After reluctantly parting with her son, Su Lian walks into a towering, glass building.
The word 'INFINITY' is plastered in front in large, beautifully carved, block letters.
The building is the headquarters of Chris' company, Infinity Corp. They are involved in almost every industry; electronics, real estate, food, fashion, skincare, jewelry, and several others. They have branches in twenty different countries.
Although Chris owns the company, he made Su Lian the Managing Director, as a result, she held a lot of influence. Many people had even started to wonder if Chris would pass his shares on to her. Chris had inherited the company from his father and did not have any children to inherit it after him, but he owned seventy-one percent of the company's shares. People had noticed how he treated Su Lian like his own daughter so they began to make assumptions that the shares will be passed on to her. As a result of these speculations, no one dares to cross her.
Initially, all the members of the board had disagreed with Chris on his decision to place a twenty-one-year woman in the highest position of the company, but over the past three years that she has worked as the Managing Director, she has done extremely well.
In the boardroom, fourteen people are sitting around a very large table with grim expressions on their faces.
Jim Silva, the President of the Infinity Corp branch in China had embezzled billions of dollars into an offshore account. Although he has been caught, and the money returned, there is still a lot of panic and unrest. Investors are pulling out and employees that fear for their jobs have gone off to seek employment elsewhere. The whole branch in China is simply a mess and the company is suffering significant losses because of this.
"Damn that Silva. What an ingrate." a board member slams his fist in anger.
"Now is not the time for frustration or complaint. We are here to think of a quick and effective solution."
"I agree, the branch in China is our third largest, it will be very detrimental to lose it."
The board members plunder into a deep discussion while Su Lian sits by the side and listens quietly.
She has been very busy with new development projects so she hasn't been paying attention to the international branches.
She was quite shocked. Although she knew that Jim Silva had embezzled money, she didn't think that the repercussion would be this great.
They needed a new President to head the China branch and put things back in order, but there was simply not enough time to find someone who was trustworthy and could manage that sort of position.
After what Silva had done, they would be fools to send just anyone.
After a long debate, they agreed to elect a new President from among themselves and send them to take on the position temporarily.
"We need to re-organize and cleanse that branch. We can only send a person who is highly competent."
"Any volunteers?"

Although it sounded nice to say, who would actually want to drop everything to head a branch in a foreign country?
Most of these board members are just investors, they have no real management experience.
"Fine, any nominations then?"
