Waking up beside a headless corpse didn't cause the boy to be too alarmed. He got up and looked down at himself. His clothes were filled with cuts and tears. There were no visible wounds on himself. They had all healed. But, the problem was that he was drenched in blood. Some of it was his but most of it was the cultivator's. The blood had sprayed out uncontrollably when he lost his head. He took of the wet and battered dragon hide and threw it away. He looked to where his broken spear lay.

"What a pity. Rest well my companion." He buried the broken pieces.

He then picked up the sword. It did not have any designs on its plain silver colored body. The entire sword seemed to be made as a single piece. It was covered in tiny runes which he didn't know the meaning of. After examining it, the boy put it in his belt.

Then he searched the man's body. He couldn't find anything of value besides the broken armor he wore underneath. On his forefinger, the man wore a plain metallic band as a ring. Seeing that he wasn't able to find anything else, the boy pulled off the ring and kept it.

He couldn't bring himself to eat another human so he also buried the body. There was nothing else for him to do here so he went to the place where he had kept Anya. It was a treetop about half a mile away.

Anya hadn't woken up from the ordeal. Instead she was shivering slightly. He checked her temperature to find that so was very feverish. Taking out her small bag filled with golden blood from her bosom, he fed some of it to her. Making her swallow, he put the bag back. A few moments later, Anya's temperature was back to normal and the wounds on her body were healed. She opened her eyes and said to him, "I didn't say anything."

"I know. Feel better?"

"Yes, how are my wounds healed?" Anya's eyes flew open and she pulled out her blood bag. Opening it, she started crying, "My treasured golden blood! Why's almost half of it gone! Nooooo!"

"Stop crying! Your life is more important than some blood!"

Staring at him bloodshot, Anya got up and started to hit him. The movement caused her to lose balance and fall off the tree. The boy made no move to help her. He stared at her from above and laughed.

Anya looked at him and said, "Why are you naked again? I told you not to run around nude again, didn't I?"

"It tore." He said simply.

"How does clothing made of dragon hide tear!?"

Pulling out the sword, he said, "with this!"

"Ahh, a flying sword! Of course you can't use it unless you're a cultivator. Wait a minute! You killed a core formation cultivator?"

"Yup, wasn't so hard either."

Anya was hysterical. "DO YOU HAVE THE RING!?"

Unsure of Anya's excitement, the boy pulled out the plain looking ring as he jumped down. "Why do you care so much about this? It looks so plain."

Then it clicked, "Do you mean to saw this is an interspatial ring?" "Of course it is!" "But you said that they were very rare and I wouldn't need to worry about ever seeing one." "Grover was a cultivator from a big sect who was recruited into the army and made a captain. Do you think he's important enough to own a space ring?"

"He didn't seem much. Was he?"

Exasperated, Anya said, "A captain is a high rank in the army. Besides, he being a member of a grand sect already entitles him to a space ring." Anya grabbed the ring from the boys hand and rubbed it.

"So how do we access a space ring?"

"I don't know," Anya replied rubbing the ring with glowing eyes, "I never owned one. But its supposed to be very expensive and whatever is placed inside should be very valuable."

The boy just stared blankly. "What's the use of a space ring we can use."

The boy looked towards the direction of the outside of the forest and murmured, "I want to go outside the forest."

Anya pausing her cuddling of the ring said," What did you say? I couldn't here you very clearly."

The boy shouted, "I want to go explore the world!"

"Good luck going anywhere without clothes."

The boy looked at the girl and said, "You're taking me." With a finality in his voice.

Half a month later, the both of them were ready. The boy made a large wagon with the directions of Anya and filled it with meat and skin. He also filled several large skin bags with blood and put them on the wagon. Anya said that they would sell for a lot in the city. In this half a month, the boy had gotten used to a sword and Anya had made some clothes and shoes for them. Though the boy didn't feel natural wearing shoes even now, he was slowly getting used to them.

