In Salvatore's opinion, he was simply strolling thru the woods, however each of his relaxed, graceful steps easily covered dozens of feet. Following Carl's elusive, sweet-smelling scent, which seemed to wander all over the place, Salvatore retraced Carl's steps and found it curious how it seemed Carl was drawn to areas with lots of bright colors, especially areas where there was a prominent high place from which one could look down while easily being seen.

Like a trained bloodhound Salvatore relentlessly pursued Carl's scent, through the forest, over hills, down gulley's, around through and under hundreds of different bushes, covering several miles until he finally arrived at a strange wooded area.

Although it looked like any other part of the forest, Salvatore felt it looked too normal, while his instincts screamed that something was strange. Finally he was convinced when Carl acknowledged that the area looked familiar to him and that they were probably rather close to the Rabbit Kingdom. Stopping, Salvatore carefully inspected the area around him as he examined the strange path of Carl's scent, which crisscrossed around various trees in a manner more complex that a Celtic knot.

Recalling what Carl had told him about his papa telling him that the Rabbit Kingdom was a super special secret place protected by the forest, Salvatore pondered deeply upon this before suddenly recalling two conversations he had had several years ago with two unique individuals, Archdruid Talmer, and Feng Shui Grandmaster Clear Lotus.

Archdruid Talmer, who loved to talk endlessly about plants and nature, had once told him about the mysteries of trees and how the ancient druids had used them to hide from others in their time of need by calling upon the spirits of the woods to shield them from their enemies.

Grandmaster Clear Lotus had also mention something similar about using the natural energy or Qi of the world along with trees to create natural formation for defense, which could completely obscure areas. Some natural formations were so strong, that they were able to twist space enough to cause an area to completely disappear and become inaccessible from the exterior.

However Grandmaster Clear Lotus also said that although these natural formations where incredibly difficult to enter, the hardest part of gaining entry was actually locating the formation.

Once the area such a natural formation was located at was found, then the difficulty dropped from nearly impossible to only really hard.

Now to enter, all one had to do was merely locate the spatial corridor, a hidden path that winded around the area in a strange zigzag manner for hundreds, even thousands of steps. Provided you could follow the entire spatial path without stopping even once you could gain entry to the formation.

The slightest hesitation would result in being forcefully ejected from the formation and having to start all over again.

Furthermore, depending on the formations strength and how far you had managed to walked before being expelled would decide the severity of the backlash from forceful expulsion. This is why it was considered only very hard once it was found instead of nearly impossible.

Seeing how Carl's scent was entwined around only a few dozen trees in the area Salvatore breathed a sigh of relief, for this meant the spatial path wasn't that complicated, and although even if it was he would have still continued, logically who wanted to spend so much time and concentration to break thru a natural formation just so you could visit a so called "Rabbit Kingdom" and earn a measly 5 XP.

Cautioning Carl not to move until he stopped, Salvatore carefully observed the convoluted path of Carl's scent and committed it to memory, then taking a deep breath began to walk the strange winding path. Weaving around trees, thru bushes, and even under several low branches, Salvatore walked all over the area in a manner that looked like the deranged actions of a lunatic.

However, without pause or the slightest hesitation, Salvatore continued to walk the unseen spatial path, with each step he sensed an almost imperceptible change in the ambiance of the area. From past experience, this was a subtle indication of a change in the flow of natural energy around him, which meant he must be on the right path.

By the time he had reached the half-way point, he was absolutely certain he was on the right path, for the space around him had grown slightly blurry, while his superior hearing enabled him to detect a barely audible humming sound. Gradually, with each step he took the space around him became increasingly blurry, while the strange humming sound continued to grow louder.

But his iron-will was unyielding, while his purpose was clear, regardless of what may come, he would sojourn on fearlessly. So he continued to walk at the same steady pace, like an inexorable iceberg he followed Carl's scent along the spatial path, each step he took was placed perfectly, for despite the progressively growing blurriness his feet were both firm and steady without the slightest hint of hesitation.

Carl on the other hand, who was peeking out from between Salvatore's fingers, was not handling the blurriness nearly as well at all. What started as a slightly drunken stupor, soon blossomed into a full on case of sea sickness as Carl queasily wailed in utter misery.

"Oh GOD, I think I'm going to hurl!"

Raising his other hand to shield Carl, he encapsulated his entire head, covering his eyes, as he rubbed his head soothingly with his thumb on a certain set of pressure points in the manner an old Chinese sea pirate had taught him to cure seasickness.

As the cure instantly took effect, Carl's nausea disappeared, but was abruptly followed by a inescapable wave of drowsiness, an additional side-effect of the seasickness treatment. Despite this little situation, Salvatore had not halted in the least, having diverted only a sliver of his concentration to deal with Carl's simplistic problem.

As he neared the final stretch of the spatial path, the space had now grown so distorted that a single glance could cause one to go insane unless they possessed a suitably powerful will, while the sound that had started as a light hum had now grown into a unceasing inescapable roar, which relentlessly pounded Salvatore's eardrums, bombarding them with the furious cry of a thousand raging beasts, and yet still he walked on, unfazed by the debilitating effects of the natural formation, until finally as he calmly strolled around a strangely warped tooth pick thing, (which he deduced must have once been a tree) the roaring sound climaxed, as the world around him flashed blindingly bright, then darkness descended and... nothing,... stillness had finally returned.
