LD - 1. Slave and King (6)
The superstitious plan was, of course, a lie. Only through this method was Han Seo Jin able to easily get his medical record without being doubted by the doctor. Naturally, he would pray for his recovery, but not through a ridiculous method like that.

He returned to his small studio and spread out his test results. Looking at the medical terminology, he was unable to understand what the results stated. Instead, he was able to recognize some images, such as the MRI. His level of comprehension only reached the ability of identifying his body parts. He did not know which parts were normal and which parts were malignant, nor could he distinguish his organs.

He stared intently at the test records surrounding him. Inside his mind, only one word resounded his thoughts.

‘Cure, cure, cure, cure…’

After an unknown period of time, pain emerged from his eyes, but he did not stop. He continued this action until his power kicked in.

And finally, it did.

‘Yes, it worked!’

Immediately, complex words popped up in his mind. He was unsure about what they said and could not recognize the language but he knew that these words were the clues to his cure.

Han Seo Jin desperately transcribed the image Insight produced. It wouldn’t be accurate to say that he had written word because he had drawn objects instead.

He scribbled on 8 sheets of A4 paper, attempting to record everything he saw. In the end, he sighed in relief.

“... Good, I am done.”

He had struggled to finish everything, working all night. His back was soaked in sweat as fatigue set into his bones. However, he still felt relieved.

“This is not the time to rest.”

He grabbed the papers and scrambled to a translation company.

“Is the translation of these papers possible?”

“A translation? Please wait…”

The company employee glanced at the paper then glared at Han Seo Jin. With a grim look, he asked, “this is not written in English?”

“Yes, I think it isn’t English.”

Although he did not learn a foreign language in high school, he was capable of knowing the words were not in English.

“Is the language Spanish or something? The alphabet looks similar to English but it is a lot different from it… Please wait a moment. I will try to contact the translation team for more information, please wait here.”

“Ok.”

The employee took the paper and walked off to another office. Han Seo Jin sat down and calmly waited for the results.

However, there were no news after 30 minutes. An ominous feeling encroached him and a different staff member in his 40s approached him.

“Excuse me, are you the person who commissioned the translation?”

“Yes, it is from me.”

“I’m sorry, but where did you get the papers from?”

“Is there a problem with them?”

The man scratched his head and replied.

“Although the alphabet is familiar, it is not the modern alphabet found today. They might be from an ancient era… we are not sure. Currently, we translate documents only consisting of the modern alphabet, so we are unable to assist you. This is not an ancient English academic research association, we are a translation company. I can only point you in that direction, sorry for the inconvenience.”

“The ancient alphabet?”

“I think that’s what these letters are. Please contact an ancient English Symposium for more information.”

The papers were returned to Han Seo Jin, who stared blankly at them. Although he knew they weren’t in English, but the alphabet wasn’t even from this era?

As the man recommended, Han Seo Jin searched for an organization specializing in ancient languages. But they all had the same replies.

“This is the first time I’ve seen these letters. Which era are they from?”

“I’m not sure. I can’t even make a logical guess on that, I’ve never seen them before…”

“Where did you get this? By the look of it, you transcribed it from an ancient manuscript.”

He had even found a professor at Korea University that focused on ancient English. At the beginning, the professor was irritated by this request but his attitude changed after looking at the document.

He spent all day attempting to read the paper and finally raised his head.

“This paper… Did you happen to see an old manuscript and transcribe it?”

“Yes, it was similar to that.”

“Where is it now? Do you not have it anymore?”

“I’m sorry, but it was ravaged by a fire…”

“I see, I see.”

The professor in his 60s slapped his knees in regret. With a loud sigh, as if the world was ending, he could only be disappointed. Han Seo Jin could not help but be embarrassed by the professor’s response.

“This is the first time I’ve seen this alphabet. At first glance, one would think the words were random combinations of the ancient English letters. But there are certain linguistic regulations in the words, rhymes, and letters. These patterns are too elaborate and widely used for it to be a joke.”

“...”

“I think this is a language that was lost a long time ago, like an old variation of English. But I am not sure of this conclusion, as there are more than 230 individual letters. It may ,in fact, be a different language from English.”

At the end, these documents were impossible to translate. Han Seo Jin could only reply firmly.

“I see, thank you for your time.”

“Wait, is it possible if I can have a copy of this? If I happen to discover anything, I will contact you immediately.”

“Alright.”

At first Han Seo Jin was going to decline his request, but hope still lingered in his heart. Though, the results will probably not change.

Back home, all his strength left his shoulders.

The test records were still scattered on the floor. As he sat down, he couldn’t help but glance at the crumpled results.

“This… what the hell?”

He assumed that Insight would tell him the cure for his cancer, not bring more complexities to his plate.

Disappointed in the outcome, he threw away his results and laid down. Suddenly, he got back up.

“No, I cannot give up like this. There must be something that I missed, let me try again.”

The power of insight was influenced by one’s mental concentration. If your mind was strong, then what you can see would be limitless. It was thanks to his strong mentality that he was able to locate the jackpot winning lotto ticket on the national map.

That was a fact that he knew, so why couldn’t he find the cure this time? Wasn’t his mentality strong enough?

“A cure?”

He observed the results he had thrown away.

The power of insight was mysterious. If the previous attempt was correct, then is there anything present that can cure the cancer?
“What nonsense, could it be that the answer was something out of the world?”

He snorted and shook his head in disbelief. However, he soon stopped and pondered over the thought.

“Wait a moment, in the first place, the language does not make sense. It isn’t known if anybody comprehends what these words mean, so it is possible that they are instructions on how to treat my cancer.”

As he continued to think about the documents, he kneeled down and observed the test reports again. He reattempted staring intently at these records as he mumbled one word with a strong will.

‘Cure. Cure. Cure. Cure…’

His eyes were bright with hope, as he continued searching for a solution.

‘Possible remedies in modern medicine. Possible remedies in modern medicine…”

Suddenly.

The test reports glowed brightly again; the light emerged from the documents and intertwined into a shape. Han Seo Jin stared at the shapes as if bewitched.

Shapes, lines, and the modern alphabet emerged. The various patterns, symbols, and letters were intricately intertwined forming….

“Yes! It is this!”

It was a chemical structural formula.

“Idiot, you’re going down a roundabout path. There was an easier path that you just abandoned.”

As the king woke up from his dream, he could only sigh in disappointment.

He had shown Han Seo Jin the knowledge of healing spells. They were what he had initially discovered when attempting to perform insight.

The words found were written in the language of Lenorjian, so Han Seo Jin had been unable to comprehend the spells.

But they were not hard to learn, he just needed to ‘read it’ in the correct method. The words of wisdom would activate its power and the spell would’ve been learned.

However, Han Seo Jin’s power over insight was too weak. Therefore, he could not obtain the knowledge of reading the language.

“Still… It seems that overcoming my hardships in the dream is possible now.”
