Chapter 336

All in all there were twenty four squirts on this frigate, I guess they could be compared to the F22 fighter jets from on earth, except of curse these were shaped like a dragon, and were pitch black. To say that they were shaped like a dragon was a bit of an exaggeration, but rather they were more like dragon flies.

The wings of the squires had a gravitational field of their own, and it had a total of four wings, two on each side meticulously designed to increase maneuverability in a variety of ways. The squares could fly backwards, downwards and upwards like a helicopter, and even sideways. I've seen them being used in a training exercise, and I knew they were so damn fast, that only races like the vampires, werewolves, dragons, and maybe to a certain extent the Serpent could pilot it. The reaction time required to pilot this beauty was very high, the pilot on his or her own should be able to reach a speed of 300kmh in an extremely grueling obstacle course if not more to be able to pilot it, not to mention intense hand eye coordination.

The squires are piloted in three different ways, and all at the same time. There's an AI assistant on it, or to be exact a dungeon monster with significant intelligence would be chosen to assimilate into anyone of the crafts, in much the same way Soren became a golden lion with the a ability to turn into a bike and move at the speed of sound if not more.

But apart from the assistance, a neural link is also required, the squires targeting system relief mainly on the extremely powerful senses of its pilots, giving it capabilities normal crafts can't match. In other words a vampire's powerful hearing, sight, sense of smell and touch would be transferred to the craft, it would be like fighting a living machine. And then finally the manual hand controls that moves the squires.

"Your Majesty the 81st battalion are drawing close, they're attempting to drop in on us from the stratosphere. It's causing a lot of strain on the crafts, but at the very least they're be out of range from the spatial storm."

We really should get a move on, these guys weed trying to catch us unawares, but they were also flying blind, relying mostly on their radar to locate us. But I've seen the schematics of the ship, it was no perfect with s lot of flaws, and one of those flaws is the fact that the ship's defense is weak from above and below, which means should our enemy get above and below us, weight be fucked.

"Kael you're the most powerful person here, and even though these might be your first time in a Squire, much like a lot of people here, your superior senses means that you're the perfect candidate for a decoy. There's a total of 33 squires on this knight frigate. Maxine and Xaseah would lead fifteen squires each making a total of two squads creating a pincer formation. Radars are not working to their utmost due to the storm, but they will still see us coming, so you will engage them, and keep the preoccupied long enough for Xaseah and Maxine to attack them from the sides in an ambush. Do that and then stand by for further orders." Asha's voice blasted out of the neural headset I had on my head. I guess when I told her to take command, she really did take command.

"Squire 0001 codename Black King, ready for neural link and deployment."

"initiating Neural link...…Neural link created....Neural link sustained…..Neural link locked in. Commencing deployment.....Black King Deployed!"

"God speed your Majesty."

For a moment there was these intense feeling of disorientation as I couldn't see properly of even feel. My senses were heightened to insane levels, and they were not coming from my body, rather from the sky itself. It took a while for me to reorient myself, and then I opened my eyes, seeing for the first time, through the eyes of a machine. There was color and it not any different from my normal sight, however when you consider the spinning targeting circles, the measurements of wind speed, velocity, atmospheric pressure and biological composition of my current area, then it's obvious this wasn't seeing normally.

The radar was somehow integrated into my mind like some sort spatial awareness, and it stretched to a radius of almost two hundred meters around me. I knew it would be a lot better without all these grey clouds and black lightening that made up the spatial storms interfering with a lot of our equipment. Either way, I've had my moment, it was time to work.

I put the squire into gear and angled it upwards, skirting the side of the frigates as I moved at a speed of almost 700kmh an hour and climbing. I could go faster, but for faster, but the idea was to let the 81st battalion to see me coming and make proper preparations to counter me. The squire had four wings, two low wings shaped just like that of dragon fly, flat and made from energy absorbing plates, while the top wings were shaped like those of a dragon in full flight forward.

As I moved forward, all four wings let of a blue glow as they rapidly absorbed and burned kinetic energy, and any other form of energy they could absorb at the moment. I could see them ahead, though their forms were a little obscured due to the spatial storm, their gleaming silver orb like crafts with a rotating iron cannon, mounted on a 360 degree gyroscope was a very had thing to miss. They opened fire.

*Pew, pew, pew, pew*

"Deploy Ionite shields!" I ordered to the squires monster assistant.

(Deploying Ionite shields....Ionite shields Deployed. Energy consumption increased by 50%. 30 minutes until engine overheat if shields are sustained.)

"That's okay, leave the shields on for one minute. Deploy weapon's system."

(Weapon systems Deploying in 5,4,3,2,1,0. Ionite EMP cannon deployed, fully charged in 5 minutes. Solar missiles ready, JD semi automatic machine laser guns ready.)

For a moment I had no idea what to say, how could there be theirs much weapon's on such a small craft. Either way I guess there was no time to contemplate Male and his ability to get carried away with his creations. There were two floating joysticks that's served as the main controls of the squire, there was a big red button on top of their heads, and then there was a long metal band that curved out from it's side like a moon, or in this case, a trigger.

