"How did you get loose? That's impossible!" One of the villagers asked me with shock etched allover his twisted visage. I looked at him and shrugged, cleaning the residue of blood from the side of my mouth as I answered him.

"Nothing is impossible, especially when you're me. But if you want a detailed explanation, then by all means I'll give you one. Whatever that rope you used in thing me up was, it shares similar properties with the compound Ionite. And I know for a fact that it's not Ionite, because this rope has a flow of energy all of it's own. And it's that energy that serves as dampener for my ability, kind of like a seal. The Ionite compound is unique, but it can only be processed into a metallic or liquid form, nothing clothe like, at least not yet anyway. But Ionite has no flow of energy, it's quite simply blank. And when it touches a person, so to will that person will become.

But the rope you used on me had an energy flow, and when I got angry and showed my fangs, I released an energy source of my own. Though it was weak due to the fact that I was being held by those bloody ropes, it was still running on an energy circuit, and when my energy came in contact with it, causing a slight interference, the flow of energy within the rope was broken for just a fraction of a second, and I took my chance to slip out of it. Do you understand?"

To be honest I don't think they did, considering how they were all staring at me with confusion allover their faces, I was sure I had used words that these people were completely unfamiliar with. It left me with a dilemma, but I felt stupid for it. Why would I be explaining to them how I escaped, that wad arrogant beyond compare, and they would be expecting me to do it again should they decide to capture once more, and this time they'll be sure to think of a counter measure to my escaping tricks.

"What do you want?" another one of the villager asked me.

I noticed that he was fairly young, though his bulky frame did not seem to lessen the youthful look on his face. In fact if I had to be honest, every body in this village, that I have seen so far, were rather young looking, even rat face (God bless his soul). Maybe the older ones were out an about doing something else, leaving the young fellows behind. The oldest of them would not look more than 25 or 27, and the youngest no more than 15.

I'm sure there's a pretty simple explanation for all this, but that wouldn't take me anywhere. According to Dracula, this village was standing on top of a mass grave, and the clue that I needed in order to find the city of Idah was probably snugly tucked in one of those graves. Now it's obvious that this village of soul warriors? Could kick my ass eleven ways to Sunday, though I'm sure I could catch them off guard with my runes, I had to be careful because I had no idea what other amazing shit they were capable of, and also there's quite a lot of children in the village, bit counting the youths in front of me. I've made the statement I wanted to make, and they still seemed open to a conversation, so its better if I just followed diplomacy instead.

"Well asking me what I want seems a little redundant, seeing as you guys were the ones who fucking attacked me! In my sleep! But we should let bygones be bygones, I believe you guys might be able to help me with my search. You see I'm on a quest to find the lost capital city of Transylvania, the city of Idah. And also to recover the three pieces of divinity that belongs to the goddess Kali, so that she can be made whole again."

The moment I mentioned Kali and her divinities, their stances changed from wary, to completely hostile. To be honest I didn't expect this, maybe Kali was sensitive topic for them, but there was no way I could have known that, I was just asking for help. But I could clearly see that they knew something about Kali that they didn't want others to find out. And right now I was as other as I could possibly get.

"Get out of our village! There's nothing for you here!" one of the villagers spat at me, a female to boot, and she looked really fierce with her eyes glaring at me, and her bone dagger poised to stab into her thigh.

"Are you guys kidding me right now! You kidnapped me and my friend remember, we never did anything to you bunch of bloody savages, and now you want me to just leave….hell no! I'm not going anywhere without Soren, and not until you guys tell me why you attacked us, and why you all started acting like giant ass hats the moment I mentioned Kali."

I don't know if I was trying to diffuse the situation or making it worse. Yeah the truth was that this villagers annoyed me, they kicked my ass, and quite painfully I might add, manhandled me, tied me up, tried to kill me, though the instigator for that is dead and part of him digesting in my stomach.

I didn't want to get pushed around again, not until I get some answers. And I knew I couldn't act out too much, they were still too strong an opponent to face, especially since there were this many of them. No matter how powerful I am, it's quite impossible for me to beat an entire village of humans with physical capabilities close to mine, and can keep increasing the scope of the strength the more pain they're in.….I won't be able to survive the onslaught.

"we will send your beast out after you, but you must leave Jakande and never return! We owe you no explanation!" the female villager said to me.

"Wait what do you mean by...."

"Listen to them Kael, now is not the time for you to come here. I just brought you here because I felt the need to show you that the power you have right now, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things. Also, you're to choose a fledgling from amongst one of the villagers."

That voice annoyed me to no end, and I could see from their faces, than none of the villagers liked the appearance of the new comer. I turned around hoping to punch him in the face, but Dracula weaved around my strike like a fish through water, with not even his clothes being shifted out of place.

"Calm yourself down young king, I know you're really angry right now, but everything you go through is for a reason. Now retrieve the golden lion, he's been wonderful company on our journey so far, come with me, I'll tell you what clue is hidden beneath the city as penance for what you've had to go through. This village is a dead end in your journey, at least for now anyway. You and I both know you can force them to tell you anything, you're not strong enough. So let's come back when you're stronger, but for now let's go pay a visit to the current king of Transylvania. After and if you kill him, I'll lead you to the city of Idah myself."

