Chapter 259

With one smooth curve, I made the final stroke on the Projection spell formula. There was a flash of bright light, as all three spell circles began to rotate all over the gate. And then the gate just faded away, leaving the spell circles behind, and rotation around each other. Though I did not have any first circle spells, I was now invariably a first circle spell caster, now I had to choose what sort of magical class I would focus on.
Another gate suddenly appeared on the root besides mine, looking just as dull and blank as the first. Now I had to etch three first circle spells on that gate to be able to advance to a second circle spell caster, though based on my research, just etching three first circle spells won't be enough. I had add an extra second circle spell, that would serve as an augmentative spell, a support spell of sort, that would be like a passive, and boosts the power of my spells. Such a method was not used for the first gate because, a first circle spell caster does not need the support and the mental energy won't be able to handle it, though I beg to differ. And second circle spell casters, need it to give more strength to their spells.
Anyways all that can wait. My mind had to get acclimated to the new spells, and I still had to practice them. I opened my eyes, and almost immediately, Baeki barged into my study room.
"We have to leave, now!" She shouted at me, looking frantic and worried.
"Whoa calm down, what's going on?" I asked her as I got closer.
"Remember when Adamas said this realm had a slower time frame than the real world, he was right! But ever since we activate the temples, the time frame has gone up to match the one with the real world. Now two days here is a day out there, and we've been in here for three weeks. The mountain should have collapsed by now, and our people would exposed to the sun! We need to leave!"
I was shocked by the sudden turn of events, and just as soon as she finished speaking Adamas flew right in. I was about to blow up at him, but his sister, the fire dragon Ashes, started speaking as she also flew into the study room.
"Brother our calculations are wrong, we thought that the time frame alignment would be slow, taking at least a fifty year cycle before it matches that of the real world, but we were wrong. What do we do now, there isn't enough to train them both. And I feel as if something big is happening outside the realm." She said to Adamas.
"All these is happening because we're being sabotaged. The forces of the dark entity must have noticed the activation of the realm. After all, a cosmic and spiritual anomaly like the birth of a dragon king, much less six would no doubt attract attention. Now more than ever we need to get the kings together and their army ready. We have no choice, we have to leave with them and travel the universe, looking for the seven keys. We've confirmed where the shield is, we already have the spear. What ever training they need we'll do it outside, we can come back for resupply as soon we're done settling their family, and making sure the realm has a stable and protected entrance. Your Majesties please prepare for departure." Adamas said to us. He was about to fly out, when I grabbed him by his tail, and pulled him back, ignoring this surprised squeal.

