Chapter 180 – Gap

"Meh, do it faster, then."

[… Since you have experienced in soul space and soul combat, I'll skip a few details.]

.

******************************

>

Sometimes, you will encounter creatures that can invade your soul.

These creatures are similar to the black slime that you have killed as they always drop soul fragments, which give you soul points and free status attribute points upon consumed.

These soul points are another form of a currency that can be used to buy skills for players. By collecting these soul points, you can upgrade your character and evolve into a stronger race.

******************************

.

Misha had a wry smile on her face. Instead of giving her a portion of the dead black slime's memories, the game gave her a form of currency to exchange for goodies.

'This game is going to be grindy. Do I have to poke my nose to bait for these black slimes? I don't like using my soul attack.'

After Misha had finished reading the soul point description, another menu appeared before her.

It was the Soul Shop, which she could trade the 1,000 soul points for a skill book.

.

******************************

>

You can exchange your soul points for items or skill books, here.

You can also use dust to trade for soul points.

Exchange Rate: 1,000 Dust to 1 Soul Point.

>

1. 1,000 Points: Fireball Skill Book

2. 1,000 Points: Fire Breath Skill Book

3. 1,000 Points: Flame Field Skill Book

4. 1,000 Points: Fire Resistance Skill Book

5. 1,000 Points: Auto-Regeneration Skill Book

******************************

.

They were the starter skills that Misha had once been prompted to choose for free. Now, they had become merchandise.

Since there were only five items in the shop, Misha picked the most useful skill among the list, the Flame Field.

>

This skill had various uses. From Mia and her experience, the flame field could be used as a layer of a barrier dome, which could repel fire attacks. Also, the skill acted as a burst wave, which burned surrounding areas around Misha.

In summary, this skill could be Misha's both offensive and defensive spell.

.

******************************

>

Number of usages: 0

Next level: 10

Activation Cost: 50 Hunger.

Barrier Upkeep: 1 Hunger per 1.5 seconds.

Generated Shield HP: 2HP per 1 PF

>

Flame Field is a skill that can be used as a weapon or a defensive shield. By activating it, a fire dome will burst out of the caster, burning everything within five meters radius. Afterward, the fire dome will act as a shield against physical attacks and fire attacks.

>

After it is cast, a fire barrier will remain until the caster dispels it. The caster can pay the upkeep to maintain the barrier. However, if the flame field suffered damages from any attack, the caster's PF will decrease to upkeep the barrier.

Higher flame field mastery increases firepower, adds damage reduction, reduces the activation cost, and lowers the upkeep.

.

Misha sighed, 'At least, I got this skill back, but it will be a long grinding to get it to my previous level. Also, no more red gel abuse and skill spam. What a pity.'

No more inferno red gel hacks for Misha

[You have completed the basic combat and skill usage tutorial. From now on, you can start taking jobs from guilds or seek an apprenticeship from masters on this sanctuary. Once you have reached level 100 or the sum of all careers reached 100 or higher, you can leave this island.]

[I hope that you can find my lost artifacts, so you can defeat the Demon King Mia in the future.]

Misha's consciousness was pulled back to her game avatar in the center square.

When she returned to her game avatar, she found many people around her, taking pictures from various angles, including the view below her buttock.

"Oi!"

Misha was pissed. A fire crackled around her body as she prepared to launch her flame field in this game for the first time.

*Mew!* (I want to kill them when you were sleeping, but I was afraid of a PK status. Can I kill them?)

As if the perverts realized their wrongdoings, they dispersed in an instant. Still, many honest players were sitting around the goddess statue in the middle of the town square with their eyes closed.

Misha figured that these people might be doing the same quest as she did.

But there was something wrong with them.

These players sweated bullets as if they were having a nightmare.

'Killing two zombies with a weapon is a cakewalk. But killing that 1000-point black slime with a soul attack is going to be tough for newbies. That thing can't be killed easily with the monster's buff and player's nerf. They require experience and mental strength to kill that. Or, maybe the game was trying to give an example of an impossible foe?'

Misha abandoned her worries for other players. She left the town square as she explored the Newbie Island.

It was not hard to tell which buildings were giving what service as signboards and game indicators were around. With many hints, Misha looked around to gather information for Shurka.

She was not in a hurry to complete quests or change her class. After all, she did not play the game to compete with anyone or become a professional gamer.