What the hell was going on here? True I couldn't face these people in a fight, but to just up and leave as if everything that has happened since this morning was nothing more than a joke did not sit well with me. But I'm the end it doesn't pay to be stubborn about leaving this place, not when Soren might be in danger.

The villagers were quite surprised by Dracula's sudden arrival, but they ignored him and still gave me looks that could be interpreted as 'get the hell out of our village'. Left without much of a choice, I made my way out of the village, and back to the top of the hill where they had attacked me.

Every bone in my body was screaming out in protest and anger, I did not want to leave, not with my tail between my legs. But in the end the choice was out of my hands, I was not strong enough, at least not yet anyway.

We only had to wait half an hour before a still bound Soren was dragged and unceremoniously thrown in front of me. There were black chains allover his body, chains made from soul energy that sealed all of his movements, with only his eyeballs moving. It was a rather powerful way to keeping someone subdued, and even with my anger and indignation, I couldn't help but admire the abilities of these villagers, they were really skilled with using soul energy.

The soul chains faded away from Soren's body, and almost immediately lightening began to crackle and spread all over his body. I had scarcely opened my mouth to say something, when a lightening bolt the size of fuel truck fell from the sky and smashed right into the shrine in the middle of their village. For a moment there was barrier that held the destructive force of nature at bay for a few seconds, but then the barrier cracked, and half that shrine was blasted to rubble, with a shockwave spreading from it that brought down most of the houses around.

But as if the first strike was not enough, Soren was already preparing for the second. I had no ides he was that angry, compared to what he was feeling, and with the way he reacted, what ever anger I felt seemed like child's play compared to his, and he was fully prepared to tear that village apart, regardless of the consequences. And to be honest I wanted to let him do it, however that plan went out the window when the group of villagers who escorted us out came running towards. And based on how frenzied they were as they stabbed and cut themselves like a pack of wild animals addicted to pain, I would say that they were really pissed.

"You couldn't leave them alone could you? You just had to put yourselves into even more shit than you're already in. You shouldn't act like a typical animal Soren, because we all know you aren't one. But in light of the fact that this altercation is slightly...or maybe mostly my fault, I would advice the both of you to run west now, unless you want to die a painful death, ciao."

And then he vanished again, just like he did this morning, leaving me to the mercies of this weird village with weird humans. I climbed over Soren's back, as he took off, heading towards the west with our pursuers close behind. Massive lances and energy balls made from soul energy flew around us, destroying the terrain. Soren and I couldn't function at out optimal state, because whatever those bloody people had used to keep us in place, it left some nasty side effects that was making getting full control of our abilities a hassle. So all Soren could do for now was run.

The lands to the west was an open plain, it was barren just like the rest of Transylvania, and devoid of any life. But maybe it could render us a little help; seeing as I couldn't shadow walk yet, me using it to escape at the time had been sheer luck, I needed to set a trap behind me that would slow this people down, and give us the time and chance to slip away from them. What I was about to do next, would probably hurt like a bitch, especially in my weakened state, but I didn't have a choice.

As Soren ran, I leaned over to the side, holding on to his mane as I hung over the side of his body. If I was feeling normal, hanging from his side like this, while he was moving so fast would not have been a problem, however I was still weak, and it was taking all of my concentration to do this. I looked at the ground that was rushing past me, and stretched out my hand towards it. I had to quickly pull back, as a lance of green soul energy just blasted that particular place apart.

I grumbled in annoyance and looked back at the rapidly approaching villagers, their strides were so powerful I could feel the earth tremble beneath their feet, and a cloud of dust raised in the wake of their movements, creating a sandstorm that covered everything behind them. Impressive as that might be, I still had something that I had to do.

I pushed my abilities to the limit, making myself move as fast as my weakened vampire body would allow me, and to be honest; that was pretty fast. The world seemed to slow down around me as I reached down and touched the ground, immediately leaving a rune circle behind. The world sped up again, and I arranged myself back on Soren's back, and that's when the run I placed went off.

I couldn't delay if for long, because those guys were really close to catching up to me, so I made the rune go off just two seconds after I placed it. At that point they were already really close to it, which is why I knew they were terribly surprised when the earth beneath their feet gave way. A massive hole started taking form, as the barren plain behind us began to break apart like clay in water, creating a massive basin.

The villagers of Jakande tried their best to avoid falling into that hole, most of them used their soul energy to create a create a cloud underneath their feet that helped them fly, the others seemed to teleport for short distances, but it was not enough. This hole was supposed to cover the entire plain, which I forgot to mention was almost 60 to 70 kilometers in any direction, and that was the distance calculated from the middle of the plain, and it was a mid way point I just passed.

"Soren whatever you do, please don't stop running!" I said to Soren as I held on to his mane in panic.

I may have gone overboard with this move of mine. The villagers were no longer behind us, probably swallowed by the massive hole that was still expanding rapidly and chasing after us. No matter what skill those villagers had, they were human and as such their supply of energy would be limited, especially since I knew their berserk mode sapped a lot of strength from them.

I didn't know what was beneath this hole I've created, a hole that was still growing. And to be honest I didn't want to find out, So all we could do was run and run, as the earth beneath our feet opened up her jaws to swallow us into darkness.
