Soren was close by, but he was in his armored lion form, rather than his bike form. I quickly got on his back as we ran towards the giant wolf. I placed my shield and sword on my back, and pulled out the guns I almost hardly ever use. I really did not want to fight that thing at a close range.
Soren began moving around the monster, he was not attacking as that was left up to me with my guns. I was trying to figure out a way to bring this down without leaving myself weak or almost half dead. I was stronger, but the nature's backlash for using a weave against something so unnatural, is sure to pack a punch. However, something peculiar was happening that I didn't for see, neither could I understand. Every bullet I fired at the monster, seemed to be leaving terrible burn marks all over it's body. Though those injuries are quickly healed up, it gave me an insight into this monster that might help me defeat it. Apparently it had s weakness against soul energy, now that's terribly convenient for me, but I think either understand why it's so. Soul energy is one of the rarer forms of energy, and it seems to be something this monster lacks.
Now all I wish I had, was a bigger gun. My hand shook, and I looked on in surprise as both hand gun melted in mid air, and joined together, reforming into a larger looking revolver like gun. I had only asked for a bugger gun to increase my damage output, while the hand guns were consistent with their damage, they were like throwing tiny stones rather than the massive rocks I needed. I pushed my soul energy into the gun, watching as the bullet chamber lit up in succession almost as if the amount of power and damage it could dish out was going up a level. Or six. Then I pulled the trigger.
SHHHHHHHH SHOOOOOOO!
Not exactly the sound you would expect from a gun, but the fact that my hand just got dislocated from the recoil, let me know it packed a punch, or more like a complete beat down. The released energy bullet was not the normal dark blue I was accustomed to, what came out of that gun was fiery whit beam of energy, so bright, that it made the entire Black district seem like a city under sunlight. Due to the recoil, my aim was slightly off, and instead of hitting the body, the beam tore through all three of its tails, eliciting a monstrous screech from the monster.
My dislocated arm popped back into place, and I tried sending soul energy back into the gun for another shot. However the gun was totally unresponsive, and my soul energy leaked out of it's sides, like it was filled with holes. I looked at the gun, and saw that part of it's metal frame seemed to have been melted off, however the gun was made from self replicating nanites, whose basic composition was of a polymorphic material. It was an experimental technology, and it has not been perfected yet. However the nanites were repairing themselves, but by the looks of it, it would take a while.
A green beam of energy flew past my head, and if not for Soren moving out of the way, I would probably be dead by now. I had shot of it's tails, and due to the composition of the ammunition used, it was not regenerating as fast as it wanted to. It had identified me as a threat, and shifted all of it's attention to killing me. It shot one of it's tentacles towards me, but Soren shifted in such a way that shouldn't be possible for a lion, much less one that's made of metal.
Arcs of lightening began sizzle of his body, as he ran circles around the monsters, evading it's attacks as the lightening got stronger. I held on to his mane, praying to God that my dungeon core/animal transformer, doesn't fry me to a crisp, as tiny currents of electricity ran through me. Soren's repertoire of skills, all seem to come from the monsters in the dungeon, and if I should hazard a guess, Soren was trying to build up electrical energy by running around, relying on friction and kinetic energy. Soren then came to a sudden stop, electricity was arching of his metal frame like crazy, and his mane, made of hundreds of individual strands of metallic threads, stood upright sharpened to a point. By then I had already gotten off of him.
I watched the electricity gather up from his legs, up to his body, and then gather around his throat. Then he opened his mouth and released a roar, but it was a roar accompanied by the sound of thunder booming a huge ball of golden lightening flew out of his mouth, and straight into the chest of the wolf, where it was lodged for a few seconds, delivering pure agony to the monster as electricity moved through it's entire body.
Many of the vampires, used this opportunity to add to the damage, assaulting the monster with attacks as it's body shook erratically from the shock it was receiving. Then the ball of lightening on it's chest shrunk until it was about the size of an egg, almost invisible on it's huge frame. However it quickly expanded again, and exploded, throwing the monster off it's feet, and straight back towards the canyon wall, were a loud snap was heard. There was a shockwave released from the explosion that threw a lot of vampires off their feet, and backwards. But still even with that amount of damage, the monster proved to be quite resilient as it started picking itself up from under a rubble of rocks, even with a huge hole in it's chest.
But it doesn't seem like it's misfortunes were over. Because I heard the sound of thunder, rumbling as actual storm clouds appears over our heads. I looked up and saw Queen, lightening dancing all over her body, as she pointed her sniper rifle at the monster. I've seen her carrying that gun around, but I've never seen her use it. The look on her face said it all, she was beyond pissed.
"DIE!"
The gun was silent when it was fired, like completely without sound. It was the lightening blast that fell from the sky, accompanying the bullet that truly made the world shake. For the second time today, the black district was lit up as if it was daytime, and the unfortunate monster who decided to stand against us today, was fried to a crisp, it's ear piercing shrieks, spreading through all of the black district. It was like a warning to all of the other monsters, especially for those who guards the other passes of the canyon. Vampires were not to be trickled with.
"WHY WON'T YOU DIE!"
I couldn't believe it. The nursemaid actually survived that last attack. The humongous wolf body was burnt to a crisp though, and all that was left was it's original body. It was partly burnt, and leaking a copious amount of fluid I really didn't want to know anything about. I looked at Queen, but she was spent, it made me have a new found respect for the resilience of this monster. It took on the full powered attack of an elder, and still survived with only a breath left...…remarkable.
The monster began crawling towards the green murky pool right in the middle of this former looking oasis. Everything green here has already been trampled and burnt to nothing. I looked at my gun, and saw that it was almost fully repaired. I tried sending my soul energy into it, but only three chambers lit up. I didn't mind because, that was all I needed to kill it. I pointed the gun and the monster and said to it.
"Well fought weirdo, now do as the lady says, and Die!"
"BANG!"
Even with only just three chambers lit up rather than six, the gun still proceeded to dislocate my wrist and break some of my fingers. As fir the monster, a beam of white super charged soul energy went through it's bulbous body. And seconds later, it started turning grey, and solid, like some sort of hardened gelatin or dried mucus. Then it's body broke apart and was blown away. I guess we won this round.
There was no jubilant exclamations heard. We had quite a few injured and I hated to admit it, but some were also dead. We paid a price for this victory, and a celebration would just seem wrong and insensitive. I looked at the other end of the plain and saw that the canyon wall encircled it, like a hidden valley of some sort. And at the end was a heavily rusted metal gate with vines grown over it. However even with the passage of time, I could still the words written on top of the sixty foot tall gate. It read.
"Welcome To Transylvania."
