The phone rang for a while but no one picked up.
Han Lili grew anxious.
Finally, after a long wait, his cold voice sounded from the other end of the line.
"What is it?"
If it was another day, Han Lili would have started a fight with him for being so rude, but she has no time for any of that today.
"Yuan, you- your ex... were the two of you... did the two of you ever have um... have you slept together?"
Beep ---
He hung up.
"Hello, hello."
Han Lili tried calling again, but he didn't answer.
"Son of a b*tch." She tossed her phone away in annoyance and raked her fingers through her hair.
She is about 90% sure that the child is his but she has no way to confirm it.
She can't just ask Su Lian who the father of her child is.
Taking a deep breath, she walks out of the washroom and sees the mother and son sitting on the couch.
"Um, Lian can I use your phone, mine isn't working right now and I need to make an emergency call?"
"Yeah, you can use the home phone over there." Su Lian says while pointing to the landline on the kitchen counter.
Han Lili takes the phone and goes into the hallway.
She calls Han Yuan again, but this time he answers immediately because it's an unknown number.
"Who is this?"
"Yuan, what's your ex-girlfriend's name? Does she live in our city?"
"Don't ask me stupid questions."
"Just listen, it's important. Is her name Su Lian?"
Han Yuan's voice becomes dangerous. "I thought I told you not to investigate her."
"I didn't, I swear. Come to Kim Xia's concert tonight. Make sure you text me when you get there."
"Why would I come to-"
"Just do it all right." Han Lili hangs up the phone and goes back out to meet her 'sister-in-law' and Su Yichen.
She hasn't been this happy in a very long time.
She just found out that she has a nephew.
She can take him shopping at the mall and they can go to the museum, or travel to a different country... they can go anywhere. Just thinking about it makes her so excited.
"I'm ready, sorry for the wait." She flashes a smile at her new 'family members' and head off to the concert.

Han Yuan sitting in his office has a dark expression on his face.
How the hell did Han Lili find out about Su Lian?
He hasn't told anyone because he doesn't want them digging into her life. He's worried.
He does not know how his parents will react if they find out that the woman he wants to make his wife already has a son.
"Deng Xiao." Han Yuan called and his assistant hesitantly walked in.
There has been a lot of tension among Han Yuan's personal staff. Especially the information team. People were being interrogated and tortured. Almost half of the staff has been fired.
He is trying to find out who was blocking the investigation on Su Lian. He has found the pawns, but still can't figure out who the mastermind is.
Since he came in this morning, anyone who walked into the office came out with an expression of either fear, panic or sorrow.
Deng Xiao wanted to cry. 'Why am I being called? Am I next?'
"Get me a ticket to see Kim Xia's concert tonight." Han Yuan instructed him and went back to doing his work.
He needs to go and warn his sister to not bring up Su Lian in front of their parents.
He'll tell them when he's ready.
