From afar, Hu Zi watched the imperial palace from her place on the courtyard roof. Though the darkness of the night obscured most of her body and features, bits of moonlight managed to shine on her snow white skin as she stared at the towering structure that was in the distance, her gleaming purple eyes warring with different emotions.

She was restless, the days of using her wind nonstop practically draining her body, but she couldn't seem to close her eyes and take the long needed rest in the same room that she and her sisters used to share. Just looking at her second sister's empty bed pained her heart and made tears unconsciously stream down her cheek, showing just how much she missed her.

After regaining her consciousness, she requested Fa Sui to take her to see the coffins. She opened them one by one so that she could finally see the faces of her family, even though it might not be the best view.

To think that the first time she saw their faces, they would be inside wooden coffins…

"Mother looked as beautiful as a blooming flower." She helplessly smiled.

"Third Young Miss." Fa Sui called to her. Hu Zi looked down and spotted his shadow. "The chief wants you to come to the Peony Courtyard."

"I'll be right there," Hu Zi said, giving him a smile. Though she tried to hide it, he could still see the dried tears on her cheeks. He looked at her purple eyes before she jumped from roof to roof. He couldn't believe that the blind young miss he had served for many years would suddenly be able to see.

His medical knowledge was high. He knew that such a case shouldn't have happened if she was blind since birth. Unless…

"..." Fa Sui's eyes widened. "No way!"

-----

"I am here, Brother Zhi Yu."

"Come in," Zhi Yu said gently.

Hu Zi opened the sliding door and came to the Peony Hall where there was a short table in the middle, a plate of steamed buns and a teapot on top. Hu Zi could already smell them from the door.

The dimly lit room only had a few candles inside. She adjusted her eyes and saw the faces of the people who surrounded the table. It was apparent that Zhi Yu and Qing Bo were holding a meeting.

"Sit here, Zi'er." Zhi Yu gave her a dark colored cushion to sit on. She immediately sat down, and they started the discussion. "Zi'er, this afternoon, did you tell Sui, who went with you to see the coffins, that you only saw a dragon patterned tattoo on the wrist of the killer?"

"En." Hu Zi nodded.

"It really is one of those imperial foxes…" Qing Bo gritted his teeth. The enemy was so near yet too powerful to engage. "Do you remember anything else about the assassins, Hu Zi?"

Hu Zi tried to recall that night when the night sky was red due to the fire. She closed her eyes and searched through her memory. The images she got after she could see flashed one by one. She met Fei Ying who helped her find her way home, she ran as fast as she could to get away from the fireballs that were thrown at her, and she recalled the smile her teacher gave her before he fell from the cliff.

Hu Zi abruptly opened her eyes.

The moment Shou fell from the cliff!

She bit her lips, trying to recall what he said then.

"...That should be my line, Meng Ru."

Qing Bo gasped. "What did you say?"

"Meng Ru. Shou called the other assassin Meng Ru!" Hu Zi broke into cold sweat. Her hearing was sharp since young, she was sure she didn't hear her shifu incorrectly.

"Meng Ru?" Zhi Yu's body shook just as much as Qing Bo's. He frowned and said, "If our enemy truly is Meng Ru, then this is exactly the worse scenario possible."

"Why?" Hu Zi looked at Zhi Yu, who was contemplating. "Who is he?"

Qing Bo sighed heavily. "Meng Ru is the crown prince of Meng, a very powerful and influential man. Him aligning with the imperial family to go against us can only spell disaster."

Hu ZI's eyes widened. The Meng Empire was a whole different kind of empire than Jin.

In this continent, there were essentially three powerhouses: Jin, Meng, and Chu.

If the Jin Empire's people looked up to knowledge and intelligence, the people of the Meng Empire looked up to strength. Generation after generation, they managed to produce a line of genius military strategists and powerful generals. Though they were a particularly new empire, their land was vast and stretched from east to west. They were the second largest country in the continent, only behind the Chu Empire.

Zhi Yu's long eyelashes fluttered when he recalled that name, the empire of Chu.

"The crown prince of Meng... I recall shifu saying that he is the current Fire Dragon." Hu Zi broke into a cold sweat. "And also that he has been a Dragon since he was fifteen years old."

"He is a monster," Zhi Yu suddenly said.
