Shu Yidan opened his eyes, waking to gallons of misty yellow smoke. He breathed in twice in a strange rhythm, before blinking.

His eyes should never have opened, he should be dead. But here he was, alive.

When Shu Yidan tried to move, he realized his body seemed to have gone numb. Also, he was seeing heavenly beauties and hellish demons everywhere.

In a half-unconscious state, the only thing he knew was that he needed to get the fuck away from the yellow smoke. It was a drug that was 100x more potent than LSD and if he stood here for a moment longer, he would start tripping.

And if he started tripping…

His brain jolted by the horrifying possibility, he forced his body up from the bed he was resting on. Immediately standing up, he realized he couldn't see straight and couldn't sense his feet. Nevertheless, he had to move, move forward and get away from this drug smoke!

By sheer strength of will, he controlled his body. He started moving… by frantically hopping ahead on one leg.

While hopping, Shu Yidan felt like vomiting. He immediately started coughing and spitting, until finally a trail of smoky dust and spit flew, something that would have surprised any cultivator.

Which retarded wastrel would spit out Top-Grade Soul Refinement Incense and Red Dust Powder? They were top-grade cultivation medicines that even cultivators beyond Nascent Soul lusted for!

Shu Yidan didn't want to waste these top-level resources… But his predecessor had dissipated his soul with these drugs and he didn't want to follow that guy and suffer a fate worse than death either!

After around 10 minutes of hopping and vomiting, his mouth felt dry. At the same time, he felt that he had regained sensation over his feet and the world had stood still after having spun for an eternity. His five senses had returned!

Blinking a bit, he once again opened his eyes.

A small Chinese-style decorated room, that's where he found himself. Even though it appeared fairly modest, countless people would kill for this residence.

After all, this room was a cultivation cave that occupied the Azurewind Mountain Peak. A Foundation Establishment disciple would require numerous major merits to have the opportunity to cultivate here for even a day… the opportunity to breakthrough to Golden Core!

Yet, Shu Yidan was smoking drugs here. He had the status to do so: he was the True Disciple of the Heavenly Wind Sect's Sect Master!

The body he seized had a peak Golden Core cultivation realm and a peerless status. It should arguably easy mode for a transmigrator right? But Shu Yidan knew that it never was what it seemed like.

Looking at the familiar surroundings, he smiled. 'It seems I actually time-travelled?'

His predecessor's memories filled his mind. Some of them were vague and blurry, while some of them were outright missing. He had already gone through this when he transmigrated in the earlier timeline, so he wasn't too surprised.

Checking himself, he meditated a bit and realized that a trace of True Immortal-realm Spiritual Sense from his past life had carried over somehow. Using it, he scanned his entire body.

As expected, his dantian was still sealed and his meridians were still locked. His predecessor had somehow managed to cripple his cultivation in a unique way that even the Immortal Founder of the Heavenly Wind Sect couldn't make head or tails of. In his past life, he outright abandoned the Qi Cultivation system and switched to Totem cultivation and it seemed he would need to do the same this time around…

Thinking back, he had tried his best after transmigrating from Earth despite not even being a Chinese guy. Unfortunately, the soul damage his predecessor had sustained by snorting incense meant for Nascent Soul cultivators sent off his soul to dissipate and had rendered the him occupying it half a cripple.

For 250 years, he had to watch helplessly as geniuses after geniuses emerged and rose. By using his intelligence and the influence of his family, he succeeded the Sect Master position, becoming the Ninth Generation Sect Master of the Heavenly Wind Sect. He did manage to get a little bit of repo, leave a little legacy for the sect and be remembered as a martyr but that wasn't much…

Well, this time around, he scrammed away from the drug smoke so his soul damage might be a little lesser. That was a relief.

"Well then, I can't stand here like this. I have to get moving right now. After all, I have time-travelled!" Unenthusiastically, he cheered on himself.

Around a few hours from now, the Eighth Generation Sect Master's new personal disciple would meet him, introducing herself by kicking his ass six ways to Sunday.

As a peak Qi Condensation cultivator beating a peak Golden Core would be jumping two whole realms to do so. He would take a huge loss of face and she would gain huge rep.

Thinking of the Eighth Generation Sect Master, Shu Yidan felt a little irritated. His predecessor was a True Disciple for a decade and he had never availed his teachings, and all along he was personally guiding this little disciple of his!

But he felt more resentment because he never had a true chance to get acquainted with his fellow disciple and his master…

As for how he was the Sect Master's disciple without having ever met him, there were of course, circumstances behind this. The only remaining relative of his in this world was his grandpa who was a Spirit Transformation powerhouse Elder. His dead parents had rendered huge merits and as his only descendent, he was the one who received the benefits. By becoming the Sect Master's disciple, he had the chance of succeeding him.

Of course, that chance was only on paper. The most important benefit was huge, huge resources for cultivation. Taking them, even a pig could become a Golden Core pig. And like this, his drug-addict of a predecessor had become a Golden Core drug addict…

Honestly, getting his ass kicked by a cultivator two realms below him wouldn't change much. The Sect Master and the future Sect Master had a huge enough rep that beating a mob like him was only natural.

But of course, he wasn't a simple mob. No due to several incidents related to one person, he, the most unlikely person to succeed was the only disciple of the Sect Master alive and loyal to the sect… the only pawn capable of promoting to his rank…

Drug addict, resource-hogging pig and Ninth Generation Sect Master. Thinking of the three identities that defined him and set his life, he felt an unnerving sensation. It was similar to getting an insight into a Dao, through it sent chills through his spine.

[Want to know the meaning of life? Want to live… a real life?] An unfamiliar prompt appeared before his eyes.

Without even thinking, he replied 'Yes'!
