"Sorry, Qing Bo."

Hu Cheng Se choked back her tears, holding onto the rock behind her to stand up straight. She glared at the silent man. "Farewell!"

She held the golden fish hairpin and charged. The man swung his sword when Hu Cheng Se was in its reach.

To the silent man's surprise, the sword did not pierce her body. Hu Cheng Se dodged down. From below, she stabbed the man in the same place as before, making the man howl like crazy. He faltered but grabbed Hu Cheng Se's collar, pinning her down on the ground.

The silent man thought Hu Cheng Se must have been scared by now. But she wasn't; she stabbed him again. With a winning grin, she said, "Take that!"

The man was furious; he gritted his teeth and stabbed at Hu Cheng Se's heart.

Hu Cheng Se slowly closed her eyes. In her hand, the fish hairpin was ruby red with the man's blood. "I'm sorry." She took another glance at it before she inhaled her last breath.

----

Amid darkness, Hu Zi desperately called for her sisters. She could not move from her position and was just aimlessly wandering between the fire walls until now. The fire got into her hem and robe, but she did not mind. "Oldest Sister, Second Sister, where are you? I'm begging you, answer me!"

"You couldn't see your sisters' bodies in front of you?" Another man came from behind her, terror spreading in waves with his sinister voice. He took strides until he stood in front of her. "I see, so you are that blind purple eyes girl." He smirked.

Hu Zi's body started trembling.

"Your sisters are dead! And soon, you too…!" He grabbed Hu Zi's neck and lifted her small body into the air. "Agh..." Her clothes got burnt, and it grazed her snow-white skin, making her scream.

"Sister!" Hu Ye shouted when he heard her struggle. He reached to the blue fire wall but was almost burned instead.

"Ye!" Qing Guang stopped him from going further. "Are you trying to kill yourself?"

"Ugh..." He looked up, the only way to get to the other side was through jumping over the tall wall of fire.

"Ye, more are coming." Qing Guang frowned. Another wave of fire users blocked his way; Ye and Guang already had so many injuries on their bodies but still kept on battling.

"Your brother will be too busy to find another way to reach this side. Now, bye, little blind girl!" The man created a mystical blue fire from his hand, and it slowly formed into a fireball.

Hu Zi could feel the scorching hot fire.

"Die!"

Suddenly, something fell from the sky.

A hand grabbed the man's shoulder, throwing him in the air. With a loud thud, the man had to retreat a few paces back.

Hu Zi coughed. That sinister-voiced man had left a glaring red handprint on her white neck, making her unable to breathe for a few seconds after he released her.

The one who had just hit the sinister-voiced man approached her kneeling figure. He held Hu Zi's hand in his. Hu Zi knew this hand, this was the hand that had picked her up in that snow and showed her light in the endless darkness. She stubbornly held back her tears. "Master Shou? Is that you?"

Shou was out of breath; he had drifted in the air for three days and three nights. He was so exhausted, there was only a tiny sliver of energy left in his body.

He had used that to jump from a huge tree and land down in the middle of the fire walls, just in time to save his disciple's life.

"Yeah, I'm here." Shou was horrified; if he had been a second late, one couldn't imagine what would have happened to the little girl in front of him.

The silent man came back after he finished with Hu Cheng Se. When he witnessed Shou throw his master aside, he clenched his teeth in anger and clashed with Shou. Because of the injury Hu Cheng Se had created, the silent man could not use his Qi

When Shou felt a strong enemy's presence behind him, he dodged and activated his hidden wind skill, 'Solid wind sword'. It was a sword made of solidified air; no fire could disperse it. Creating this sword consumed a lot of energy, but it could be made even by hot and sparse air. The sword was light, unlike the typical metallic swords.

When Hu Zi calmed down, she heard Shou and the silent man clash. She also heard a small, almost inaudible noise; a crying sound. She immediately went in the direction of the voice and picked Hu Xiang Yi up, wrapping him in her coat.

"How annoying." The sinister-voiced man recovered and approached her. "You damn blind woman!" Hu Zi was almost caught by that man once again.

In that instant, Fei Ying cried on top of him; Guang heard Fei Ying's call and took an arrow. From the other side of the fire, she drew the arrow that went straight into the fire, but because it was so fast, not all of it got burnt. The arrow pierced the sinister-voiced man's arm.

"How did...?" His eyes widened.

The fire walls reached the sky, blocking the view. Guang could not carelessly draw an arrow, or it could harm her sister-in-law and Master Shou. So she let Fei Ying guide her. She drew another arrow, and it pierced his leg.

The arrows Qing Guang used were the black arrows that could pierce even the strongest armor. The black arrows passed the blue fire, which normal ones could never do because the blue fire was really strong. Unfortunately, she only had three of those.

Just when she was about to release another arrow, the sinister-voiced man clicked his tongue and commanded.

"Someone, shoot that bird down!"

The fire users heeded to his command. They aimed towards the sky and shoot in Fei Ying's direction. Fei Ying was smart, so he dodged very easily since he had done this countless times when Qing Guang had tried to kill him long ago. To Fei Ying, the arrows that they shoot were powerless, a child's play compared to her arrows.

Fei Ying looked around; he spotted some trees in the distance and thought of an idea. Some of the arrows that was meant for him landed on the dry trees and burned them down. It was easier for the fire to spread since it was made of energy. The burned trees fell onto the Hu family's enemy's garrison.

"Fire!" The blue fire spread to the enemies' feet. "Run!"

The couple who owned Fei Ying smirked. "Good job, Fei Ying!" said Hu Ye; he was the one who had trained Fei Ying in the battlefield.

"Shou!" Hu Quan Li shouted from the other side of the fire walls; one could hear his sword clashing with the enemies. "Lad, take Zi'er and Xiang Yi out of here!"

"General?" Shou was still fighting with the silent man. His eyes widened, as he knew what the general meant. "Then..."

"We will be fine!" Hu Quan Li laughed. "Just take them to a safe place."

Shou, aware of the unusual tone of the great general's voice, gritted his teeth. He pierced the silent man's foot, and it got nailed to the ground.

He took Hu Zi by the waist and ran toward the cliff. She didn't want to leave her family behind; she struggled so he had no choice but to make her faint.

"Shou… an… er, thank you." Hu Quan Li's voice was getting further in Hu Zi's half-faint condition.

Shou stopped for a second, wide eyed, and looked back. "You knew?"

Shou could only see a faint 'of course, silly' smirk on the old general's face before the fire blocked his view. From the corners of his eyes, he saw pursuers coming. "Let's run to the cliff."
