--- Section III, Abandoned Mines ---

"Hey, everything okay now?" Jay asked since he panicked the moment Abby asked for help. Jay thought that she accidentally entered the steel gate and encountered a lord-ranked monster.

"No worries. It's all fine now. It's just a cute little fella hugging Abby." Bloody Harvest said as he laughed since he was the one who helped Abby out of her situation.

"Oh. Okay." After Jay was assured that nothing wrong happened, he moved deeper into the abandoned mines.

...

After walking for a while, Jay arrived in a place that looked like an office. A stone desk, a stone chair, some tattered papers and books scattered around, and of course, Azurite Crystals.

There was also a skeleton of a human-looking creature sitting on the stone chair. The only difference was that the skull was just like a rat's skull.

"Ratmen. So they were the ones who owns the mines. But why exactly did they abandon it?" Jay thought to himself as he pushed the skeleton away from the stone chair and looked for a button under the stone desk.

~Rumble...

A rumbling sound was suddenly heard as the floor of the room suddenly sank down, together with the rest of the objects in the room. It was just like an elevator.

While the 'elevator' was moving, Jay took out Night Sky from the storage orb and went into the partial transformation state of the Chicken form.

...

Somewhere deep within Section III...

~Rumble, rumble...

The 'elevator' finally stopped and Jay found himself in a very dark room. It was so dark that even with all of the Azurite Crystals scattered around, the place was still not illuminated in any way.

But after a few seconds later, a bluish liquid flowed out from the stone desk and got circulated around the room as it passed through the small cracks of the walls and floor.

When the room was finally lit up, Jay saw that there were 4 gigantic doors on each side of the large room. As for the one in front of him, it was even chained up and had a magicka seal on it.

"Don't want to mess with that door unless I want that mythic-ranked monster to be free." Jay thought to himself and ignored the sealed gigantic door in front of him and went to the one on his left.

"If I remember correctly, these are the giant vaults the ratmen built. One of them is some kind of emergency shelter, one contains an uncountable amount of Azurite Crystals, and one of them has a cursed item sealed within." After remembering this piece of information, Jay opened up the large door in front of him by using Night Sky to chop off the large doorknob.

The moment Jay did that, the door was suddenly pushed from the inside while Azurite Crystals suddenly flowed out from the room.

"Crap. Wrong move." Jay told himself since if this will go on, due to the sheer amount of Azurite Crystals, the whole place might be flooded with Azurite Crystals in a short few seconds. Since that was the case, Jay hoped for the best and stored all of it within the Storage Orb. Jay knew that the mind room was a bit weird since it was made up with different systems created by different Fatelords, so he really hoped that the Storage Orb was as godly as he thought it would be and can store an infinite amount of items.

...

After an hour later...

"Holy s**t. It feels as if I just robbed a whole kingdom's treasury." Jay said to himself as he collected the last piece of Azurite Crystal from the room he opened a while ago. There were just so much of the stuff that he had to temporarily use the silver storage rings to store his important items. He also finally realized that he still had the silver storage ring that Prince Frederick gave him, the one that contained the items from WIldergreene's treasury.

"Oh. I forgot about this baby." Jay chuckled and moved to the gigantic door at his back and did the same thing to open it. But this time, instead of Azurite Crystals immediately flooding the place, a nasty smell filled the air. It was the smell of rotting corpses.

'Lunar Wind Armor!'

Jay immediately used the skill because the moment the nasty smell entered his nose, he immediately wanted to puke since it was just too disgusting. By using this skill, Jay created a wind barrier around him that prevented the nasty smell to approach him.

After regaining his senses, Jay peeked into the room he just opened and was a bit horrified with what he saw. Ratmen. Some of them were corpses, some ate the corpses of their fellowmen, and some was lying down, praying to their Rat God.

"Huh?"

One of the ratmen who was still alive and kicking saw Jay and immediately begged for mercy.

"Mercy my lord! Mercy!"

Jay wanted to speak up but it was just too smelly so he moved the Lunar Wind Armor around to remove the smell from the room before he spoke up.

"What happened here?" Jay immediately asked the Ratman who begged for mercy.

But the ratman just shivered in fear. As for those who were cannibalizing the corpses of their fellow ratmen, they stopped doing so and suddenly showed hostility towards Jay and spoke up. Their voices sounded like an old man trying his best to speak in a high pitch.

"Don't play dumb with us."

"We were just doing our work!"

"Why didn't you save us!"

The ratmen complained.

"This is really weird. No one posted about this on the gaming forums before..." Jay thought to himself as he looked at the 5 ratmen survivors in front of him. He did not know the story behind the ratmen and was really curious so he decided to hear them out and showed his sincerity to them by transforming back into his human form and stored Night Sky inside one of the silver storage rings he had.

...

"My lord, as you can see, most of us are already dead and only the five of us are alive. Do you know how long we cooped up in this room just to hide from your people? Just to hide from the monsters that invaded our home afterwards? DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT WAS SINCE WE BREATHED THE FRESH AIR???" The Ratman named Judy said before suddenly shouting and crying.

"My lord, forgive her for her ill-temper. Its not our fault that it has been thousands of years already. We only managed to survive by... I believe you saw how." The Ratman named Joe said remorsefully.

"Don't worry about it. (Damn. I forgot to bring food items.)" Jay said and thought to himself.

"Why don't you start from the beginning and tell me the events that happened until the present time. But tell me all of that some other time." Jay said since he saw that the Ratmen were really scared, confused, and exhausted.

"My lord, there is no other time. We have delayed our death for a long time now. And the moment you opened the door to our secret base, I am sure that the 'monster' our masters locked up woke up." The Ratman named Joel said before he also started shedding some tears.

"Nope, you are wrong. The moment you saw me enter that door, you just gained a chance of a new life." Jay said seriously and acted to be some kind of high and mighty lord.

"I am offering you a choice. Stay here and do what you've wanted to do, or follow me back into the surface and live a new life. Work under me and I will provide you everything you need to live. Food, water, clothes, and shelter." Jay said as he looked directly at the five Ratmen in front of him.

The moment the ratmen heard this, they were touched by how benevolent Jay was and agreed to work for him. Only those not in their right minds would reject an offer this good.

"Alright. Go to the stone elevator you guys made while I pick up the last item in this place." Jay said before leaving the room and heading towards the last normal looking giant door.

...

Jay opened the door the same way as he did with the other two doors, and what awaited him inside the room was a gigantic battleaxe. The handle of the battleaxe was made out of a steel-like material and had a dark-gray color. There were also black-colored vines that entangled it. As for the blade of the battleaxe, it was shaped like a demon's wings. The inner part of the blade was reddish in color and had a feathery design on it, while the outer part of the blade had a black-golden color to it.

The moment Jay approached the gigantic battleaxe, a strong and devilish killing intent surrounded him.

"If I remember correctly, this is the weapon that the mythic-ranked monster uses. Just how the hell did those ratmen steal it away and seal it in a different room?" Jay thought to himself as he stored the gigantic battleaxe in the storage orb.

"Too lazy to check its stats now. I'm gonna do that later."

After this line of thought and after a final glance at the sealed gigantic door that contained the mythic-ranked monster, Jay reactivated the stone elevator. Of course, together with him was the five ratmen he just recruited.
