To be honest I think I was enjoying this whole killing the leaders zone by zone stuff. It was like an RPG game, where a player would advance in levels in a dungeon after defeating each floor boss. But or course there was a. whole lot more at stake than just a simple dungeon raid, and to be honest I felt a little weird. It was as if I had to separate identities fighting for control.

A part of me was yelling g and berating me about my complete disregard of life, even though the life seems to be a perverted combination of a vampire and demon. The old me valued all life, I still did, but I was being too lackadaisical with the lives laid helplessly in front of me. But this was not the time to tortured or guilty over the loss of lives, everything that happens is always a means to an end, and necessary sacrifices for the greater good.

Soren and I got to the fourth zone, and this time we were not fighting against one person, but rather the entire zone itself. I guess this zones boss wanted to deal with us by using superior numbers. And that would have been a smart move in the long run, if they were not so weak. But making such a choice had put me in a rather tough position, because if I continue as I've been doing so far, then this would be a massacre, and a lot of people would end up dead.

So to avoid unnecessary killings, I used the soul runs push and shield to keep them away from me and Soren, and completely isolated, so that they wouldn't interfere with this fight of mine. The boss of this zone was wiry wee thing, he was short only about a foot tall. I was a little put off and surprised by his diminutive size, at least I was until he screamed.

As small as he was, this demon had a voice that could rip the flesh from a person's bones. The blast from the demon's sound wave threw me and Soren backwards and into a crowd of demons. The power behind it's voice was so powerful that my skin felt chaffed and dry. If I was any less resilient than I am, I would probably be seriously injured, or worse sliced to pieces and exploded into multiple pieces.

My head was ringing and my gaze felt a little foggy and unsettled. But that feeling only lasted for a moment. It took Soren a little while longer to get back control of his cognitive abilities, but we got up just in time to see the short demon running away from us, his bountiful behind jiggling with each awkward step he took in his attempt to run away from me.

There was no way in hell I was going to let that bloody thing run away from me, but even though he was short and fat, he was so fast that he was already halfway across his zone by the time I looked up. Soren growled besides me, and shot forwards towards the demon, lightening dancing angrily over his golden body. I followed close behind, keeping pace with him as we bounded through the zone and caught to the demon, just in time for it to turn around and scream as us again.

I put up a shield, but even the shield was unable to stop me and Soren com being thrown backwards like ragdolls. I was a little surprised that the demon's attack could actually bypass my shield and attack me and Soren. The only way for it to be able to do so, was if the attack being used was actually powered by soul energy, and if that was the case, then it was not the physical damage I had to worry about, it was the damage to my soul.

I took a step forward and couldn't help but hunch over as I felt a searing pain in my soul. My vision blurred for a moment as I actually felt my soul shake and memories of my life were peeling off of it. I was shocked and very afraid about this sudden turn of events, but I quickly used my soul energy to cover my soul, and hold in the memories that were about to be erased. I did the same for Soren, and we stood looking at the still fleeing demon with anger suffused in our gaze.

I had no idea what memory Soren was about to lose, but for me, it was the memory of when my children were born, and when I met both their mothers. And memories were a very important aspect of a person's life, heck that's what a soul is made up of. So if you lose one important and prime memory, it would cause a snowball or domino effect, taking out every other memory that's connected to it in one way or another. Which means Xaseah and Asha and our children would not have been just a memory, they would not even exist to me.

"I'm going to kill that fucking pig!" Soren roared out in anger as he gave chase.

The only solution I could come up with in regards to the strange skill of this demon, was to use soul energy to cover our souls, and protect our ear canals. It was like an extra ear drum that filtered and reflected whatever infernal sounds he let out to attack us. This should give us an edge and enough time to kill him.

But Soren was not the only one who had gotten angry. Sure I was the one who invaded, but if you think about it; I didn't come here with the intention to fight, it was these bastards that just went after me because I had blood that they could drink. I was a King and definitely above being food for a rabble of demonic vampires.

But yet some idiot thought it was wise to attack with a skill or spell that could erase my most important memory, the memories of my family. I don't care how, but I was going to kill that pygmy demon, and I'm going to make sure it fucking hurts and that every moment until his end is as agonizing as possible. There was an unspoken rule about messing with a man's family, I guess he didn't the memo.

