Xing moved to the Rui Wang Manor and only after moving there did she realise that Chenglei is her neighbour and she was pretty sure he was the one who forced the Emperor to let her stay here. She wondered what he might be planning and ended up smiling as Chenglei started visiting her often. He won't use the door of her Manor but he'll jump over the wall to enter her Manor and it reminded her of how he used to do this back when she lived in her father's manor too.

Huang AoTian was healed entirely and returned to his office. He told the public that he felt the need for a vacation and that's why he disappeared for some days since Xing asked him not to reveal he is healed so as not to alert the ones who poisoned him.

Rijun was happy that his father became bright after his short vacation and started taking care of his duties as usual and after that he started to observe the happenings in his home. He was surprised to learn that Xu mama didn't leave on her own accord and he found out an important detail...

His wife is having contact with her brother behind his back!

He had forbidden her to contact her brother after the incident on his wedding day and she complied to it for some time and apparently in the recent times they have resumed contact via letters.

Is it odd that the time period coincided with his father's sickness?

When confronted, She apologised saying she felt so alone in his place with no relatives and so she decided to contact her brother and she promised him that she never talked about anything important with her brother.

Seeing her so apologetic about contacting her brother, he decided to give her the benefit of doubt. She is his wife and the mother of their child afterall! He also felt guilty that he never spent any quality time with her as he was overwhelmed with his work and felt the need to give her a chance. He believed that his wife doesn't have the capability to hurt another human being much less his father.

Rijun made Takano promise that she won't contact her brother again and she promised.

That morning Xing was doing the accounts of her lands in the Eastern Province. Her lands have been giving the best yield these past years and she was careful to cultivate different pulses from others and that always gave her a good profit too.

The people celebrated the festivals for the gods without fail and the seasons changed as it should, with apt rain, making the farmers happy. Xing's place was mostly filled with the tribals who entered after the war and by her constant observation, the people have integrated pretty well with their kingdom. They were paid exactly the same as the other people in their kingdom and their quality of life in their kingdom improved and they were all thankful for the mysterious owner of their lands.

She read a letter complaining that, Recently Lord Chu tried to visit those parts with the assumption that he'd be allowed to by the people who he considered fools and illiterates who didn't know any better but was driven off like the dog he is by the people there. Apparently he tried to take credit for the recent prosperity in the Eastern regions and tried to collect taxes on behalf of the Empress. Little did he know that the original owner of these lands has arranged for night classes for these people who work in the fields in the mornings and teach them to read and write and also the laws of the lands.

Lord Chu needs to be handled!

Xing was sitting on the floor covered with high quality carpet, with the low table on front of her sprawled with various memorials and account books and she didn't notice the sudden arrival of the silver haired man who's her neighbour.

"What's stressing you?", He asked pouring her some warm water to drink and sat beside her with no hesitation whatsoever.

"Lord Li", Xing smiled and accepted the water, "Aren't you going to the palace today?"

From what Xing's gathered information about Chenglei, he was said to spend most of his time in the palace and he rarely gets to his Manor. But why do these days it feels like he is slacking off here all the time?

"I delegated", Chenglei answered causally stretching himself and and leaned on the small armrest they had. "Am I not welcome here?", he asked with his tone a bit sullen.

Isn't she happy I'm here? I used to spend most time in the palace because I had nothing interesting going on outside before ... Now that she is here I want to spend my time with her... What's wrong with that?

" Never! You can visit anytime you want", Xing said immediately. Stay here all the time, I don't mind! I'll never be tired to see that handsome face of yours, My Prince!

"Should I ask to bring snacks for you? I'll have to finish the accounts right now", she looked at her man who was reading a missive he brought himself.

"No need", he spoke rather lazily as he was leaning casually. Xing has to admit, the sight of him leisurely lounging... She could watch him for the rest of her life... But.... First things first...

As usual Xing forgot everything around her while finishing her work and only when she completed all her work did she felt the hot gaze on her. Xing didn't lift her eyes to look at his face but she could feel his wolf eyes on her. She didn't have to read his mind to guess what he is thinking and she let him think whatever he wants...

If there is anyone in this world who is allowed to leer at her with lusty eyes it will be him. She does the same to him too so she doesn't have a say in this issue.