"If I recall correctly, we have to go that way." Pointing at a random direction Anya said that looking confident.

"Okay, let's go" They moved in the direction and walked for two weeks. The boy dragging the wagon and the girl riding it. After the fourteenth day, Anya sheepishly told him, "I think we're going the wrong way."

Hearing this, the boy felt the blood flowing into his head as he was about to lash out in anger before sighing and turning back.

"It's actually the other way!" Anya said when they got back to the forest and renewed their supplies.

"You sure?" "Positively"

They went on their way in the direction she pointed.

Another two weeks went by before Anya said almost crying, "This is the wrong way again."

Speechlessly the boy turned around again.

After they returned and filled their supplies again, Anya pointed at another direction and said, "This time I'm sure of it. A 100% it's this way. I can't be wrong all three times!"

The boy wordlessly pulled the wagon in the opposite direction of where she pointed.

"Hey! I said I was sure this time!"

Not giving her any mind, the boy continued on in the direction opposite of where she was pointing. Anya couldn't do anything but follow him. She grumbled the entire way and kept telling him that they were going the wrong way. The boy didn't say a single word the entire trip.

After a week and a half, while Anya was telling him for the umpteenth time that they were going the wrong way, the words caught in her mouth.

In front of them, below the plateau they stood on there was a great wall made of concrete. The height of the wall was about 40 meters. The whole City was so big that its entirety couldn't be seen. Tall walls surrounded the structure. Cannons and missile launchers were mounted on the walls. Lots of soldiers could be seen on the walls. They could be seen carrying swords and guns on their waists wearing gleaming black armor. They wore helmets which the boy saw had glass or something similar as face cover. In the center was a huge white building. It didn't look like a castle though. Anya said that it's called the Cube. It serves as the government office and residential area of the members of parliament. Besides it was a military base which is said to contain numerous weapons of mass destruction.

"Welcome to the capital city of Mandel!" Anya finally said showing no embarrassment for her earlier acts. "It was named after some old leader of this area from before the apocalypse. He should have been quite important. Anyway It covers an area of 2000 square kilometers. It is the largest city on this side of the continent. It is also the most populous with more than 19 million. Of course the city expands to the subterranean level as well. The city holds the most powerful military power on this continent. Even most sects are afraid of provoking this behemoth. "

The two of them came down to find that they were actually on the other side of the city wall where the main gate was located.

A guard noticed them from the walls and called out, "Identify yourself. No trespassing allowed" This got the attention of the remaining guards who aimed their rifles at them.

Anya replied back in a loud voice, "I am Anya Cordon, 2nd member of the cryostorm squad. My companion is a lone wolf. The wagon is filled with supplies and beast products. Requesting for permission to enter."

A soldier with a red armor took out a handheld display and scanned them. He called out, "All clear, permission granted!"

The wall suddenly opened up to form a small entrance which was big enough for the both of them and their wagon to enter.

Anya and the boy entered the city and were blinded by a bright light as the entrance closed behind them.

When the light cleared, they saw that they were surrounded by soldiers. The light was generated by LED lights on the ceiling.

"Calm down, brother" Anya told the boy. "Follow me"

As they moved forward, the soldiers escorted them through the inside of the wall.

The boy paid them no mind as he dragged the wagon behind him as he followed Anya.

As he followed, he felt a familiar power from the electric appliances. A feeling as if they were calling out to him. As he tried to answer the call, he couldn't feel them anymore. But when he didn't pay them any mind, he felt the calling again. He felt slightly irritated at this. But bore it in.

As they passed the tunnel, they saw an opening on the other side. Here they saw an army camp surrounding the entire wall on the inside. It was a garrison.

There were vehicles like tanks and helicopters stationed in the camp. On a field, soldiers were training their body and in magic, close combat, swordplay and with guns. There was a fair number of females in their ranks as well. The military officers escorted them out of the compound silently.
