his eyes.
The book that was inside Fire's mouth turned into a flash of rainbow-like colors before it entered in his head.
"Congratulations, your contracted familiar – Fire has learned the skill "Fireball"."
With a look of disbelief, Wang Tao, old man Zhang and the woman looked at the unimaginable scene. Fire, who was in the center of attention had a questioning look as he looked at the three, tilting his head slightly in a questioning position full of question marks as if wanting to say 'why are you looking at me like that, humans? Never seen such a handsome doggie like me?'.
* kugh kugh *
After that, Fire started coughing uncontrollably for a few moments startling the three greatly. It then turned to look at them and with a swoosh, a Fireball flew out of it's mouth straight at the woman!
"Watch out!" cried the two hastily as droplets of sweat started to fall on Wang Tao's back.
This is no joke, if this Fireball hit the woman, either she will die or she will get disfigured. However, the anticipated scene did not happen. The woman looked at the Fireball before she did a body roll on the floor hastily to survive. However, the scent of burned hair immediately raised through the air as Wang Tao looked at her extensions being burnt.
The culprit, Fire, had a mischevious smile on his face as if he wanted to say 'you deserved it!' showing off his row of white teeth.
"You!!!" angrily said the woman as soon as she stood up, on the verge of tears as her beautiful long hair turned into ashes as it scattered apart.
Under the dumbfounded gazes of the Wang Tao, the old man Zhang and the other policemen, the woman started chasing after Fire while waving her daggers around screaming like a lunatic.
A crooked wry smile appeared on Wang Tao's face as he looked at Fire wagging his tail and sprinting around with a mischevious smile on his face, dodging the woman's attacks.
"Damn...he always liked playing chase with beautiful girls before.."
