Chapter One Part One: You are Very Shy

‘Freedom at last!’

Aristine could barely managed it, she had almost busted out in celebration.

She was sick of it, that tragic home and that heartless father.

‘He was truly a madman’

Her father, the emperor, had committed various types of abuse.

And now his ideas was this, turning her into one of his ‘success story’.

‘Really, I thought I was gonna die. I was burned alive!’

The first thing she had felt was hot air and fire.

A sensation that gnawed your lungs, the type of feeling that makes you want to scrape your own throats.

That is how Aristine woke up.

When I opened my eyes, the window was blocked and I was surrounded by fire.

At that time Aristine was only six years old.

Normally, she would be dead.

But Aristine survived, and then she was brought before him.

He had looked at her as if she was burnt piece of meat and asked:

〈How was it? Have you awakened?〉

Aristine, who was staring at her father in spirit of confusion, suddenly realized.

‘Ah, the man who blocked the window and set the fire was my father.’

At that moment, even though her lunged had been clogged with smoke what hurt more was her aching heart.

It had hurt so much that I wish it would burn.

‘If my heart become ashes, I will not get hurt anymore’ she had thought.

A decade later, Aristine’s heart was completely destroyed and become ashes.

Even when she meets her half-sister, Aristine was already deprived. Since she was abandoned as a child, and was alone for almost ten year, her heart has slowly burned away.

‘But the seclusion had made it possible to see that past, so perhaps it was for the best.’

The spirit of Aristine has demonstrated the potential to protect itself.

She was able to ‘see’ her past life and was able to keep her mind sane.

“… It’ll be good to leave this place, but I will be bothered later on.”

She took a sigh of relief, recalling the winter solstice, which had passed in the Imperial Palace.

Anyway, now is the time to think about where to go rather than the place that you had left.

‘What is it like in Airugo?’

The Land of Barbarians.

Where fire and iron dominates.

An isolated plains surrounded by beast.

〈Airugo’s savages aren’t men, they aren’t human beings, you can’t consider them as ‘being’ either.〉

〈Soon you will be sleeping on a bed with a demon.〉

〈Well, you might like it more than you thought.〉

The word of that father, was still echoing within her head.

Some might say that he was cursing Aristine, but the Emperor had always hated the kingdom of Airugo to begin with.

Silvanus was a kingdom with great conquering power, but there was only one place that they could not invade, Airugo.

Aristine’s father, the current Emperor, had made grand plan for Airugo to kneel before him in this generation. However, the aspect of the war had taken a strange return. It was Silvanus’s Kingdom lands that was slowly occupied by the Arirugian instead.

The Kingdom of Airugo had made a great effort to win this war —

‘My Prospective Husband, Tarkhan’

Aristine recalled her political rival.

Seeing that further warfare will comes with great cost, the Emperor proposed to cease fire between the two nations.

King of Airugo had asked for one more thing beside the high war compensation.

“A direct bloodline of the Emperor to marry Tarkhan”

In order to break off hundreds years of hostility, through a political marriage, an alliance will be formed with each other.

The King of Airugo wanted ended the real war.

With Airugo constantly surrounded with beasts, it will be burdensome to continue the war.

And that’s how peace treaty came between the two countries.

That should have been the end of it…

Happily ever after was it? Isn’t that how they always end their stories with?

‘But my father has no intention to end the war.”

The emperor’s proposal for an armistice was just for time-consuming purposes.

For now, he planned to cut the current flow of Airugo, preparing for the war from behind, sooner or later he will invade again.

‘That’s why he sent me away as a sacrifice’

A justification to declare another war, a worthy reason to break the marital alliances.

Among them, one can easily manipulate and create a deliberation of faction, this type of thing really suited the Emperor’s style.

‘Killing me and putting the responsibility on Airugo.’

Aristine can’t help but laugh in the moving carriage.

Doesn’t the Emperor know that in order for his sacrificial card that he sent will give a huge piece of Sh*t?

Really, how stupid~ In order for it to succeed, one person cooperation is needed first.

“Tarkhan”

Silently, Aristine recites the name of the person who would be her husband.

. * . * . * . * . * . * . * .

‘What kind of work is this again?’

Aristine looked at the simple tea table in front of her with a quiet gaze.

She expected that something would’ve happened when she went by the old-fashioned road instead of using any portals.

“I don’t think that these limbs are even mine any more.”

The idea seem to be about right, it was what Aristine had thought when she had been stuck with in this horse-carriage for the past ten day.

Thanks to their effort, she could not wash or change her clothes. And when she tried to take off this uncomfortable dress, a knight came knocking at the window.

Coming out of the carriage, she is suddenly greeted with refreshment.

‘It’s funny to tell myself to not be suspicious of this.’

“Sit down.”

Rather than respect, the tone of this maid and attitude was more of a command.

But Aristine sat down quietly.

Not yet.

She was still behaving as meekly as if she was still in the imperial palace.

‘It’s not the time yet.’

Aristine’s eyes scanned the armed guards.

Guard, spy or otherwise.

I’m already aware of who the murder is.

For now the empire still need time to reorganize. It is not yet time for Aristine to die.

In other words, as of now they can do anything but kill me.

