Chapter 322

Back on earth, whole families would gather together for a cookout, celebrating a reunion, a birth, a death, or our country's independence. Looking at Ethernalia Leonis from my vantage point of the roof of the tallest tower in the palace; I knew none of those cookouts on earth could compare to this.

At the moment the city had more 13 million registered citizens of multiple races, though many of them live outside the city, occupying tows and villages we had built around so that the city would not be too crowded, but today everyone was here. Male, female, young, old and immortal.

There was a sense of unity abound not just because the king commanded it, but because there was just no use in bringing anger and animosity to this place, not with such happiness. At this point the vision I wanted for the vampire race has ready been achieved, they were no longer judged for what they were and what they could do, and they've learnt to accept and trust other races unconditionally. So now they were more than just vampires just as the members of other races were more than what species they belonged to. Now it's not about what you are, but rather where you're from.

"You have something to tell me don't you?"

I heard Asha's voice from behind me as she moved forward to stand beside me. The sun was about to set, and it castle d a soft golden glow over the city, blessing it in such a way that made Ethernalia so divine. This was the home we both had to bleed and almost die multiple times to build, if she leaves it definitely won't be the same without her.

"What gave you that idea my love?" I asked her, as I turned and pulled her into my arms, a mischievous smile on my face.

"one you've been avoiding me, and two your not as proficient in hiding your emotions as you think you are, even from our bond. So if you don't want me to throw you off this roof, you better tell me what's wrong."

And so without much of a choice I told her everything, Xaseah joined us almost a minute later, hearing everything I had to tell her, along with the deep fears in my heart. It was not as if I wanted to tell her, I was completely indecisive myself, but this choice was never mine to make alone, it was ours; all three of us, together as a family. But ultimately that decision would be left to the hands of Asha, we could only support her.

"You're scared aren't you, both of you?" Asha asked me and Xaseah.

We did not need to answer for her to see the fear within our expression. No matter how hard we've fought it seems as if life does not want to give our family a break, yet we've kept on pushing through. But this time, this pill was a little too hard to swallow.

"I'm scared too my loves, but we need this. Whatever edge we can gain to protect our family, and our people, we have to take it, no matter what sacrifice we have to pay. In a nutshell I think somewhere deep down, we all knew that what we have won't last forever, nothing ever does. However just because I might become different, that doesn't mean I'll stop loving you two and our kids, it doesn't mean I would leave. We can't trust anything Dracula says, let's let our love shield us, and I know it's strong enough to do so." Asha said to me as she rested her head on my shoulder and held onto Xaseah's hand.

"I guess we'll always be held captive be responsibility and duty, especially since we now have so many people looking up to us for leadership and guidance. Some part of me feels really unwilling to leave any one of these responsibilities to our children." Xaseah said as she crossed her legs.

"I think we should leave them with a choice, besides I'm a vampire which means I'll be king for a very long time. That's more than enough time for them to grow up and decide if they want to be rulers too. But for now, let's just keep making the future and the present as safe as possible for them. Who knows, when it's their turn, they might completely surprise us. We can't say for sure that their story would be the same as ours, I hope not. We'll be fine." I answered her, trying to also convince myself that the future ahead of us doesn't seem so filled with duty and responsibilities with an end in sight.

"We should really enjoy the party, or would you guys prefer a more private one." Asha asked with a mischievous grin.
I matched her grin with one of my own while Xaseah rolled her eyes and also smiled.

"while that sounds like a great idea, we still have to party with our people. And as much as it pains me, it seems I now have to be the responsible one out of the three of us, so no sex until we're done with the party and Asha has taken that divinity thingy. If we have sex now, I'll feel like it's a last sex kind of scenario, and I don't want to feel anxious when spending time with the people I love. Besides, I want to know what having sex with a goddess feels like." Xaseah said as she got up from her spot on the roof and jumped off, gliding hundreds of meters to the ground.

"She's such a show off isn't she?" Asha asked with a smile.

"Who's fault is that, she learnt that from you. But you have to admit what she said is right. Let's enjoy the party, and then let's go on a short vacation with the kids. It would just be the five of us, with maybe a few guards, we can go anywhere on Shearath, or the universe, just take your pick." I said to Asha as placed my forehead on hers.

"Well I'm going to hold you to that promise. There's one place I would like to return to, let's go back to the place we fell in love, where we got married."

