Chapter 310

I was forced awake when someone (who would be dead soon enough) splashed a bucket of water on my face. For a king this was a rather humiliating position, and it was not so farfetched to say I had the urge to start screaming off with your head! Or something like that. My hands were bound together to a rope that was tied to a wooden beam six meters above the ground, so I was hanging in the air, right in the middle of the village, nothing more than a spectacle for all of them.

The first thing I did was look for Soren, but I couldn't find a single trace of his golden form anywhere. I was worried, but I had faith in that lion, he would not be taken down so easily, at least that's what I hoped. This group of humans have completely upturned my perception of humans and what they're capable of. Of course the odds were against me, seeing as I had to fight more than one person, but even then, individually, the members of this village were really strong.

The village was actually quite large, almost at the size of a small town with houses built like a suburban neighborhood. From what I could see, the houses were built in a circle, and right in the middle of that circle was some sort of shrine or temple. I was hung somewhere on the outskirts of the village, but from where I was tied, it was straight line from here to the shrine.

The villagers seem to attach quite a significant amount of importance to this shrine, because in the ten minutes that I've been awake, I've seen quite a few of them walk in and out of that shrine, probably to go worship some weird god, or maybe have an orgy. Who knows what this people did with their time anyway.

I had to admit though that they were a rather strange bunch, in other to beat me they had to resort to self harm and mutilation. It was like they were berserkers or something, just Xaseah. The more pain and anger she felt, the more powerful she became, and if the battle kept on going for a while, she would eventually run out of steam and be in a rather precarious position, because there was only so much damage a person could take in a fight.

So which is to say, I was captured by a village of berserkers who had extreme mastery over soul energy. I never offended them, but they chose to come after me, and to be honest I have every intention of making them pay for committing such a transgression against me and my friend. I understood that Transylvania worked on very different rules, but this was just not right, what about diplomacy.

But I don't think they cared about that, but if I'm to find out about why I was attacked by them, I should probably listen to the crowd that's gathered in front of me, rather than being lost in my own thoughts. Plus there was something weird about this rope they used in tying me up. It has completely sealed off all my abilities, leaving me completely helpless and at their mercy. So unfortunately I had to be on my best behavior.

"Who're you?" one of the villagers asked, and even prodded me with a stick for emphasis.

"Well I'll tell you what I'm not, and that's an animal, so please if you want to lose that hand, keep touching me with that stupid stick of yours. I'll make sure to shove it up your asshole when I'm sending you to the next life….or maybe just when I'm sending you to hell." It was obvious that I failed, I failed miserably. So much for being on my best behavior.

"you would do well to answer my questions strange creature, or else your death would not be fast, and it would be painful beyond compare. So I will ask again, who are you?"

"Did you just call me a strange creature? Seriously. You're a bunch of humans in the ancestral homeland of vampires, living, surviving, maybe somewhat thriving. Not to mention you guys know your way around the manipulation of soul energy, something that's really hard for humans to grasp, and you call me a strange creature. From where I'm standing, you guys are the weirdos."

I wasn't making sense, the confused look on their faces was enough proof that my nonchalant and fearless words had thrown them for a loop. I was obviously not giving them the reactions the wanted and expected from me, but it was no fault of theirs really, I've just seen too many tough shits, including gods to be afraid of a village of humans of steroids. But then again, I still needed to give these people an answer, just so that my head remained attached to my body.

"I'm a vampire on a quest for the ancient city of Idah, I've never had a quarrel with you people before, yet you set upon me and my friend like a pack of wild animals with no remorse or conscience. I might not be in a position to demand answers, but I believe you savages owe me an explanation!"

Famous last words don't you agree? Well at least it didn't set them off, as they looked at each other and whispered amongst themselves. I get the feeling that they all thought that they were the good guys, but with the way I had phrased my question, it put them in a difficult position as the aggressor. But these guys were humans, the ability to play politics comes really easy to all of them.

"That may be so, but you are obviously a liar. You look nothing like a vampire, those demons would haunt you dreams if you take one look at them, plus you look like us, and even have mastery over the soul arts just like us. I say that you are no vampire, but rather a traitor from one of the human villages, who is on the run for his sins, that's the only viable one explanation." One of the villagers spoke up, he looked rather thin and rat like in visage and posture, like he was scheming something.

"Seriously, can you even hear yourself. You just came up with a bogus and insane story and then you call it the only viable explanation. Something you actually just concluded with your rat like face twitching like it has smelled a chance to cause chaos. You must have been dropped on your head as a child, because then that would be the only 'viable explanation' of your stupidity." I said to him with the most sarcastic voice I could muster.

But based on his words, I've been able to come to a conclusion. These humans, were the descendants of the other humans that may have been living in Transylvania during the time of the vampire war. They also changed, evolved in a way, but still they also lost touch to the outside world. They lost touch to the truth, whatever may have been become of the vampires within Transylvania, was the truth that they now new. So a human looking guy, claiming to be a vampire, was beyond stupid, and downright ridiculous.

