After the woman got tired and calmed down, Wang Tao called Fire back to his side, making him sit beside his legs.
The lady shot an icy glare at him, before returning to her aloof and prideful gaze as she started asking the other policemen regarding their future plans.
"What's your plan now, young man?" asked Old Man Zhang
Pondering for a moment, a resolute look appeared on Wang Tao's face.
"First, leave this damned city and go toYon City, there's a small military base there. We should check first if it's still safe after all these gates appeared, will you join me?" asked Wang Tao, looking straight into his eyes
Having someone like old man Zhang with him, the chances of surviving would be higher. As long as they work together and don't come across any creatures that are too strong, they'll be able to at least fight back.
The question immediately attracted the attention of the Policemen and the woman, as they started whispering to each other. Old man Zhang's face immediately lighted up before bursting in a hearty laughter.
"Sure, staying together is much better, at least we can have each other's back in need."
His answer made Wang Tao breathe a small sigh of relief. Humans were really strange creatures, in normal times, everyone is on their own, fighting for a better future, a career and a higher status, even if that means pushing everyone else away for power. But in times of crisis, almost everyone is working together, even an old man acknowledging a youngster to have his back!
"Let's go then, no point in wasting time here. We should go before the monsters reach the bridge, then we're gonna have to run with our tails behind our backs." said Wang Tao to the old man, receiving a nod in agreement.
As they walked forward, the Policemen and the woman stayed behind, looking at their backs before an argument broke out between them. In anger, the woman threw her police hat on the floor and started chasing after them.
"Wait, wait, wait for me!!!" said the woman, panting heavily after sprinting towards them
"Damn that Ying Yue, she doesn't know what's good for her! Why would she be so adamant into following that old man and the kid. All they have is some small powers, does she really think they can protect her?! We are trained soldiers, from what i see, they have gotten their powers after killing monsters. If she stayed with us, we could've achieved ten times more, damnit!" roared one of the men in anger
"That's right, brother Zuo. She doesn't know what's good for her! Hmph, she only has that beautiful face, other than that, she's unworthy to even be our officer!" said another man
The other man immediately nodded in agreement, displeasure written all over their faces.
"We should go now, staying here beside all these dead bodies gives me a bad feeling." said brother Zuo to the others
However, not even walking a few steps before bloodcurling screams resounded in the air, as a massive frog of about 2 meters jumped from the lake. Startled, brother Zuo turned around just to find that out of the other people, he was left alone as the frog was munching on the others. Only their legs and the big teeths that kept munching the men could be seen.
A warm liquid started flowing from between his legs, as his face turned white as a sheet of paper. Before he could even make a sound, another frog the same as the other leaped out of the lake and with a swoosh of it's tongue, the man got pulled just like a mosquito into it's mouth, as the crunching sounds of bone could be heard.
After the frogs pulled a few more corpses into their mouth, with a swoop, they were gone into the murky lake.
Wang Tao and old man Zhang had a pleasant conversation before hearing the rushed steps from behind. Startled, they turned around just to find out that the beautiful police officer was running after them panting heavily with a red face like a tomato.
"What do you want?" asked Wang Tao with a tinge of annoyance. He still hasn't forgotten the treatment he has received earlier from her.
With two deep breaths, the woman looked at them with a tinge of embarassment before saying.
"Can i go with you?"
Caught off-guard by her question, Wang Tao and old man Zhang looked at her puzzedly. Why would she want to go with them? They are just two people and a dog and seeing her alone, it means she split up with the others before coming to them.
"Where are the others?" said Wang Tao as he looked at her. He wouldn't mind her following them, as having a beauty by his side wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Plus, the way she fought earlier against the Brutal Frogs has impressed him, just like the Amazonian Girls from the past. Yes, she was really like the amazons...aloof, prideful and a beauty, at least from what he saw on documentaries and movies in the past
"Hmph, the others can do whatever they want. They never believed in my abilities anyway, always finding faults at my orders. It's much better like this, less responsability and following you two might be a better thing for me. At least one of you is a kid and the other an old man and you won't be staring at my butt and chest the whole time like those dregs." said the woman proudly as she pointed at her chest, before lowering her finger in embarassment as she saw old man Zhang and Wang Tao almost drooling at the sight.
"A D-cup..." said Wang Tao in a whisper, making old man Zhang nod his head.

Embarassed, the woman harrumphed before shooting an icy glare at them. Of course she heard that small whisper from Wang Tao, but that old man actually nodded and even the damn dog is woofing in accord, making her face redder and redder.
After a moment, Wang Tao returned to his senses before nodding his head in agreement.
"You can join us. Let's work together to survive this mess!" answered Wang Tao as delight lit up on her face.
The woman slowly extended her hand toward Wang Tao, giving him a handshake, then turning to old man Zhang and lastly, looking at the stretched paw from Fire and his eyes full of delight looking at her like he's on aphrosidiac, she reluctanctly shaked the paw before taking her hand back.
"I'm Ying Yue, 26 Years Old, a Police Officer!" introduced herself to them
Wang Tao, old man Zhang introduced themselves, as well as Fire, who kept barking on the sides, before explaining some basic informations about the way she can get items and stronger. The status panel confused her in the beginning, but after their explanation she immediately understood.
"So it's like a game..?" asked Ying Yue in disbelief
"It should be like that..." said Wang Tao while shaking his head, not knowing how to answer.
They continued their discussion like that, until they heard the bloodcurling screams from behind.

The woman's face paled before starting running back the way she came. Of course she recognized the voices, it was of the teammates she worked for years together with! Seeing her run off like that, Wang Tao and old man Zhang knew something must've happened to the others as they too started chasing after her with Fire in the lead.
As soon as they reached the bridge, the screams stopped. All that was left for them to see was the sillouethe of the frog as it jumped back into the waters ,leaving them stunned on the spot. Looking around, most of the corpses were gone and only big pools of blood were left on the bridge, clearly eaten by the frogs.
Tears started falling from Ying Yue's face, as she thought of the policemen that she worked together with, dying in such a gruesome way. Yes, she wasn't happy about their attitudes and the way they talked to her, but they were her co-workers and partners for years, how can she not cry when people she worked with were killed like that becoming food for monsters!
Patting her on the back, Wang Tao tried to cheer her up. He was also stupefied and scared of the scene he just saw, but there was also anger inside his heart! Anger, yes anger, towards all this! In just 1 day everything changed, people that he would normally just look up at, walk around with, see on the streets laughing, dying like that! How can he not feel anger towards all this?
"We should go before they return!" said Wang Tao after a few deep breaths, calming himself down. Now's not the time to feel angry, only by being calm can they survive this ordeal!
"Mhm..." a soft murmur could be heard from the woman as she followed after him, leaving a desolate bridge behind. The echos of guns and roaring monsters could still be heard from the city behind, as they moved forward.