I pulled the trigger, just as I flew last on KFC the crafts of the 81st battalion, but the craft behind it got a full face of blue laser fire that it could not even withstand a 3 second barrage off as it exploded in a shower of fire and metal, illuminating the dark and gloomy grey clouds of the spatial area. My senses were at an all time high as o found myself flying deeper into the enemies formation, and since none of them were using crafts designed for off world combat, they were not as fast as me.

I twirled dodging a beam shot from one of the pulse cannons, which flew ahead and slammed into the flank of another craft. It shrugged off the hit, as they seemed to be quite resilient against their own attacks. There was a black shield over my squire, intercepting all of the laser fire sent my way. While I'm sure the Ionite shield would be able to defend against the pulse cannon, the energy consumption required for that would be heavy, and I might find myself falling out of the sky should I tank that hit.

These squires which after this battle was over I will be renaming dragonflies, were built for speed and power, not defense. In fact it's defense was really, really bad, and so was it's energy consumption. I was going to write a ten page review about this and send it back to Malek with a fuck you note attached to it and some ideas about how to improve it's capabilities and functions.

I frowned as i spread my awareness and noticed that I was actually being surrounded. Since their crafts were shaped like oranges, they wanted to encircle me in a massive globe like formation, trapping me in a ball while their bloody cannons that can shoot in any directions reduce me to slag and metal. Hell No!

*BOOM!*

"Die you fuckers!" I heard a familiar voice scream as a squire with a bright yellow paint job flew last me shooting wantonly at the members of the 81st battalion. She had punched a hole through their formation and was leading her squad in a straight formation of her own, like a curving bullet, blowing them to pieces of slag and metal.

"glad you could join the party Maxine." I said to her as I followed behind, raining death and destruction on the now scattered formation.

Xaseah had led her own squad around the perimeter of the battle itself. The squires were to fast to be a target for the 81st battalion, and with Xaseah picking them off one by one, the entire exchange ended on a rather anticlimactic note. All of a sudden there was a loud explosion, and the spatial storm became increasingly turbulent, so much so that the once stable looking grey clouds, became billowing waves of black lighting and perception altering sharp winds.

"They're launching heavy attacks into the spatial storm, if they do that they would be able to create enough disturbances to the spatial storm and cause irreparable damage to us. We will be wiped out!" someone yelled out in the squires communications channel.

"Maxine, Kael and Xaseah, you guys are to lead your squad ahead and stop them from causing anymore damage. The frigate would commence movement at an elevation until we get above the storm, buy us time and cause as much damage to the enemy as you can in the short time that we have." Asha ordered.

Looks like the situation had taken a turn for the worst, which means we all had to step up our game. I moved forward with full speed, breaking the sound barrier while Maxine and Xaseah followed behind me, in an inverted V formation with me at the lead, it was kind of like a flock of birds, but it served us well in this case. We drew closer to the edge of the spatial storm in mere seconds, and based on the radar the enemies were heavily clustered outsider of it, and right in front of us.

"all units fire Ionite EMP cannon!"

A surged of energy gathered from the tip of the squires tail, and went outwards towards its wings and body, before heading to it's head where a massive panel that looked like the speakers of a boom box was located. An intense black light gathered there, before it released with barely any sound, but rather a wide spread wave of black energy.

It has already been established that Ionite was the one material that was capable of wiping out any sort of energy or power, rendering it null and void. Now fashion such a terrible compound, capable of existing in all three states of matter, and now after an extensive research, the state of antimatter, energy.

We flew out of the storm, and just in time to see hundreds of ships fall from the sky into the unforgiven seal below, completely devoid of power. Obviously there was more than just the 81st battalion waiting here for us, but more than half the crafts lying in wait lost power and fell into the sea, and from the look of things, even the eject mechanism seems to have been affected. Hope those crafts of theirs was as airtight as it looked.

We spread out to the left and right, The exchanging fire with t he rest of the crafts that were unaffected. There were a couple of larger ships behind the crafts used by the human coalition. There were three of them, and though they weren't as big as Frigate, they had really huge and terrifying looking guns.

I banked left, dodging a shot from an Iron cannon as I fired back in response. Thankfully we've not lost a single one of our squires, and it was not just because they were fast, but rather because it seems like each craft was functioning with a buddy system. There was always someone watching another person's back, plus the pilots of the squires were at the pinnacle of physical perfection, their reactions and speed were off the charts.

We flew all over the place causing mayhem, until we noticed the three other much larger crafts aim their guns, however they were not aiming at us, but rather the frigate itself. Somehow rather than fly up like Asha had said they would, they had flown through the storm, and now only one half of it was out.

"Attention all units, the Spatial storm disturbances was more intense than we accounted for, so we had to go through it rather than above. However right now all of our power is being channeled into our rear shield, trying to prevent the spatial storm from ripping us to shreds and spreading said pieces amongst the cosmos. You have to stop those three enemy crafts from firing, or else the lives of everyone on board would be jeopardy." Asha's voice rang out through the communications channel.

I shot towards the three ships, but it was already to late as all three ships fired at the frigate, and the beams the fired combined together into one massive ball of destruction that was sure to end the lives of everyone on board the frigate. It was not just Asha that was on board, Cassie and Michael were also there, and I couldn't fly there in time....no.

*BOOOOM!*