"What's the guarantee that things won't go sideways and a bloodbath won't ensue." I asked her with a smirk as I pecked her on the lips.

"Don't jinx us dear husband, words have power you know. But that's why I want us to go there, it's been a while since this world has heard the lion of Shearath, roar, a long time since they seen vampires in power. We've invited the world to see our city, it's time to meet the world. And we should take the opportunity to put another child in my belly, preferably one this time. I'm sure Xaseah would love that." Asha said as she returned my kisses.

"So our vacation would be filled with Sex, trouble making, face slapping and a boat load of domination. How long is this vacation supposed to last anyway?" I asked her a little surprised.

"Until Cassiel and Michael are three years old." She replied.

"Oh! Doesn't that mean we'll leaving Ethernalia Leonis undefended?" I asked her.

"Who says Ethernalia Leonis would be in Shearath at that time. I hear the realm of the dragon kings is nice this time of the year."

"Ooh!! I get it now. Damn I love how you think."

"Of course you do, that's why you married me isn't it."

Maybe this was just us ignoring the what its in front of us. Making plans for the future as if the possibility of Asha loosing herself and becoming an all powerful moon goddess that had no attachment to her husband, wife and her kids wasn't staring at us right in the face. Maybe this was just our delusion, a lie we're telling ourselves just to deal with the fear of the future. Maybe this was wrong, but I'll be holding on to this façade, plus I knew this was like a promise to me.

Maybe if someone else had paid attention to entire conversation they would not have made sense of what she just finished saying. But like I said it was a promise, a promise that even if she does change, she's going to stay with us until Cassiel and Michael get to three years of age. Just enough time for our kids to grow up enough to remember the face of their mother and how much she loved them, it was simply a promised to give us all a chance to properly say good bye. But I didn't mind, because without a doubt this gives me a chance and more than enough time to figure out a way to keep my wife to myself, goddess or not.

The party was wild in some places and calm in others. Nagas, Nephilims, Vampires, Humans, Dark elves, werewolves and a variety of different races hanging around and just mingling in ways that neither one of these races ever had to before.

I was grateful that they could all keel their animosity aside and just focus on being happy. With everything we've all experienced a moment of peace was something they all deserved. But the greatest sight of this festival of unity was the children, because even though everyone was mingling; in every group the ratio would always tip to the side of another race.

But the children were carefree, they was not a care in the world as they all jumped around and played, inventing new games, telling stories and bullying each other(I should probably put a stop to that.) The future was looking at me, and at least they've started out on a better footing than their parents. For the adults there would always be a smidge of darkness in their hearts, but I know every adult here wants nothing more than to fill the heads and hearts of their children with light.

Of course I can't expect everyone to be the same, there's bound to be those people Who're not happy with the current state of things. The ones who thrive in conflict and would condemn their children to such a life and future. They'll try to tear everything we've built down, but I know we will put up a fight and we'll win, we always do.

All of a sudden a burly Nephilim with his hands slung over the shoulders of a vampire stood up, dragging the vampire with him. Based on their flushed faces, it's obvious both of them were dead drunk, but the Nephilim pointed his half filled cup of wine at me and screamed with such a loud voice that almost everyone heard him.

"A TOAST!!!"

He yelled that a few times until he was sure he had the attention of everyone at the party. He swayed a bit on his feet before he dragged his startled vampire friend with him on top of the table they were a part of. Judging from the terrified look on the vampires face, he was not really good with crowds, but the Nephilim had his hand wrapped snuggly around his neck.

"A TOAST!! *HICK* TO A *HICK* WONDERFUL KING *HICK* LONG LIVE THE KING!"

"LONG LIVE THE KING!"
"LONG LIVE THE KING!!"
"LONG LIVE THE KING!!!"

These idiots I'm a fucking vampire, I could live forever if I wanted to, so of course I would live long. But this feeling I had right now, it was overwhelming. I felt like crying, and so I did. But I also laughed and smiled and jumped and drank and played games. I had children chasing me and me chasing them. I got annoyed and threw Emrys to them when he chose to laze around rather than join the fun. The image of him being pulled in two different direction by three year old gorgon and dark elf left me feeling very satisfied. I was happy, and through it all every once in a while someone would raise the chant and the crowd would follow.

"LONG LIVE THE KING!"
"LONG LIVE THE KING!!"
"LONG LIVE THE KING!!!"
Long live me.
