This scene took place in the blue sky. It was blue and covered all the one could see, the entirety of the Heavens. A vast abyss of blue, something that seemed alien to human eyes.

High above the ground, higher than even the clouds. Two men stared at each other.

"I heard tales of the madman of an assassin that the Immortal Shadow Alliance was harboring. Immortal Executioner… to think that you would come after me… Should I be honored or angered?" The man looked completely nondescript, seeming as if he could be a youth, yet he might have been mistaken for a middle aged man or even an elder. His hand upon his sword handle, he glared at the person facing him.

"…Blame your bad luck, that's all. So, let's see how the peerless techniques of the Spatial Skies Sect are, shall we?" With a mask covering his face and a cloak, Shu Yidan toothily grinned.

Shing – with the overlapping note of sword and blade being drawn in unison, the battle high up the skies began.

The man facing Shu Yidan struck out with his sword, and even with the distance separating them became meaningless as a rain of silver light attacked.

Yet the hail of swordlights flashed at Shu Yidan, were casually fended off with a wave of his blade. "Is that all you can do? I wanted to see the cool space techniques, not this half-baked swordsmanship!"

Shu Yidan waved his blade. The clouds surrounding them began to turn black and the air seemed to burn. An eight-colored light flashed for a blink – and the man facing Shu Yidan was cut in half.

"…Tricking me with an avatar?" Shu Yidan flicked a finger and an ancient jade-green turtleshell appeared, flickering with an eight colored light. The light covered the skies for a blink, and immediately, the white haired cultivator was revealed.

Behind him, a hole in space flashed, as if a dot on a white paper. Shu Yidan flicked his finger, and the dot vanished.

"Using the power of the eight elements to control space, calculating the coordinates to break apart the Spatial Veil spell I used and easily destroying the spatial teleportation coordinate I built in a blink… Well, there is only one sect that is capable of all that, isn't there?" The man glared at Shu Yidan.

"Heh, that's right." Saying this, Shu Yidan waved his hands and eight colored rainbow-like lights arose from the turtleshell to attack the man. The attacks hit nothing, the remnants of the man's shadow flickering away.

"Literally every True Immortal is capable of limited insight into past and future, and since every True Immortal is capable of teleportation, space-barring techniques are a necessity…" The man's voice resounded behind Shu Yidan, who instinctively attacked with a stream of spells.

"…As for the Eight Elemental control technique, it is the foundation for about a million sects. However, no True Immortal descending from such low level sects is capable of such peerless skill." The man's space control technique kept him unfazed in the rain of spells.

"…Space techniques are really too annoying." Ignoring the man's words, Shu Yidan continued on with his attacks.

"…It seems that you really don't give a damn about your Eight Trigrams Divine Sect and are hell-bent on killing me. What for?!" The man's annoyance in his tone amused Shu Yidan.

Shu Yidan licked his lips for a moment before simply stating. "Well, you have a good amount on your head – and your lifespan's gonna run out in a thousand years or so. You are gonna reincarnate anyway, so I thought I might as well send you to the Samsara earlier."

Even True Immortals had limited lifespans – the limit was 10,24,000 years. The cultivator had to breakthrough to the realm even beyond for a chance of life extension – and the difficulty in breaking through to this realm was harder than Immortal Ascension.

And Immortal Ascension was hard, period.

The man frowned. "That's right. A century of life isn't too much, but damn, you aren't allowed to take it from me – I'll fight tooth and nail for every breath that remains.

But still, a cultivator of the Eight Trigram Divine Sect has turned to assassination to keep up with resources? The world has come to a state where even the Four Divinities have to struggle for resources, huh?"

Shu Yidan only glared at the man. "Anyway, your annoying space tricks have been a pain in the ass… You are the 28th and the last Immortal on my list, and your fleeing skills are quite unrivalled. Setting up measures so that you don't fucking teleport away to another world was hard."

"Huh, the technique you used to block the Extreme Limitless Spatial Transmission Technique is quite something. Too bad it only stops me from a ultra-long distance teleportation…" The man kept on speaking, but Shu Yidan only waved his fingers and a rain of spells fell upon the man.

Seeing the multicolored light fall, the man only smirked and flicked his finger. Nothing happened. Black lines appeared on his forehead as he flicked his finger, yet still nothing happened. Finally, a third eye flashed upon his forehead and a azure light flashed, causing Shu Yidan's attack to dissipate.

Shu Yidan only attacked again.

The azure light flashed from the man's forehead four more times, after which came time to use up talismans. About a thousand talismans were torn in a minute, and after ten minutes the supply of talismans ran out. Finally came the treasures – flying swords, all sorts of weapons, alchemy cauldrons, books, even teapots… and all of them were smashed to pieces as soon as they came out.

The ancient green turtleshell flashed and spells rained down. There was no need was talismans, no need for totems and no need for anything else – with this treasure, wouldn't it be wasteful to not use spells?