"What do you mean sabotaged, and this dark entity, aren't we only supposed to worry about his forces five years from now, when the sixth and seventh layer merge, why the hell are we hearing him, her or it being mentioned now?"
Adamas looked sheepish, and cornered. But I gave him a look that told him, I was not taking anything less than the truth from him.
"My apologies your majesties, but the merger between both universes have already started. It would only see it's completion in five years. But during the process of its merger, the spatial shield, around both the sixth layer universe and the seventh would be on the fritz. It would allow the dark entity to send a part of his essence here, letting it corrupt other entities or organisms, and use them to do his bidding, which is stop earth from getting to the core universe, so that it could feast on the planet that gave birth to us all. This is just a probing force, as his real army so t be coming until both layers fully merge, and once that is done, for a year, before the assimilation of both layers is stabilized, we sill have to keep on fighting and holding them back until their portals close. Then we wait for the next raid, during the next merger of the layers, and so on and so forth."
Fuck! So we even had lesser time than we though we did, well not exactly but. We would have our hands full dealing with this new threats even before the bloody merger completes. I looked at Adamas with a glare and asked him.
"Why didn't you tell us this in the first place. You didn't think this was important Information to know, because this means there's an enemy out there that neither one of us can see. Which means we could be stabbed in the back and we wouldn't know why, or our families would be hurt by the enemies behind us, because you made us look ahead rather than all around! Why?" I yelled at him
"I thought it would have been better to keep such information aside, at least until your training was done. It was just that you would be able to focus, and believe me you wouldn't have been able to concentrate if you were so worried about the enemies from the shadows. These guys are unlike what you've experienced before, they're not just powerful figures in the mortal world, but powerful entities in the immortal world." Adamas said to me.
"Wait so you're saying we also have to fight gods too?" Baeki asked incredulously.
"Aren't they supposed to be on our side?" She added.
"No, majority of the gods know nothing about how they were made or born. Some of them who know, refuse to acknowledge that they are products of human beings belief and imagination. So many are neutral, waiting for substantial proof before they can make any sort of move, others fell to the temptation of the dark entity, and promises of them being gods over their own universe. The gods are divided into three factions, with the factions that believe and want to help being the smaller one, the neutrals are larger, followed by the dark gods." Ashes answered, before Adamas continued.
"Those dark gods have power, they're the gods mostly worshiped and respected by the mortals, which means they're stronger. The only reason they've not made any rash decisions, is because the other gods outnumber them 10 to 1. But any god or goddess that's made an active effort to stand against them, has been dealt with ruthlessly, and a prime example would be your wife. Lady Asha, or to be technical, Saleil the elven moon goddess." He said to me.
"Wait! but I thought she was....."
"Don't always believe the stories your Majesty, history is written by the victors. She was imprisoned because the moon she made, made vampires and a significant amount of children of the night stronger. And that's so that they can resist the allure and control of the dark gods, who seeded a lot of the children of night. She was imprisoned there because she tried to help, and every subsequent reincarnation of your wife has suffered for it. She's the moon goddess, in spirit, mind and soul, her body is just trapped in the moon. And all that because she cared for the greater good."
I took a deep breath, looked and Baeki and just shrugged my shoulders. What else was new, this has been happening so much I was wondering if the author of my fate and destiny was running out of new materials to challenge me. Because once again, I find myself battling insurmountable odds, Gods and heroes from earths legends and then some that I have absolutely no idea about. A wife that's a goddess, but has no idea about her past, or the fact that her original body is waiting on the moon for her.
I didn't just have a world to save, I had a universe or multiple universes to save. But I was thankful for one thing, and that was the fact that I was not alone in this fight, I had people that even though I haven't met them yet, I knew I could count on. And like all of my previous challenges, I just had to keep moving forward, and fighting as hard as I could.

THE PIT
THE BORDER BETWEEN THE GREEN AND BLUE DISTRICT
THREE HOURS TO DAWN
KODAK.
"Lord Malek we have to keep the underground rail system a secret, but at the rate this is going, those bloody snakes are going to uncover our whole operation, and to make matters worse, the sun will soon be up."
BOOOOM!
The sound of a huge explosion in the background disrupted Kodak from making his report as he bent his head down, to avoid being hit by the debris from the battlefield. He looked up at the full moon above his head, and took a deep breath as a surge of energy filled his body, and blood flowed faster, he could have sworn he almost felt his heart beat.
"Kodak! You have to hold the line for at least thirty minutes. You're the only. Capable general we have on that front, so please do what you have to do. We can't have a breach in our defenses, not now that the underground rail line is this close to red district. Hold the line for thirty more minutes, and retreat with your soldiers, the traps would have been sprung by then." Malek's voice rang out of the crest tattooed on the back of Kodak's hand.
Kodak nodded his head, but when he realized Malek could not hear him he answered back.
"Copy that lord Malek, I'll take care of this bloody serpents."
Kodak turned to face the battlefield, and the troop of armored Nagas, lamias and basilisks in front of him. Then he twirled his massive war hammer around, releasing a surge of energy through it, that made it glow an intense bloody light. Then he grinned maniacally as he turned to the soldiers around him and still fighting.
"Envoys! Suit up, and tear these reptiles to pieces." He roared.
Almost immediately an amazing sight to behold took place as all the vampires who were fighting and seemed to be in a tough spot, shone with varying degrees of blood red lights, and armors of different colors and designs covered their bodies. All of a sudden their speed doubled, some tripped and so to did their strength. Their attacks became brutal and down right sadistic as they swept through the Serpentis army like a wave washing over a sand castle.
Kodak was soon covered in the same light as he became covered in a resplendent golden armor. His war hammer was in his right hand, and in his left was a massive golden kite shield with red highlights. The edge of the shield was sharpens, and it gleamed under the light of the full moon. Kodak turned, pointing the shield outwards like a sword, as he disemboweled a Naga rogue that had crept up behind him.
The half snake half man fell to the ground with a shout, screaming as his innards spilled out of his body. Seconds later, Kodak's Warhammer landed with a sickening crunch on his head, ending his tortured existence. Kodak raised the Warhammer, slick with blood and turned his gaze back to the battlefield, and then he moved, a guardian and angel of death and destruction on this moon lit night.
