After that day, Xing noted that everytime she tried to remind Chenglei of the past, he had a headache without remembering anything and if she tried to confess, he'd forget it the next moment. It broke her heart but she willed herself to stay closer to him nonetheless. She really couldn't find a way to stay away from him or what he has in his heart.

Chenglei for some reason, brought all his household accounts and books for her to take care of. Xing knew the wife takes care of the household accounts but is that the reason he let's her take care of it?

Well, she didn't care as long as she gets to spend some time with him everyday. That day he brought her with him to the Imperial Study to meet the crown Prince. Xing who was used to the wild ways of Baobei, found Ah Xuan extremely soft and quiet.

Isn't he a little boy? How come he is so well-behaved?

Xing wondered but that boy when his father asked him to kneel and bow to her, just did what was asked of him surprising Xing. Baobei will never be this obedient his entire life,Xing knew. Is it because Ah Xuan is raised inside the palace that he is so upright? Probably!

But Haru always blamed her for going too easy on Baobei making him a rogue. Xing didn't agree with him as she knew Baobei isn't half as mischievous as her, growing up. She turned out fine...probably..? He'll turn out fine too.

Xing observed the boy who was fat and chubby yet he had an elegance to him. He didn't talk much but listened to everyone and silently played by himself with the brush and ink given to him by his father. He seemed to be enjoying writing. Even though he wasn't three years old and he was playing with ink, he didn't have a single splatter on his clothes, surprising Xing.

Xing could not bear to see such an obedient boy. No child should be this quiet!

Mo Chen was lying by her feet and and Xing smirked.

"Ah Xuan! Want to ride on Mo Chen?", she asked and Chenglei glared at her for spoiling his cute nephew.

Guess he cannot let her raise his children! Once she births them he'll have to raise them himself! She'll spoil them silly like with that monkey boy who knows no fear!

The Emperor just rolled his eyes and went on with his work. How typical of her!

Xing saw Ah Xuan's eyes light up with excitement and he strutted towards her, "I love you, Aunty Xing", he hugged her with his little mouth grinning and Xing picked him and placed him on the back of Mo Chen.

"What if he falls down?", Chenglei was worried. He's the crown prince afterall! He cannot even suffer a single scratch on him.

"Falls down?", Xing grimaced, "I rode on wild grey wolves even before I was four. They won't even slow down carrying me on those mountainous terrain. I didn't fall down... And... What if he falls down? He'll scrape his knee at the most... It's fine... It's fine...", she patted Ah Xuan's back.

Rode on grey wolves? Chenglei was surprised.

" Wish I watched you grow up! ", he mumbled under his mouth and Xing who was helping Ah Xuan paused her hands.

That's all you did, my Prince! Watching me grow up! You've watched me rife grey wolves before too. You always were worried for me too!

" Mo Chen, go slow", she advised Mo Chen seeing Chenglei worried. Even though the Emperor seemed to not mind, she cannot decide for other's children.

Ah Xuan was giggling as he was walked inside the Imperial Study by Mo Chen in the speed of chasing a tortoise.

Xing was all smiles and clapping, looking at Ah Xuan enjoying his ride while Chenglei was going behind Mo Chen in an attempt to catch Ah Xuan in case he fell and the Emperor had a fulfilled smile in his lips as he watched his son being taken care of by his brother and sister-in-law.

Ah, it is blissful! If only brother's children could play with my son too...

But their bliss was short lived when a bowl filled with steamy hot soup came crashing at Mo Chen and Mo Chen held his position fearing his sudden movement might make the boy on his back fall down even though as a predator of the night, he'd have easily escaped the oncoming danger.

Chenglei following closely picked up the boy and the bowl smashed on Mo Chen face and blood started dripping on the floor and Xing stood up from her seat while the Emperor sighed.

"Are you trying to kill my son?", the arrogant and repugnant scream of Weiye was heard before Xing could see her face and judging by the expression of the Emperor it seemed like it is not unexpected of her. He looked ashamed of her behaviour and Xing looked at Ah Xuan shaking as he wrapped his little arms around Chenglei. He was terribly scared.

Mo Chen whined in pain as Chu Weiye stepped foot inside and the first thing she did was raise her hand to slap her son while he was still in Chenglei's arms and Xing was enraged.

Who'd hit that cute little boy? And is she raising her hand at my man?

"I dare you to hit the boy", she said gritting her teeth.

"I dare you!"

Seeing her, Weiye's anger only increased and she raised her hand at Xing, "So it is your fault, b*tch!"

But before she could take even a single step, the angry roar of Mo Chen resounded in the room startling everyone and Weiye shook on fear as she took a couple of steps back. That beast never glared its fangs at her and now it looked like it would devour her if she even made a move.

Mo Chen could accept him getting hit but no one could be allowed to hurt his favourite person!

Xing ignored Weiye and looked at the Emperor, "Does this happen usually?". He didn't answer but looked at her pleadingly to not make it a big issue.

Xing was heartbroken!

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. If only I didn't bring Chu Weiye inside the palace!

For the first time, Xing regretted a decision she made. And it was a decision made out of anger too... I ruined the Emperor's life! She felt bad for the Emperor.

Chu Weiye left the study as she was scared of Mo Chen not before making some threats at Xing and Xing knelt in front of Mo Chen and treated his wound. The bowl just missed his eyes, thankfully and the hot soup just only caused first degree burns and nothing more serious. She applied medicines and even wrapped a bandage for the cut, while Mo Chen whined in pain.

"I'm sorry!", she said to Mo Chen but she meant it for the Emperor and she couldn't stay there any longer and left after kissing the scared boy in the cheek and telling him to be brave.