But if this was the case, then it means that somehow, all of the demonic vampires in Transylvania have lost the ability to turn members of any other race into a vampire. And even if they still retained that ability, the turn would also trigger a mutation similar to that of the vampire that attempted to turn someone. It wouldn't be like ours, where all that changes is what's inside, retaining your physical features, with the only thing changing being your eyes.

"I am a vampire, but I'm not from Transylvania. I'm from a city called Ethernalia Leonis, a place beyond the gates of Transylvania. A city that's bright, peaceful, and home to not just vampires, but also humans, Nephilims, giants, nagas, werewolves, elves and gnomes. That's my home, and it's where all the vampires that were never here to be perverted by the demonic power of Kali reside." I explained to them, hoping that somehow they would be able to see reason and let me down. But rat face was determined to cause trouble for me.

"Ha! That sounds even more ridiculous, there's nothing beyond Transylvania, only the bridge to hell that's guarded by the monster of many faces, and the endless blood sea filled with so many perils you would die just from breathing in it's toxic fumes. He lies!" I don't know this guy, but I've decided that I hate this guy.

"Rarrrr! I said I am a vampire!" I might have lost control a bit, as my eyes blazed gold, and my fangs poked out of my lips in my anger and desperation. It was surge of power neither I nor this group of people expected, but it was all I needed for me to step into the shadow realm, escaping my bonds and coming out from the shadow of the pole that I was bound to.

I had half a mind to just travel around the shadow realm, wreaking havoc and reaping the lives of every single villager in front of me, including their children, their elderlies and the pets, if they have one. But I recognized the darkness within me was just asking for free reign, and I was not about to let go of my humanity, at least not until I know why these sons of a bitch attacked me and Soren.

They all looked tense and ready to attack, to be honest I didn't think I was that scary, but from the look of things, these people were not used to new things. And I was as new as it could get, maybe a little weird too, but none the less an enigma they couldn't figure out, and definitely couldn't trust. They all had out their daggers and other sharp instruments on hand, all of them ready to begin mutilating themselves into berserk mode, should I make any sudden movements.

"Look, we all got off on the wrong foot, and while I'm still going to kill you all, if you don't apologize and tell me why the fuck you attacked me and my friend, who is still missing by the way. I would like for us to have a civil conversation, like normal people."

"Arghhhhhhhhhhh!!"

"No Un Remaak abul! Wait!"

Though the name gave me pause, I guess I couldn't judge his parents naming sense. They must not have loved him, after all who would give such s ridiculous name to their child. But weird names aside, at least I could not place said name to the face of the rat like villager. He had plunged a seven inch bone dagger into his chest, and with the dagger still stuck inside his body, with black soul energy blasting off his body like a massive borne fire, he charged.

Now I had to give it to him, he was really fast. Just as fast as me, and with the way the ground cracked with every move he made, he was just as strong. And I was still feeling weak from the effects of that bloody rope, so most of my abilities were completely out of my hand. But here was a bleeding guy charging a vampire with the ability to control blood...he's really stupid.

I waited until he was right in front of me, before I brought all the blood in his body to a halt. It expected it was rather painful seeing ad he squealed like a pig, but that was his problem not mine, plus it's a problem he wouldn't have to worry about for long. I was going to make an example out of this guy, I noticed that the people in Transylvania respond only to power, force and brutality. And while I love diplomacy, at the moment my mental health is in serious question, and this guy had annoyed me, not to mention I'm weak, and very, very hungry. So I turned to him and said, just loud enough that his friends could hear me.

"This is not going to hurt you, not unless I want it to. But I don't want you to feel pain, because if you do, you would probably come back and be a pain in my butt. So be thankful that your death would as peaceful as a good nights sleep, or even more, like you're balls deep in your woman's hidden valley. But none the less, bon appetite."

It was like biting into the juiciest watermelon ever! Not that he tasted like watermelon, but one of the richest, if not the richest flavor I've ever felt from a human exploded in my mouth, and it was as if I lost my mind. It was not just his blood I was consuming, but it was also his soul energy. And as I did so, I felt myself growing stronger, and stronger. This was like a drug more powerful than a mixture of heroin, cocaine and marijuana at the same time, it was fucking insane. And as I drained him of his blood, I could hear him moaning in pleasure, to be honest I almost let go due to how disgusted that sound was to me, but this was a meal unlike any other.

(YOUR SOUL CAPACITY HAS INCREASED. YOURE NOW A SEVENTH CIRCLE THORACIC REALM RUNE MASTER, SOUL ENERGY HAS INCREASED BY TWO TIERS)

The system message was a welcome development, and so was the smile on my face. If I didn't know any better, I would say that this village of humans were living breathing, You walking exploring points. If this was a game, eating them up would be like finding a super ultra rare farming ground. But that was not me, besides I still didn't know why they attacked me and Soren.

"So…..where were we?"