But beyond my anger I also had to analyze this fight properly. The demon was the only one I've seen with any special ability or skill, well so far anyway. But if this demon was this strong, with even a special ability to lean back on, then it's obviously the other demon bosses to come would not be so easily dealt with as the others before them. So loath as I was to admit this, considering I've been looking down on this breed of demons for quite a while, it seems I have to get serious.

I also couldn't help but berate myself, I should know better than to look down on any species, no matter their flaws and weaknesses. This was the same thing the council of light had done to us, and we've proved them wrong. And this demons all came from our bloodlines, vampires who had been corrupted by the evil essence of a demonic goddess. It was a huge oversight on my part to look down on them, and I felt disgusted for doing so. And that was because doing so made me not better than Adein and the rest of the council of light.

I called out my sword and shield and took to the sky, using my Aura to fly as I chased after Soren and the Pygmy demon. From my position in the sky I could see a whole lot more of the city, and it really was a mess. However there were tiny corners of the city that had graces of green life and even clean water, though based on how guarded those places are, there's more to them than meets the eye. But that was a question for another day, I had a demon to kill.

I dived down and stopped right in front of the demon. He was on the edge of his zone and the next, and in the next zone there was a pair of female demons waiting for him each with a scythe and sword in hand. Looking at those demons reminded me of Kodak's mother Varsessa, and even Kodak himself with their red skin purple hair and yellow eyes. Their mutation seems a whole lot more refined than most of the other demons I've seen, which I suspected to be because they're not the first generation of mutated demonic vampires, but rather a subsequent generation that has had time to perfect their genes and acclimate to the combination of vampirism and demonism.

With how desperate he looked, I was sure this two were most probably the bosses of the next zone, and he was probably running to them for help. I was standing between him and his allies, and right behind was a rapidly approaching Soren who had no intention of stopping as he headed straight for the Pygmy murder in his feline eyes.

No matter how you looked at it, Soren looked a whole lot more terrifying than I did, which means he would probably think that Soren was the bigger threat. The Pygmy ran towards me, screaming as he did. I planted my feet down, waiting for the demon to come closer. But as he came closer, his sound waves became stronger, so much so that it started pushing me back. The protection I had placed around my soul seemed to be weakening, and in a moment of desperation I used the spell ripple shield.

A blue purple shield came into existence around me, and the grating sounds of his screaming was completely cut off. Of course the spell was only a zero circle spell, which means it would last long. But it gave me enough time to use push to shut the demon's mouth and drag him towards me.

He was completely surprised by the sudden turn of event, and the look of fear on his face was almost too pleasing for me. I wrapped my right hand around his throat and smiled at him in the most sinister manner possible. Then I turned to make sure I was facing the demonic sisters, as I raised the Pygmy demon up and slammed him to the ground, again and again and again until he was completely battered and bruised.

And then I grabbed his right leg and pulled it off. Even with my hands wrapped around his throat, he was still able to scream so hard and so loud it almost gave me an aneurysm. But then I shoved the removed leg into his larger than normal mouth, and watched as he choked on the limb, slowly and very painfully. And then he died.

I threw his body backwards towards Soren, and only heard the blast of lightening as Soren blasted his body apart. Then I began walking towards the bosses of the third zone, ignoring their scantily clad figure and keeping my gaze on their faces. I was preparing for a fight as I twirled my sword, causing a whooshing sound to emerge as I moved it a little too quickly.

However it seems they were not ready or willing to fight as both sisters stepped aside and took a knee. I knew what was coming next, because as I was I've received the oath of loyalty from millions of people that by this point, I knew when and how it felt like when someone was pledging their entire lives to me.

I watched on and let them swear the oath, smiling as the atmosphere became charged with power and electricity, coupled with the sound of thunder booming. The oath had been made, which means I've gotten new allies. This was a welcome development to be honest, I really didn't think it was a good idea to kill my way to the top, not anymore at least.

And while I was still in awe about the demonic vampires ability to make oaths just like normal vampires, I knew I still had a job to do, and the pleasure of directing them to know how they work is totally left to Malek. After all he was the only one who could actually make sense of the world and all it's weirdness.
