GUARD TOWER

ADEIN YSMIR

The fact that his head has had some sort of imperceptible head ache since the fight did not worry Adein too much, he was probably having a sure effect for all the excitement.

But of course he had to give a repot right now, and he felt nervous, that might be the reason why he was feeling so uncomfortable. Adein shook his head, as he picked up the phone from the side of his bed, he had to give a report to the council.

"Has it been done?" A voice asked him as soon as the call went through.

Adein could not help but shiver at the sound of that voice, it left him with goosebumps every time he had to speak or have any sort of contact with the person at the end of the line.

But he had no choice, as the enforcer of the rules, and will of the council of light, Adein had to deal with the person at the end of the line rather than the members of the council themselves.

"Yes it has. Kael For won the fight." Adein replied.

{So you lost!}

"I did not loose to anyone!" Adein replied with an edge to his voice.

"What are you talking about?" the voice asked with an equally dangerous edge to his voice.

Adein was startled, he could have sworn he heard someone else speaking, it was more like a whisper, but it was loud enough for him to think that someone had spoken to him. He looked around, but saw that he was still alone, so he turned to the phone in his hand with a puzzled look on his face as he replied.

"my apologies, I thought I heard something. The guards outside must be talking louder than usual." Adein explained.

"Then such blatant displays of insubordination deserves punishment. How can you handle a task as monumental as this when you fan barely even keep control of your own soldiers. Do you want to be replaced, because there's a line of very capable waiting here for an opportunity to serve the council of light to the best of their ability, and you position is not set in stone." The voice threatened.

"I'll take care of it Enforcer, my apologies."

{You're weak!}

Adein almost answered, but he had to hold back for fear of upsetting the enforcer again. At this point in time he was sure that someone was playing tricks on him, and when he was done with this call, he would show them the true meaning of pain.

"In about a week the portable unsealing array will make it's way into the pit. There would be varying qualities of it, which should make the scramble for it as intense as possible. The first would be able to get rid of 15% of the seal, the second 35% and the third, and the one with the highest quality should release about 65% worth of their seals. As soon as it spreads, especially between the elders, the council needs you to keep a close eye on the movement of the rouge weaver in the pit, and if you can find out his identity, you would gain merits to your name."

"I understand". Adein replied.

{DO YOU! DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND!}

Adein let out a startled gasp as he dropped the phone out of shock and fright. He looked around himself, but he could see anyone or anything.

There was not even a see angle disturbance in the air to show that someone was in stealth, and his room was much to bright for there to be a shadower around.

Something was wrong, but he was not sure what. He could still hear the enforcer calling out to him from the phone, he looked around one more time before he slowly picked up his phone.

"Enforcer I think we have a problem." Adein said with a shaky voice

"And what problem is that?" The voice at the other end of the call asked.

"I think I've been cursed, it I don't know what kind or who did it."

"And how is that any problem of mine, find the culprit and fix it. Fast, unless you want to get replaced. Do you understand!"

"Yes Enforcer." Adein answered through gritted teeth

"Good, now with everything that's happened, you have a few tasks to take care of. First you have to observe Asha, with the identity of the weaver unknown, she's the closest link to him, considering she was unsealed before her husband. So far we know that the For family has not had a weaver in their employ for the past 26 years, so it can't be someone affiliated with the family. Next you have to advance you plans with the Nagas. Their civil war should be reaching it's peak by now, and their prince should be well under your thumb. Those Nagas would be your contingency against the vampires when their wars begin. Make sure the vampires destroy themselves, the Nagas are warmongers, so they don't really have much of a problem with killing for you. Also stay away from the aviary and the den, should the Nephilim and the Dragons get wind of our plans, then things could take a turn for the worst. So make sure those part of prison remains sealed."

"Pardon me for asking but what about Kael Cor?" Adein asked with un disguised animosity.

"If you have no regard for your life, then lay a finger on him and see what happens. The For family has been in existence from the very beginning of...well of anything. While he might loose the chance to gain his inheritance if he's unable to leave that prison in three years, the same could not be said for hi unborn child when it finally comes of age. He might be serving a punishment, but the For family is an integral pillar to the political, economical and social structure of Shearath. Even imprisoned he has many supporters both noble and commoners alike from different races. He's untouchable, not unless you want to start a civil war among the wrong group of people. Of course there's quite a significant amount of people who would prefer if he was dead, as that way the can manipulate what's left of his family, which should include his wife, unborn child and adopted sister, into handing his assets over to them. But the decision regarding Kael Cor is at a stalemate, don't touch him. Besides he already has a target painted on his back by winning the death match, you might not have to do anything to harm him. A far as he's concerned keep your hands clean, and keep your distance. Dismissed."

And then the line cut off, leaving Adein standing alone with the phone in his hand. While this was not what he wanted to hear, he could handle this outcome. As long as he gets hurt then Adein would ignore Kael, well officially that is. Who's to say he wouldn't be able to nudge someone else to pay the vampire noble a visit.

He had a score to settle with Kael, and as much as he couldn't directly go up against him, he was still going to try to make his life a little miserable. That was he only outcome he could settle on, for now.

{Is that so?}

Adein scrambled off his bed and tumbled to the ground, in a tangle of sheets and clothes. He looked around, his anger burning at the very thought of someone messing with him, but underneath that rage, a very potent staring of fear lingered, as he hoped beyond all reasonable doubt, that he has not been cursed by something or someone capable of making life difficult for him.

{Look at you, you're weak, foolish and incapable of carrying out orders. What a pity.}

Adein searched under his bed, checked his desk, tables, closet or any other place that someone might be hiding, but yet there was nothing, no one, nit even a hint of a shadow, just the feeling of being watched, and he feeling of someone breathing down his neck.

{YOU'RE A FAILURE!}

"NO!"

Adein pulled out his whip, seconds later it's entire frame began to sizzle with electricity as his anger saturated it's entire form. He swung his whip left and right, turning his bed into a pile of rubble, and his dressing table into firewood. But there was no one around, just silence, just him.

{Look at you, you were bested by a CHILD! And yet you can't do a single thing to him. Hmhmhmhm ahhhh, he's right you know, you're going to break. And you're going to hate every second of it. FAILUUUUUURRREEEEEE!}

And then it was gone, Adein shot up covered in sweat. He was on his bed, and it was still in one piece. The phone was dangling from it's cord, so at least the call with the enforcer happened after all, though he did not remember when he fell asleep, it didn't matter to him, at least everything he had just experienced had been nothing more than a dream.

He swung his legs of the side of his bed, hoping to get himself a drink of water when he slammed his toes on his bed post. Adein held a hand to his mouth to hold in the muffled scream, then he slowly put his aching foot to the ground and took a look at it.

He was shocked by what he was seeing, this shouldn't be possible. At this point in his life, Adein was strong enough to punch a twenty meter tall structure made of concrete to rubble, and resilient enough to be thrown through such a structure multiple times before he becomes incapable of fighting again.

But right now, his tiny toe was hanging at a rather grotesque angle, or it could be said it was looking...…smashed. His tiny toe was completely broken, and while it could be healed, the thought of a simple bed post causing him such an injury left him worried.

Maybe he really needed to have himself checked out for a curse. Adein got up and left his room, hoping to find out what was wrong with him, but as he left, the eerie sound of someone breathing deeply was left in his mind.
