Chapter 19: Attolis (1)

The two apprentices following him behind looked at Red Leaf with a stunned look as they rode pass them. Their bodies shook and swayed back and forth time to time. They’d never seen anything like it.

“I’ve casted the visions I have for this dukedom… laying it all out since I was five years of age. I’m truly touched by the sight of it all and how it’s grown in these five years. I don’t know what the future will hold. I don’t know what the mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas will look like but I’m sure it’ll be beautiful.” Kailar crossed the inner and outer parts of Red Leaf and into the capital city. Examining the various changes occurring within the dukedom, he found himself indescribably giddy with happiness.

His greatest pursuit was to engrave his name in the annals of history. Kailar wished to know the marks he’d leave behind, the tales the people would spread, the legends that’d be told generations after generations. He wanted to know what he would become but most of all, he wanted to know how far he could spread his strength and influence.

The modern folks would surely find such ideas as shallow and superficial.

But nevertheless, Kailar didn’t place much thought into it. They’d never know.

He found it an interesting thing to leave one’s marks behind for history to remember.

Would he leave behind a piece of his thoughts on a written scroll for the future generations to break apart and examine?

Would he be pegged as the greater historical figure?

Many of these things Kailar found interesting hence why it could only be regarded as superficial.

Though truthfully, he’d no care for fame nor prestige and status. If he hadn’t a mother and father who cared for him dearly with such tender care, he’s sure he’d end up like Merlin who’d stand beside the king whilst overlooking the world in silence.

The trio rode back directly towards Kailar’s manor estate. Thereafter, the apprentices dismounted their horse and allowed the servants to take care of the horse as they dragged them into the stable. The apprentice looked at the hybrid horses in silence before quickly shaking their head as they followed Kailar.

“Why did you get off?” Kailar asked.

“Eh? Aren’t we already here?” Gawain replied a little too excited. After all, this little monster was his cousin.

“I didn’t say to get off here.” Kailar shook his head and laughed. “Forget it. It’s fine. Come with me.” Kailar jumped off the unicorn and moved towards a certain direction.

Women dressed in maid clothing greeted their master with a deep bow. They loved this little gentleman who brought onto them a nice and comfortable life.

At first, Sibo’s wolfish eyes had lusted over Kailar’s beautiful maids but after so many years of being by his master’s side, he quickly pushed away the immoral thoughts into the back of his mind.

What Sibo only thought of was loyalty. Everything else was of second nature.

It was because of this master of his that he was able to live comfortably. He had a wife, gave his loving wife a boy and a girl, and managed the income of Kailar’s earnings.

Sibo had it good.

He even lived next door from his master’s estate.

Just outside the manor estate was a large military sized field. It was broad in size, about four hundred meters wide. Inside the field was a ring-shaped pavement. Around the circle, ravine grapes coiled all around the rack.

Heading towards the shelves hiding underneath the ravine grapes, Kailar turned to face Gawain and the other golden blonde haired apprentice. “Grab a weapon. You will compare your skills with each other. It’ll let me know of your current skills.”

Gawain’s eyes bulged. He quickly rummaged through the stacks of weapons excitedly. Many of the weapons on the shelves were types he’d never seen before and simply looking at it had his blood boiling.

“Cousin, what is this?” Gawain picked up a mace which looked powerful yet too big for him to handle.

“That is exclusive use for the infantry. Use this instead.” Kailar pointed to the sword catered for knights.

“Ah… I see.” Gawain sighed disappointedly upon hearing the mace was an exclusive use for the infantry.

Traditionally speaking, the people of Camelot did not think highly of the infantry and discriminated against them. The old generation had even instilled their discriminatory thoughts to their children regarding their view towards the infantry.

“…..” The other blonde apprentice who hadn’t spoken much from the beginning silently walked over to the shelves and grabbed the knightly sword and swung it back and forth thereafter.

Kailar began to take notice of the difference between the two apprentice’s temperance, behavior, and personality.

“What’s your name?” Kailar asked.