Finally, the man couldn't pull out anything more – he had ran out of things to use.

"You bastard – you actually sealed the heavens… you, you literally sealed the heavens didn't you? Only something on that level can seal away my ability to control space… Not many people have the guts to go against heaven like you. Well done." The man glared at Shu Yidan.

"So, are you gonna kill yourself or should I do the honors?" Shu Yidan didn't pay attention to the man's chatter.

"Of course, I'll kill myself. But… Why don't you accompany me to Samsara?" The man glared at Shu Yidan viciously.

Shu Yidan knew that he should have disabled the majority of the man's offensive techniques, but he still felt an ominous shiver run down his spine.

Without thinking, he immediately began chanting.

[Outsider Of Astral Conjunction, Demon Beyond The Heavens! As the Five Planets are in revolution, I call upon thou, sealed by the Human Order, imprisoned within…-]

At the meantime, another spell could be heard. It wasn't audible to ears, but his Divine Sense was nearly deafened by the chant resounding… [Space burn. Time burn. Everything between, burn. Everything beyond, burn…]

In a blink of an eye, the chants completed.

In the next moment, the world burned. The white hot fire flashed like a star in death, a supernova. A black hole appeared, swallowing everything before disappearing.

Finally, there was only the man.

Then, Shu Yidan appeared beside him.

"How extravagant. Now, are you willing to die yet?"

"Well, forgive me for thinking that a reality-burning attack would be enough to kill you. By the way, was that the power of the Outsider of the Astral Conjunction – Rahu?" The man seemed as calm as ever.

"As you've seen." Shu Yidan only replied.

"Well then. I am willing to kill myself and enter Samsara. When will you be going, yourself?" The man asked him with a piercing gaze.

"…After I've put my affairs in order." Shu Yidan's sentence got the man to sigh.

"Your body has experienced only 12,500 years in total. That's far too short.

But that's what you get – daring to go against Heaven, daring to expose yourself to the Demon who is fated to end the reign of Humanity. Even as a Vessel of Rahu, I am glad that you have the will to exterminate the possibility of humanity's end." Hearing this, Shu Yidan could feel the weight of eons in the man, no, the immortal's words.

"Go off and enter Samsara already. You burnt 70% of your soul in that attack, so don't expect to return back either." Hearing Shu Yidan's words, the man sighed, before swaying his hands.

The body of the man burnt. Immortal aura surged into the air as his soul returned to the Path of Reincarnation.

The Immortal of the Spatial Skies Sect was no more.

+++

Some time passed, a few centuries. Staring at the splendidly cast array before him, Shu Yidan was finally satisfied.

The treasure that was the ancient green turtleshell was right beside him, floating and moving around.

Shu Yidan sighed before thinking back to the man's actions. "He really didn't want to die, huh? But he didn't mind dying either."

That's the way it was. Immortals seeked immortality for a reason. If not eternal life, there was the simple desire to not die.

Shu Yidan didn't want to die either. But he had to die. Because he had dared to go against Heaven, he was marked as the Vessel of Rahu. If he dared to keep on living like this, the body of his would have a soul reincarnate within.

Rahu's Will - A soul that wasn't his own, a soul that desired the extermination of humanity.

Naturally, facing this fate worse than death, Shu Yidan didn't have any option other than dying and reincarnating.

But reincarnating had risks of its own.

Rahu's Will could follow him, shattering his will and wresting away his spirit and body, the body he would reincarnate into could overwhelm his will and wrest away his spirit and body, his will might not even awaken and he would die as a soul stuck onto a mortal body, he might not even seize a body and die to lightning or something…

In the path of reincarnation, there were some things that had to be kept no matter what. More than the memories, more than the comprehension of the Dao, more than the part of his True Immortal Divine Sense…

It was will. The part that was him, that was Shu Yidan. The guy who was a part of Modern Earth, who transmigrated to the world of cultivation.

The self, the ego, the consciousness. Everything else could go, yet it had to stay.

"I've killed 28 True Immortals, all for getting a path to survive. After this reincarnation, these wouldn't be a past life and there wouldn't be a future life – they would be one and the same. Even if there isn't any memories, comprehension or True Immortal Divine Sense passing through, it doesn't matter.

Because the most important thing is me! The me that ascended to True Immortal once, can certainly do it again!" As if to encourage himself, Shu Yidan said out loud.

"I won't be content with a short life, I'll live until eternity ends! I'll live long enough to be the scourge of Earth and bear the ire of Heaven!

A long life, a immortal life, a eternal life!

Keep on living, keep on living, keep on living!" With his tone growing even frenzied, Shu Yidan wryly smiled.

"…After everything, why do I have to die…?" His tone was a bit regretful. In the end, there would always be regret facing death.

High up in the skies, the sounds of thunder resounded. It was the omen of heaven's wrath.
