The People of Count Klein 34

“Water Blaster.”

Crane quickly sent a stream of water towards the fireballs that were dropping on him. Against fire, it was obviously water. Thanks to it, a gap appeared amidst the many fireballs as the stream of water continued to rush towards Ruin.

“Water Shield.”

Ruin, who was first to attack, got into a defensive stance at the cost of an attack. And, his Water Shield defended against Crane’s Water Blaster by absorbing it in.

Admiration could be heard from within the audience, as people watched the two contestants battle. Unusually, the group of people that came from outside had a distinct presence. Grey, who turned back to the noise on occasion, saw how serious Id was watching the match and was planning on scaring him. However, he decided against it. Seeing as how serious Id was, if he was to bother him at the wrong time, a sword might fly into his face faster than he would be able to see. Id’s eyes sparkled with light as he stared at Ruin.

‘It seems like that Ruin guy is going to win. To think that he would be able to defend against water with water, and not just blocking it, but by absorbing it.’

After a few round of attacks, Ruin won the battle just as Id had predicted. He had used Wind Block against his adversary, pushing the man off the stage and making him lose by default.

And, the 2nd round that started right after, was different from the 1st round because it was a battle between 2 swordsman.

Seeing the clothes that were being worn by these 2 people, it seemed like 2 outsiders had come to the competition to win the reward. They looked as if they were just a little over 20 years old. It may be because they were around the same age as Grey, but he seemed to feel very competitive towards them.

“Chet, they both look pretty slick outside, but they’re skills are probably subpar. Why did they even come here?”

For the first time in a while, Id nodded his head and agreed with Grey’s words.

“That’s right.”

And, just as Grey and Id had predicted, the battle ended in a very bitter manner after a few sword strikes. Thinking this was the perfect chance, Grey acted like a little sheep and spoke to Id very nicely.

“Id, no matter how bad they are, I think I would be much better than them even if I started practicing the sword today.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Even Id felt pitiful. One of the contestants ran backwards as he tried to avoid the sword, and ended up falling out of the arena.

The competition continued to ripen as the atmosphere became heated. In no time, the sounds of the 7th round starting could be heard, and this time it was a battle between a swordsman and a mage.

The mage was also from Calvin, and was wearing the same robe as the person from the 1st round. The swordsman was a woman who seemed to be in her mid-20s.

Seeing this, Id once again grumbled.

“Mm, this match is obvious too.”

Having been able to notice the outcome since the first round, Id and Grey soon began to comment on the fights. This time as well, Id began to make guesswork on the contestants. However, Grey was unable to understand the words that Id was saying.

“Obvious? What do you mean it’s obvious?”

Hael also began to take interest in what Id and Grey were talking about, so she brought her head closer to hear what they were saying.

“It’s a difference in experience. Experience! That noob mage over there seems to be anxious about this fight, so his body is completely stiff. While, on the other hand, the swordsman seems to be completely relaxed. This means that she has a lot of experience. Amongst those she’s fought, I’m sure a mage is included, meaning that she would know what the attack patterns are for mages.”

Finally understanding why Id had said that it was obvious, Hael and Grey nodded their heads. However, they weren’t the only ones listening to what Id was saying. An unfamiliar voice could be heard from the solemn group that was beside them.

“Lady, it seems like you understand quite well.”

Grey, Hael, and Id all turned their heads at the same time. As they did, a young knight with clean clothes was staring at them with a wide smile. It was obvious that they were unable to look at the knight in a favorable light.

As they glared at the man, Grey and the group all had different thoughts running in their minds. Hael felt that the man was trying to create a fight for the audience, and didn’t know what he was talking about. While Grey was angry that the man was trying to start a fight with Id, and was ready to get into a brawl. To say that Id was a lady again. Even more so, since the man was a swordsman, Id would be able to beat him before he even knew what happened. On the other hand, instead of throwing out a fist, Id politely corrected his gender.

“Not at all. And, I’m not a lady.”

“Huh? Ah, I see. Is, is that so. I apologize for that.”

The man could not stare at the group anymore as his face turned bright red with embarrassment.

“You fool. Do you pull your tail in between your legs and cower just because of that? You should keep moving forward with it. How can a man just lower their head and turn back around, because of one mistake? Try talking to them again.”

The older knight, that was part of the same group as the younger knight, poked the younger knight’s side with his elbow. Then, the other gentleman that was in front of them turned around and scolded them.

“This guy, did you come here to fool around?”
