"Which day would you like to see?" One of the security in front of the monitor asked Ji An on the exact timing. Ji An passed the information on the date. She could not and would not forget the date when Min Young passed away in front of her.
She could remember her body heat within her arm. Her last expression before she closed her eyes, her smile, their short interaction. All those memories flooded her and she could feel her determination and excitement getting stronger. 'Wait there, Min Young. I will definitely give you good news.'
The security guy clicked a few buttons inside his monitor, trying to find out the specific date that Ji An requested.
"What time?"
"Could we try to see from around 9AM onwards? Maybe around Emergency Area and Nurse Station there?"
Another rapid clicking of buttons could be heard and then the wide monitor in front of her was separated into a few small screen for the appointed time frame.
"You sit here. This button here is to fast forward, the one next to it is to rewind. The monitor was divided into 8 small screen, 4 for emergency area and 4 for nurse station." One of the guy was kindly explaining to her and soon after that she let Ji An to sit and see for herself. He went out to take a cigarette and coffee break with a few of his colleagues.
Ji An was totally glad they left her to play with herself. Without them around, Ji An took a USB out and connected it to the computer. She knew that it would be illegal but she needed a back up copy. Even name card could be missing, if they found out about this surveillance video, it would confirm disappear without a trace.
She clicked a fast forward button until she found a scene where she wheeled Min Young inside emergency area. By then, she stopped fast forwarding and watched every scene, trying to block her emotions out of the painful memory. She kept reminding herself that she needed to be strong.
On the monitor, Ji An could see second by second the details of when Min Young passed away. When she lost her footing and fell on the floor, when Song Ho Oppa stood guard beside her and held her, when the nurse told her about Min Young belonging.
Ji An was now paying very close attention to the screen which going to reveal the culprit real soon. She could see the nurse station was unguarded and her and Song Ho Oppa had left that area to go to the morgue. One black tall figure suddenly appeared nearby, looked very suspicious. He looked around, afraid that anyone might notice him.
He went inside and was rummaging through nurse station table, looking for something. Thankfully for Ji An, the nurse did not leave the item inside a room. It was still in plain sight and captured by the security camera. Ji An would like to zoom in to see the culprit face but she did not know how. She tried to play with a few button appearing on the screen and suddenly the screen able to zoom in to the tall guy face.
'This face.' Another memory flashed across Ji An. She remembered this face. Somewhere in her mind, she knew she definitely met this guy before. Ji An quickly snapped a picture of his face although a bit blurry because of continuous zoom in. She sent the picture immediately to Song Ho Oppa.
She also did not forget to make a copy of the video. The file was quite big and it would take some time to transfer the data to her USB. Ji An kept looking towards the door, afraid the security team could come back any second.
Her monitor showed it would take three more minutes to transfer. Every second passed felt like hours and Ji An eyes were totally glued in two different spaces, the door or monitor. She could hear faintly the group was coming back. Their footsteps and her heart beat was competing against each other.
'Faster, faster.' Ji An quickly took a glance towards her screen and saw that the transfer would take less than a minute to complete. Ji An could her all of them was laughing towards some jokes outside and their voices was getting nearer and nearer.
Her heart was now slamming against her body and she could hear nothing but her heart beat and the footsteps outside. Sweat was started to form on her forehead despite the cool weather and her breath was getting shallow. The door was suddenly opened and Ji An could see the transfer had been completed at the same time. She immediately plucked out her USB without following safety measure and greeted the security team with smile.
"Hello, I have found what I want. Thanks for the time. I am going to take my leave." Ji An quickly ran.
"Hey, miss." One of the security called her and Ji An was frozen. 'Did they catch me? Oh, what should I do?'
Forcing a smile, she replied,"Yes?"
"You forgot your bag." One of the security guard held her bag and passed it to her.
"Silly me! Thank you so much. Have a nice day." Ji An bowed down and quickly left hospital. She couldn't linger here a second longer.
Ji An went quick shopping to cook for Jun's dinner and went back straight to Jun's penthouse.
The elevator ding was something that Jun waiting for. After Ji An left him for grocery shopping, he became bored and loitered around his own living room, kept glancing towards the elevator direction, waiting for Ji An to be back.
Finally the sound that he was waiting for could be heard, echoing through his living room.
"Ding." Ji An came out with a few plastic bags full of fresh ingredients.
"You are back." Jun was pretending to read magazine, although sometimes his eyes would go outside the magazine border to look into Ji An.
"Sorry, I am taking a bit long. Give me 30 minutes to prepare your dinner."
"Do you need help?"
"Just sit down. Meals will be ready soon." Jun was actually try to find a reason to be close but he was rejected on the spot by Ji An. He could only passionately waiting for her to cook.
Within minutes, he could smell the fragrant smell of garlic and fish around the room. His stomach was grumbling and he approached Ji An in the kitchen.
"What are you doing? Go back and sit there. I will call you when I am done."
"I am hungry." Jun kept staring at the half-cooked food with pleading eyes. Ji An laughed looking at his expression. It looked damn cute. She never saw this side of him before and it made her happy to see him waiting for her food. It felt right.
"Come here." Ji An called Jun and took a spoonful of boiling soup. She blew the soup since it was too hot.
"Aaaaa.." Ji An prompted Jun to open his mouth in which Jun complied, happily.
"How is it? Is it too salty or too bland for you?" Ji An waited for his comment.
"It's perfect." Jun smiled. Ji An thought the taste was perfect and she let the soup simmer more while she was preparing for other side dishes.
For Jun, this moment was perfect. The moment where she was close to him, cooked for him, smiled for him. Just the moment together with her, that's all he needed. He wanted to feel her close, to hug her, to kiss her.