Ironically for Aristine, the Sylvanus’s princess, can only be protected when she arrives in the hostile state of Airugo.

‘Well, we will see if she’s really protected.’

The tea cup was full of tea. Aristine’s face which was aloof, upon the shaky surface of the liquid, reflected. Even though she has yet to touch the teacup, but the water was getting thicken and condense. Slowly, Aristine’s face too would  disappeared and it went beyond recognition.

‘Ah…’

Something else was being seen.

. * . * . * . * . * . * . * .

What reflected on the surface of the water was the maid who had just ordered Aristine to sit down.

‘The dress is the same as it is now’

Unlike Aristine, the maid was able to washed and changes her clothes everyday. Even the dress that she wearing now, was even more refined and gorgeous.

Upon the reflection the maid was on her way with a pot of boiling water. And it exact purpose was for Aristine.

The image has shown that the maid will intentionally spilled boiling hot water on to Aristine.

Aristine’s shoulder was burned badly and completely swelled red.

[Oh my god! I’m so sorry my lady!]

Contrary to her words, her face was filled with hidden ridicule and indisputable laughter.

The hand that wiped Aristine’s face was rough and harsh, it only seems to make the wound even worse than before.

[She looks like a mouse in the water.]

[A fitting image for the bride of the barbarians.]

Distance away, the other maids giggled, gossiping about what had just happened.

The water shook and soon fell silent. Those images was gone, and only Aristine’s reflection was left behind. Everything returned to normal like the beginning, as if nothing had happened.

This was Aristine’s ability.

The divine power that her father, the Emperor has greatly desired.

The power that Aristine never thought she’d ever .

As a result, it had become the reason to why she was a ‘failure’ rather than a ‘success’.

Everything could be seen through a mirror of sleep.

The King’s Presence (The Emperor Eyes).

This ability was not just seeing the future.

Through sleep, Aristine can see both past, present and future.

But it was not what Aristide wanted to see, nor what she did not want to see. In other words, she could not controlled it.

‘What should I do?’

Tok, Tok, Tok.

Aristine’s index finger tapped slowly on the table.

She saw that maid approaching from the corner of her eyes.

With boiling hot water.

For a short time, Aristine’s eyes were on etched because of the premonition.

The moment the maid arrived to her very spot, Aristine immediately sprang up.

“Aah!”

The maid, covered in boiling water, screamed.

When she saw the spirit suddenly rises, inwardly she had taken a step backward. Because of gravity the water fall upon her. The maid face began to swelled up instantly.

“Oh, my God.”

Aristine touched her mouth and sneered.

“My, My face! My face!…”

The others maid, surprised, came in a hurry to bring cold water.

It was quite different compared to what was shown in the previous foresight.

After a few moments of repairs, one of them jump up and strode toward Aristine.

“What are you going to do about this !?”

“Why are you asking me?”

With Aristine’s antagonism, the maid named Rosalyn could not believe her ears.

How dare this maggot talk back to me?

“I just got up from my seat.”

“That’s—”

“Right, It is my fault that I overturned the water alone. I should be doing your housekeeping as well. ” Aristine said and tilting her head. “Well, instead of a housekeeper I think you need a nanny to take care of you instead.”

This is just the perfect level.

Perhaps she should have omitted a few words, but the tongue that raised could not contain its speech.

“What are you…!”

“Like I said, if you do not need a nanny, be careful.”

Aristine’s voice were slow and clear, her tone was reminding someone of their position.

Rosalyn had no response. This situation was so absurd and idiotic.

But the most annoying thing is that she could not come up with anything to refute.

‘It was none other than this b*tch…!’

Being washover with humiliation, Rosalyn can do nothing but remain quiet.

Seeing that pleasing expressing, Aristine return to the table and sat back down for tea. With her back straightened, and wrist at an angle, she appeared like a graceful swan.

“Ha……”

The maid could do nothing but watched in vain.

Aristine wanted to ask them if they know what they were looking at.

But she was not ‘the one’.

For those who did not have the ‘King’s Presence’, the children of the private house, were treated less than the others. They’re all fools who have no opportunity or a chance to be educated.

A lunatic who had been living alone for most of her life, could not actually be sane.

‘But…’

‘That b*tch is truly crazy!’

So?

How ridiculous!

They were all wrong.

Yes, it was something I have obtained.

And this was only the beginning.

Moe’s Comments:

The tea is boiling hot in this chapter [No Pun Intended]. It is really refreshing to see story with characters that actually swear.

The chapters on KKpage is split really weirdly. Chapter one is actually very long . The first 2 free chapters + 15 pages in C3 on KK is all part of chapter one. It is About 5k+ words per chapter, that is 95 pages on KK. This actually mess up my schedule up a lot it is around.

However after much thinking. I’d decided to split the chapter as it is. Meaning because chapter one will have 3 parts because that how it is split on Kkpage. The third part is the shortest part.

But there will be more frequent update. One chapter on Monday and one Friday, no specific time period. Is that okay?

Ah what to do I want to cried because the chapter is so long? But this will give me less stress because I know I have more content to update.

Anyway back to work now, thank you for reading this!

Have a good day or night, whenever this come out~