As she was cleaning up her table she felt him moving closer to her and he leaned towards her and Xing froze by his breath falling in her neck. But he looked like he didn't care and picked up her finished book and turned it page by page.

"You have an amazing handwriting", he said, "I've never seen anyone copy the Tianshi Emperor's writing as well as you! And... You are good at accounting... You surprise me, Miss Táng", he placed the book back and that's when he noticed the sadness in her eyes.

She usually has bright eyes and at times her eyes just loses the lustre. Is that when she remembers the one in her heart? Is she thinking about him now?

He didn't like that at all!

Xing was in fact thinking about the one in her heart.... On how if everything went well, if the gods didn't meddle, if he didn't make a deal, she and Chenglei would be married by now and then he'd be by her side like this too but they would be talking different topics, not about her handwriting or her accounting skills which he already knew...

"Are you married, Miss Táng?", his voice by her ear snapped Xing out of her thoughts and she turned to look at him,now sitting too close to her and there were only inches between their faces.

"No, why?", she asked with a smile . What's with his sudden questioning? But... Am I married? I am, right? Considering that we've already consummated our relationship and by what the god of marriage explained....? But 'No' should be the apt answer for this situation.

"It's that... You are Old...", he wanted to ask her about the one in her heart and wondered how to ask her about it and if it would be proper and ended up unknowingly saying the one thing you are not supposed to tell a woman, making all her excitement dwindle.

" I'm younger than you... What are you? Forty? Why aren't you married yet?", Xing was mad and pushed him away with her hands and he got snapped out of his deep thoughts...

"That's not what I meant", he grabbed her hands pushing on his chest, "Wait... Did you say that I am forty? I'm just twenty seven... How could you?"he felt wronged.

"Well, you look forty, old man!", Xing twisted her hand out if his grip and tried to get up. Her chest was heaving up and down with anger.

Whose fault is that she is still unmarried? If only he didn't forget her!

"I'm not... Wait...", he tried to stop her from getting up and tried to grab her when she slipped and fell on the carpeted floor and he tried to catch her head that was about to hit the ground and ended up pinning her on the floor between him and the carpet.

" Get up! ", Xing who was still pouting tried to push him away but he seemed to be very much enjoying their current position evident by the content smile in his face.

"What's the hurry", he smirked and fixed her bangs that were on her forehead with great care.

The moment his fingertips touched her forehead Xing felt a sharp sensation that passed through her entire body and she just laid under him biting her lower lip. She liked his touch.

Time seemed to have frozen for the both of them looking at each other in that amorous position and Xing could feel him closing the distance between both their lips as he moved closer to her lips.

His warm breath fell on her face making her feel hot and his eyes were filled with lust and his breathing got heavy as he approached her. Xing wanted to be kissed by him as much as he wanted to kiss her.

But he paused as there was just an inch between their lips as if he wanted her approval. Xing raised her head and her soft lips ended in his lips and then he bent down and kissed her deeply with their entire body tangled with each other.

"What's in your heart, woman?", he asked trailing his kiss on her cheek towards her ears. If this woman has someone else in her heart, how come she kisses me like this?

"My heart...Only has you!", she whispered holding the back of his head as she melted by the brief gentle kisses he trailed on her cheek as it moved to her neck.

"Me?", he paused. "How come me?", he looked at her wide-eyed pausing his kissing. How is this possible?

"My sweet Prince... My love, my heart! My heart always belongs to you!", she held his cheeks that were slightly blushed, "Even though you forgot", she kissed him.

Chenglei got what she was saying as he rested his head in her chest and laid beside her.

"Me too... I Iove you!", he wanted to tell her but somehow his mouth wouldn't move. He felt his heart filled with happiness but as moments passed, he felt like the fullness he felt by her confession reducing as if someone poked a hole in his heart draining it... Draining all his happiness, leaving only emptiness...

He excused himself without even replying her. When he looked at her, for some odd reason he felt... nothing...

As he looked at her he even forgot what she said moments ago...

His mind felt like it was wiped clean. His heart felt like he lost something pretty important... What did I lose?

Xing looked at his expression changing and she knew... She could feel his emotions changing... Why?

Xing got to her feet and held her heart... It hurt...

Even my confession is doing nothing to change his heart... What should I do? Wish I knew what to do to make him fall for me...

Tears streamed down her face...

My Prince! Will you ever fall for me again?
