Chapter 005: Healing Magic

“Merlin?!” Kailar recited the name of the shapely figure while his eyes and nerves haven’t relaxed at all, his eyes full of vigilance. “How did you get up here?”

“Didn’t I say it? I’m a magician.” The other party smiled slyly, the uneasiness of Kailar’s wary attitude annoyed her somewhat.

“I’m asking you very seriously.” His voice was calm, dull even but those who knew him fairly well knew that the tone used was a harbinger of his rising anger.

“Well, I’m quite sure I answered your question. Though truth be told, while passing through Nottingham Forest above the azure, I found this secluded area. Quite curious, I chose to stay and remained here a few short days awaiting your arrival. You’re a strange little fellow. Anyway, is this enough?” She replied, a slight touch of scorn in her tone.

Any person of rationale who lived in this world would be furious seeing such perfunctory demeanor.

Kailar remained silent for a short while, pondering over the matter. He surmised the possibility of the existence of paragliding and the invention of the hot air balloon in this world.

But to fly with the use of magic? Impossible!

Amazed by the child’s silence, the woman puffed her chest. “Gee… seems you’re not all to surprised nor do I see a tinge of anger clouding you. Which means you must know of me. Do you know me? No… that’s not right. You hadn’t blinked upon hearing my name. It was your first time for sure yet you know everything about flight… surely you’ve met someone like me!”

She was punctually excited and the more she roused her expression of delight, the more Kailar heard of her native tongue slipping through.

In this world, wheelbarrows, horseshoes, plated armors, and swords were all made of ordinary iron or copper material but…

The degree of scientific understanding in this world shouldn’t be too high, he thought.

And because the level of scientific understanding in this world was of low quality, the education was nowhere near primary grade level. Farmers who understood the vastness of the world could already be considered cultured and literate.

Yet for this woman in front him to display such sophisticated verbose language and thoughts, Kailar was sure she had a high IQ. It was absolutely not low!

That’s right. He’d forgotten one mere fact. That is that no matter where the people lived, no matter the century or dynasty, no matter their popularity, no matter the legend, the only place where the most profound intellectuals gathered was the court.

If the average person with low IQ entered the court brimming with scholars and intellectuals, they’d soon commit suicide. If they hadn’t yet, they’d die without knowing how.

Kailar doesn’t know of Merlin’s identity and would naturally not know where she came from.

“Tell me, do you know of me?” Merlin asked, her eyes twinkling. Her bosom trembled with great excitement as she moved slightly forward.

Rather than paying attention to the magnificence laid before him, Kailar looked at her eyes and spoke calmly. “I do not know but you have to show me to know if you’re telling the truth. Since you say you’re a magician, let me take a look at your magic.”

“This little fellow…” Merlin scoffed. “Farewell, I’ll let you take a look!” The shapely figure waved her hand gently. Suddenly, a green circular pattern appeared around her feet. Soon a gust of wind flew and she slowly rose in the air. Though she wasn’t flying, she floated in the air with gusto.

Kailar’s brows furrowed, unsure whether the other party in question flew in the air or was merely floating. On the other hand, Merlin’s lips parted looking at the child’s horrifying composure.

He was simply a little monster, incomparably calm since the beginning of their encounter and now revealing a rather demented expression. How he managed to do so was well beyond her thinking.

Merlin sighed, in a rather great mood. She wanted to tease him more, wondering the sort of expression he would have on his face seeing her high in the air.

Just that, this wasn’t the sort of expression she wished to see.

Thinking of this, Merlin almost lost her balance.

“How’s that? I’m a great magician.” She boasted.

“Tch.” Kailar turned his head, unwilling to admit defeat and unable to refute her statement. He could only mouth words of disdain.

Though deep within his heart was a rising turbulent storm that hadn’t shown on his calm face. His mind was whirling about in a sea of confusion.

Magic! It’s magic! They exist!

If all he knew of this world had been thrown away, then what is the meaning of living?

What is the meaning of all this?

What is the meaning of all the plans he built?

Everything he knew, everything he had planned destroyed just like this?

But wait… that’s wrong…

A brief second of thought flashed through his mind. Guessing that the other party was alone without a partner, Kailar’s killing aura rose.

But this isn’t enough!

I should test her out and then make the final move.

“Impossible! How is this possible? This kind of thing is too unrealistic. It can’t be real!” Kailar mouthed words of shock as he roamed his hands through his hair looking as if he was going to pull it out.

“Have you never seen a magician who can fly?! Why are you yelling now?!” Merlin lost her composure and spoke irritatedly, her voice rising by the second. Though she was only a woman, god could she scream that it scratched Kailar’s eardrums. He had no choice but to cover both ears.

“Who knew you could fly like this!” Kailar cried.

“Oh? Are you going to fly?” Merlin stopped her movement before proceeding to rest the palm of her hand on her chin as she faced Kailar with great interest. “Little boy, not only did you invent a new type of carriage, no one would have thought of creating the rising and falling basket out there. And then there’s this weird writing! You’re quite the little devil.”

Suddenly, the corners of her mouth revealed a sly cunning smile. “Little devil, do you want to learn magic?”

“Eh? You’re willing to teach me?” Kailar was amazed. If he had magic, he’d surely be able to use it at the most critical moment. For example, to save a life, he’ll surely need the use of magic. But this woman’s intelligence is quite sloppy. Is she even willing to teach magic to serial killers if need be?

“Well, I’ve been wanting to pass down my knowledge. It’s just that they’re too stupid. They can’t learn. If they could, it would really be nice to have a nice and talented disciple.”

Kailar wasn’t sure if the other party was tempting him and such bluntly refused. “I refuse. I don’t want blood on my hands. You can find another person.”

Merlin’s brows tightened, rather curious but she didn’t dwell further. “Hmm… if you’re not willing to learn offensive magic, how about the magic to guard and heal?”

Kailar shut his eyes and fell into a state of meditation.
