Chapter 13: World Tree's Gift
(Shuka): "So... My names Shuka?"
(Fiore): "That's right! It's Shuka! The forest protecting flower Shuka!"
It had a pretty good ring to it. Although I wasn't intentionally protecting this forest so I don't know how well this name will fit me but just thinking about that makes me depressed so I'd rather not mention it.
(Shuka): "What a splendid name... I shall gladly accept that name"
(Fiore): "Eh? You can't eat that you know!"
(TLN: The author used a pun in these to lines that wouldn't make sense if it wasn't in English. What shuka said was いただきましょう、その名前 which can be read as "To receive something" and "To thank someone for the food" Which caused Fiore to rebuttal like that.)
(shuka): "Of Course I wouldn't eat it"
I have taken a liking to the name "Shuka". It shall be my name from now on.
As a side note, the display did not change to "Shuka" and still labeled me as a man-eating plant.
(Fiore): "then Shuka, I have a delivery for you that comes from the World Tree."
(Shuka): "Mr. world tree?"
I've heard about it before... A large tree that supports the world... But why is it giving something to me?
(Shuka): "Did you say it had something to give me?"
(Fiore): "Yup! Its this thing!"
Fiore took out something from her tiny pocket, In her hands, she was holding a tiny sphere-like object with a hint of green light shining from it.
(Fiore): "Apparently this is called a "Mana Fruit". It contains a hefty amount of mana inside it."
(Shuka): "Green... Mana was it?"
(Fiore): "I'm pretty sure you're able to just eat it for the benefits"
(Shuka): "Is that so... Then without further or do..."
(Fiore): "Ahh! I AM NOT FOOD"
(Shuka): "I won't eat you"
Just like I was told, I brung the orb to my mouth with my vine. The orb melted instantly inside of me.
Suddenly a strong vine from my body started stretching It seems like these vines will cover the entire forest.
Soon after covering the entire forest. The vines seem to have disappeared into the ground.
(Fiore): "Shuka You alright!?"
(Shuka): "Yeah... I seem to be fine."
Fiore was watching me while having a worried expression.
After a while, a notification popped up, with the message "Update complete." While checking what was added, A brand new beautiful frame appeared in my view.
Inside that frame was...
...A Map that displayed the whole Forest!
On top of the map, there were dot-like things. the 3 white dots were the duplicate villagers I created that were working on repairing the ground.
When I checked the dots, their names displayed properly.
Those dots therefore must be showing the exact position of those 3. Besides those white dots, there seems to be a red dot moving about near them. This must be a winged rabbit, as the movements look just like one.
Preys seem to be listed as red dots... This is useful.
There are also plenty of other useful features that the map has. For Example, while using my map, I am also able to pull out a trap display next to it.
As a test, I placed a human scissors trap next to the red dot on the map. This caused a trap mark to appear on the map.
I waited for the red dot to move toward the trap mark. After a while, the red dot was on top of the trap mark.
I then activated the trap.
The word HIT then displayed on top of the map, This must mean I successfully captured the winged rabbit.
It seems like you can set up and activate traps outside of your sight. It is very useful.
(Shuka): "This is a very useful tool"
(Fiore): "Really? What kind of tool is it?"
(Shuka): "this tool lets you see prey far away."
(Fiore): "is that so?"
(Shuka): "I'll have to thank the world tree for this. Is it possible to meet him any time soon?"
(Fiore): "Hmm let me think... The World tree is about 5 kilometers southwest from here."
(Shuka): "5... Kilometeres huh..."
I can't make it... My capture area is only 2400 meters... I'm missing 2600 meters to get to the world tree.
Every time I level up, I gain 100 meters, which means I need to gain a whopping 24 levels just to be able to reach the world tree.
I'll have to eat more humans in order to level up...
(Fiore): "Oh yeah while I was inside your belly, I saw some interesting things. Besides the digestive juices, there was a bag containing a sweet scent and a bag containing your flower honey."
(Shuka): "you were looking inside of me?"
(Fiore): "that's!... not... What I was trying to say is! I demand your honey! Of course, I'm not asking you to give it to me for free. How about I give you a helping hand!"
(Shuka): "A helping hand huh..."
(Fiore): "That right! your petals have been stained to a beautiful vermilion color by the human blood after all"
(Shuka): "My petals were vermilion... I have never thought or cared about that..."
(Fiore): "you're a flower, after all, you need to treat yourself with care. anyways I'll come back another time"
(Shuka): "send my regards to the world tree as well"
(Fiore): "Sure! Well then bye-bye!"
After saying so Fiore flew away.
So my body was stained with blood... I didn't really think much of it at first, after all it was a natural result of my predation. However, now that I notice it, it really doesn't match me huh...
For now Dark red seems like it would be a good choice.
The second prince of the Diva Empire, Cain Kimbal... The man that framed me... Until I can get my revenge on him...