Misha had not realized yet. Currently, her level and her total status points were ranked first in the leaderboard since everyone got stuck with the black slime in the tutorial quest.

Above her head, two gold icons, which honored the first ranker in status points and level, were floating on top of Misha's head along with her avatar name. Everywhere she went, players would look at her in awe and respect.

Moreover, Misha was a rare dragonewt, which had gone extinct in the Milky Way Galaxy. Many human players from the Milky Way took many pictures and posted them on their social media.

There were also other races walking around the Newbie Island. Aside from the felionians, two more xeno-races joined the game, as well.

One of them was similar to a demi-hydra in their monster transformation, but they had two arms and two legs. The Tatus Race was the legit lizardmen from birth, which inherited reptilian species' bloodlines and DNAs.

The other one was a half-human half-rabbit, the Leporian race. These people had long bunny ears instead of short human ears. Also, their hands and legs were the fluffy animal's hands, which attracted attention from human players.

Still, those hands were not like harmless rabbits. They hid long claws in their paws, like cats, which were strong enough to tear human flesh apart with a single scratch. Moreover, they were meat-eaters / carnivores!

Anyone who fancied these rabbit folks, thinking that they were easy prey, would soon learn a harsh lesson.

On Misha's Cathulu Planet, many Tatus and Leporians were common there as the three races used the planet as their trade hub, which was the reason that Min chose this planet to settle down. Many of these aliens also attended Mia's school.

Therefore, Tatus, Leporians, Felionians, and a dragonewt like Misha stood out from the player population.

"MIAAAAAAA!!"

Soon, someone called for Misha's other name.

It was Moo, a cat boy from the same class at Misha's school.

Moo leaped forward to hug Misha, but she greeted him with her right foot to his face.

The foot planted into his face, and a damage indicator, >, appeared. His HP bar also reduced a bit.

Tama also used her tentacles to tie his angles and slammed him onto the ground. Another > damage appeared.

"Ouch! My HP!" Moo cried.

"Meh, don't jump me, you banana cat! Wait, how did you know that it's me?"

"Well, Tama has been calling you Misha, and from what I see, only dragonewts on Cathulu are you and Shurka. I figure that the dragonewt with Misha as a name should only be you, Mia."

Misha was astonished by Moo's deduction power. Even though Misha had not told anyone at school that she had another nickname, Moo managed to figure it out on his own.

"By the way, Mia. I didn't know that you can play as another gender. You look hot in a female avatar!"

Moo's eyes sparkled as he ogled Misha, who was still wearing newbie clothes.

"Oi, stop staring. Do you want me to poke your eyes!?"

"C'mon. Let me touch your boobs. Share the fun with your friend, too!" Moo made a groping gesture, wanting to touch Misha's boobs.

Misha kicked Moo to his nuts, making him crouching down in pain.

10 Damage applied to Moo.

"Behave, banana cat. Anyway, have you completed the tutorial quest yet? How was your fight with the black slime?"

Moo sulked, "Obviously, I lost! It's a rigged fight by the game. We all should have 350 points as a total sum of starting status, right? How the hell can we kill the 1,000 point monster with only our imagination!?"

"You lost? Then, how did you complete the quest?"

"It's a rigged event. When my HP was one hit away from the final blow, the game took the black slime away and gave me EXP to reward me. The game said that I reduced half of its HP, so I get a bit over a thousand EXP as a quest reward. Say, how many EXP did you get? How the hell do you level so fast?"

"… Huh?"

Misha raised her eyebrows as she was surprised by the other player's result.

"Don't "Huh" me. I'm only level 5 after the tutorial. How come you're level 15? Did you complete another quest?"

Misha paused and glanced around. Since many people were eavesdropping on their conversation because of Misha's top-ranking status, she pulled Moo to a quiet place.

When they were alone, Moo laughed, "Oh, you wanna do that in-game? Well, if you don't mind trying your new body on me, I'm ready at any time."

Misha hammered a fist on top of Moo's head, "Idiot banana. I'm trying to tell you a secret here!"

Moo was disappointed, "Oh, okay. Bummer. I thought I would have lost my V card in-game with my buddy, boohoo."

Misha facepalmed, "Meh. Okay, look. Here is the secret. I defeated the black slime."

"HOWDAFUC-"

Misha pressed a palm to shut Moo's mouth.

"Don't yell. Don't cry. Don't make a sound. Or I'll make Miss Tiffany visit you."

"…"
