Years passed peacefully for Xing. She didn't bother about politics and was happy in her home with her grandchildren.

Xinxin had two sons and Xing was happy to see them. Chenglei pampered her too much and and would join her to visit their elder son anytime she wanted. He even bought a Manor for their stay in the capital city of Water Kingdom. She stayed there for a month with her grandchildren and only returned since Mizuki was pregnant and she wanted her there. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy and Xing was happy to see the little baby who looked like his mother.

A year later, Shuang gave birth to a girl and Xing was overjoyed to see her first granddaughter. She never let the baby out of her sight and carried her around all the time.

With her seeing the next generation, Xing worried about Baobei who was still concentrating only in business and travelling most of the time, restlessly. She wanted him to settle with a wife and children of his own too.

When she talked to him about it, he just dismissed the idea and coaxed her to give up. Chenglei mocked Xing for spoiling that monkey boy too much for him to end up this easy-going. No one would oppose Xing in their home or outside, except Baobei, and he is the only one she never gets angry or raises her voice at. Even Chenglei gets scolded by her at times and Chenglei was always jealous of that monkey boy.

Xing really was partial towards Baobei and she knew it too. The same things her children would get punished for will be overlooked by her if done by Baobei. She loved him more and spoilt him more.

She couldn't help it.

He is the first person who called him 'mother' and he is Haru's son.

In those times, when she thought that there will be no one else to call her mother and was in a dark place, he stuck to her with his pretty smile and his cute voice calling her 'mummy' . Even Chenglei wasn't there but Baobei was and he was a comfortable warm blanket for her when she had no hope. He made her life worthwhile to live in those darkest times.

Xing knew Baobei loved her as much as she loved him and for him to settle, she have to force him. He will not refuse her and would act proper if his wife was chosen by her.

As she was wondering who would suit Baobei more, she met an old acquaintance in the city. The old mama who used to work in the Ming family kitchen who'd sneak them food back when Haru was bullied in their Manor. Haru had already got her a shop to look after but somehow she lost the shop and now was poor.

Xing after scolding the old woman for not looking for her or Haru in times of her need, asked the old lady to ask for any favours since she was the one who fed them when they were little and hungry. The old woman was overjoyed by the little girl whom she once fed, who is now the Princess Consort, still talking to her like she used to when she was a child. She really didn't want to disturb her asking for favours. They don't have to.

Xing offered to open a restaurant for her but the old lady refused. After a bit of hesitation, she asked for Xing's help to find a groom for her granddaughter Dong Caihong who is currently living with her. She had no one else and she was already eighteen and unmarried. Her granddaughter has no need to suffer with her in poverty.

Xing asked to take a look at the girl and the moment she looked at her, she liked the girl. She was humble, polite, positive, with bright aura and that added beauty to her already pretty features. She was dressed in rags but she had the inner beauty Xing greatly appreciated.

After settling the old lady and Dong Caihong in a house, Xing asked Shurei's opinion about marrying that girl to Baobei and Shurei left the decision with Xing. Shurei knew how much her son was loved by Xing and knew Xing would only arrange the best girl for Baobei.

Xing arranged the wedding and Baobei still showed no interest but obliged because his mother asked him to. Xing was confident that he will treat Caihong well but she would be lying if she didn't worry for the girl. If Baobei didn't accept her, it would be like she used the girl just because she was poor and ruined her life by throwing her in a loveless marriage.

But to her relief, Baobei started to stay home after his wedding and the letters from Shurei were filled with good words for Caihong. She also mentioned Baobei has accepted her and Xing was really happy that all her sons are settled now.

Around this time, Lin Mubai's daughter married Seiren's son too. Lin Mubai was rich on his own and he stayed with Chenglei even after he asked him to. There were some people in the city who'd mock Lin Mubai as Prince Jin's dog and he'd just smile and say, "Yes, I am his dog. And I will bite if any one of you try to hurt him or his family"

Lin Mubai and Xiao Mei's children grew up with Chenglei and Xing's children and Seiren's son who'd accompany his sister for training with Xing met Lin Mubai's daughter and they fell in love. Mubai tried to change his daughter's mind since he thought her daughter's status is not worthy for the Zhong family and that too for the future head of the Zhong family.

Chenglei brought this issue with Seiren and after confirming that his son really fell in love with Lin Bao, he agreed for the marriage. Seiren was never someone who worried for status and titles. And his mother was from a humble family who became the Lady of Xing household and his wife is literally a refugee who then became the Lady of the household. And so he gladly accepted Lin Mubai's daughter as his daughter-in-law. Maya too was welcoming as she already liked the girl.

Xing's daughters turned sixteen that year and Little Yu returned from the Southern Province for their usual trip to the Western Province to meet Xinxin.

As they travelled there, Xing could feel Chenglei in deep thoughts and asked him. He was acting shifty and didn't reveal anything until he reached their Manor in the West.

"Xing, I love you," he said before getting down from the carriage, "Keep an open mind," he added making Xing's heart skip a beat.

"What did you do?" she asked holding his hand and he smiled at her gently, his usual smile, and Xing calmed down a bit but she still was skeptical.

As she got down from the carriage, she was informed that Little Yu took off somewhere earlier, jumping off the carriage. Xing rubbed her forehead in exasperation. But then, it would be odd and weird if her younger daughter could sit still an entire journey. The West is always a stronghold for their family and Little Yu always carried a sword and so Xing didn't worry much.

As Xing got freshened up, her husband who usually sticks to her like a glue was nowhere to be found.

Chenglei only returned to their room just for lunch and holding her hand, brought her to the dining hall where all her children were seated.

And also, There he was... The person she didn't meet for years and the one who was recently writing letters asking for an absurd request.

"Little Zhu! Go to your room, " Xing shouted and little Zhu tried to leave the hall but Chenglei stopped her and asked her to be seated.

"I'm going to kill you!" Xing shouted and Chenglei was calm., "No you won't. Now take a seat, " he tried to wrap his arm around her shoulder, but his poor hand was pushed away by his enraged wife. Her lips were trembling out of anger and she was fumingly mad as she bellowed,

"I refused you! And how dare you show your face to me? And why are YOU here? Where is Yunxi?"

Her sons and daughter-in-laws were flabbergasted seeing their usually calm mother being bombastic.

'Isn't this the Emperor of the Fire Kingdom? At least that's how father introduced him to us. If so, why is mother being disrespectful towards him? And more importantly, why is the Fire Emperor letting her?' They all wondered.

"If both of us are here, who will take care of my Kingdom, dummy?", the Fire Emperor spoke lazily leaning on the chair making Xing more furious.

"Ah, so you do remember you have a kingdom to take care of. So why don't you scram? Get out! " she tried to grab his collar and push him away when Chenglei stopped her.

Chenglei thought with her not seeing him for decades, she'd behave but who'd have thought those two can never get along, ever? 'She has became a brat again after seeing him. How am I going to explain her behaviour to our children?' Chenglei worried.

"Oh, please!" the Fire Emperor rolled his eyes, " You still haven't changed"

"You...",Xing pointed at the Fire Emperor to refute him but she saw someone entering the hall and stood flabbergasted.

He did not just do that!
